  • Very cool - thanks for sharing !!!

  • Thumbs up for the Nick Rhodes outfit.

  • damn it sold my nova about 3year ago to shop in north london, really good replication one of the best actually, i like how u have explained the use of the reverb and delay although its obvious to some but not to others, i am still wond ering what type of osc is used sqaure or trinagle.

  • liberace is still alive? just kiddin. great job.

  • Very nice demo. This is possibly the most perfectly elegant musical piece ever written :) The individual parts are so simple - but when you combine them it takes you away to Heaven.

  • Great video, excellent job on Save a prayer. Duran Duran is my favorite band of all time. Rio is their best work in my opinion.

  • Very nicely done! Now I've an idea of what my Supernova can do :-)

  • What software are you using to sequence the Supernova? Thanks, Mark

  • @MarkSpaniel The sequencer is just a basic Cakewalk item, nothing special at all. However I much prefer non-PC sequencers as they are much tighter.

  • Hi. Great video! Can you please tell me which patch you used on the Supernova? I understand you need to play around with effects etc but which was the basic sound from the library you started with? Thanks for your help.

  • @dazzybabe1 Not wishing to sound evasive, I would have just found a similar sound and then "twiddled".

  • very good, but we can't see the notes you are playing as your cuffs were in the way.. are you a prefessional musician? you are really good.

  • I have Novation Nova and it's great. Separate effects for each part - among viruses only TI has the same feature and it came out almost 10 years later than Nova... And it's arpeggiator - the best I've seen so far.

I wonder why Novation stopped producing them and went for MIDI keyboards.

  • An excellent video and a excellent shirt. Thanks.

  • jolie chemise violet!!!! retro et bagues a gogo!! lol....style ????...

  • great informative vid!!!like your crazyness

  • where are you with more sounds, you are really good man.

    novation is awesome.

  • damn what a disillusion...i thought the haunting synth with the modwheel was lebon playing the flute ;)

  • ha ha twiddle with your knob. Lol....

  • that is sick man. Well done.

  • I love this video! This has always been my favorite Duran Duran song. You did a fantastic job of analyzing this song and figuring out all the wonderful layers of it. I love doing that with a song too. I can't play any instruments but the synthesizer has always fascinated me. This song has such a beautiful, haunting sound and you got it spot on! Great job and thank you for the vid!

  • Your sleaves are the best!

very informative , check out Gianni from Italy ( you tube name Gattobus ) he is playing the same track its ARWSOME he is in a band, so talented.

    regards

    Colin

  • i think you use the viena bender sound for the synth pad

contakt mee want to learn a littel of the nova

  • Are you able to reproduce the sounds from Dead or Alive "You spin me round" or Duran Duran "Rio"??

  • Spooky! Yes I have been giving this track some effort. SAW were very good at their craft. I've seen invterviews with Pete Waterman who talks about this very track.

And yes, I keep thinking about Rio, great track. chocolatescotty - you are on my wavelenght!?

  • Cutting Crew -I just died in your arms tonight Erasure -Sometimes Eurythmics -Sweet Dreams Foreigner -I want to know what love is Frankie goes to Hollywood -The Power of Love Heaven 17 -Temptation Human League -Don't you want me Irene Cara -Fame/What a feeling Michael Sembello -Maniac Berlin -Take my breath away Pat Benatar -Love is a battlefield Pet Shop Boys -Always on my mind A-Ha -Take on me Peter Gabriel -Sledgehammer Tears for fears -Mad World/Shout Toto -Africa
  • awesome collection. I just put in

    Kraftwerk - Man Machine

    John Foxx - Metamatic

  • I believe we are! Spooky indeed! Which interviews have you seen? You spin me round has some amazing sounds, but the texture is so thick, it's difficult to differentiate between the parts.

Here's a few other great songs I would like to emulate. I just bought a Supernova ProX Platinum edition, so could do with a few tips...

  • EEK! ahem.. you've been looting my record collection dood. I do:- Toto Africa and Hold The Line, TFF - Everyone Wants, AhA but the style I REALLY aspire to... Trev Horn with Frankie Goes To H production. ABC is superb too. It is SO well done, fantastic. I need a lie down.

There is another producer, well duo actually that I really freek over, can you guess? If you do I'll explode out of total freekyness!

  • Hmmm? I'm thinking Erasure/Pet Shop Boys? Give me a clue, I'm sure I'll get it!

  • Hey great tune! Thanks for explaining how to do the sounds.

What exactly does the mod wheel modulate on the lead sound?

It's on!....like Simon Le Bon and Michelle Kwan, The Movie Tron, and Red Dawn!!!!

  • Nick has more taste and style than me. He would never wear such a lurid shirt or dodgey rings!?

  • Wow that's mint. Are you really Nick Rhodes?

Anyway, for your next 'how to' guide can you please do Level 42's 'The Chinese Way'?

    Ta.

  • You're quite odd but your videos rock!

  • wonderful :D

  • Very nice I love how you pick those songs apart! Very interesting to me!

  • fuck that's how they got that sound!

  • i am completely impressed by the quality of instruction in this video. long live duran duran.

  • Perfect! I love this song - that Supernova sounds really good.
