Both my parents died from smoking related bronchial diseases - in fact, my mum suffered horrifically due to her addiction.

Smokers who appear attractive usually shelter behind a very thin veneer that is easily smudged. The smell, the cough, the discolourations, the additional facial lines are extremely difficult to keep hidden over a period of time.

Whilst Ms Donohoe may have superficial vibrancy, it is just a facade.

Actually tobacco can be a powerful antidepressant. It stimulates acetylcholine and dopamine transmission in areas of the brain that influence mental acuity,relaxation/stimulation and mood. Smoking is not an addiction to nicotine alone but a form of self medication that is difficult to replace for the individuals that do respond positively to it.
