Multiboxing is legal, however, using macro's is ILLEGAL! For example the /assist and /follow. I think blizzard find these actions illegal because the character gets inactive and not used on a fair way if playing. Multiboxing = 100% legal if u use them as 2-5 indevidual characters.

are you being serious ? using IN GAME MECHANICS is illegal ????? the only way multi boxing is illegal is if anything at all is automated I.E if one or more of the characters do anything the player did not have to press a button to make them do... its legal when the player presses 1 button and all clones regardless of class do 1 thing, /assist /follow, interact, heal, cast etc i box 1 druid and 4 shamans and have had many convo's with GM's so i no what im talking about. not worth the risk to bot

It's bannable on private servers because people don't pay for their accounts there, and it often crashes the server. Multiboxing will never crash a retail server of course .. So it ain't any harm to Blizzard!

Multiboxing is NOT illegal and it NEVER has been. Multiboxing involves more then ONE account, a account for each of your characters making it perfectly fine with WoW's ToS. :)

Most of us don't want easy badges that you can instant join random dungeons all day long and grind without anyones help

we want teamwork guilds.. hard bosses that take months to complete, as that gives an amazing sense of achievement when your whole guild just completed Lurker or LootReaver XD (which was hard for us since our guild sucked :D)

because the gear evolves so quickly now, i just can't play it ..

@eddfir It was in the short time they got it killed. Some of them HAD to equip pvp items to reach around 35k hp. They had few groups everything cordinated when then use infest absorbing cooldowns so that the priest wouldent have to shield themn beacuse they only had one disc priest in the raid. Every healer who wasent healing at that time had to do dps. The aura mastery rotation and all other damage reduction rotations had to go perfect for 15 minutes of swetting.

There is basically only one thing illegal:

If a character does an action without a human commands that, AKA, a human does not press a button for it.

And dual boxing ONE person is making a lot of other accounts do stuff. By using alot of macros and a keyboard software. All legal.

Multiboxxing is the same as botting. Both are using scripts to automate gameplay. Why can people not bot if they are at their keyboard? Like everyone else says, its all for the sales of the games and the monthly subscription. Not really because the script you are using is so that YOU yourself can press the keys except on multiple clients.

A bot hooks a virtual keyboard and decides what keys to press that way. You have no input on what keys are being pressed. Trust me I used to bot.

So difference is the fact is there is a user input of an actual person playing the game not software. Also last I checked people don't multibox to sell accounts and farm mats which can screw server economy up.
