But your comment is a good demonstration of a 20th century phenomenon brought about by recording technology: people associating characters with particular actors. Sure, in the pre-flick days, actors would reprise roles; but various actors playing a given role was (and still is) very common on the stage, leaving characters psychologically far more discrete from actors than on film.

Ok so I went to Animal Kingdom and saw this show right. Everything was just fine. We made it through most of it and all of a sudden Dory's microphone went off so both she and Marlin ran offstage. They announced they would have to delay the show. So we sat and waited. A few minutes later they announced they had to cancel the show. I was so upset. I went on Expedition Everest to cheer myself up.
