  • why not just have a ferry?

  • @quiztimeuk Before trains that was the only mode of transport. Small boats which was even more scary !!!

  • whats the name of the railroad! i know its in south india but what railroad name?

  • @chris40539 Pamban bridge connecting main land with Rameswaram island.

  • Good video, but pathetically childish method of getting viewers.

  • @bigshot102 Can you suggest me a better title? Thanks

  • @indianrailways maybe try, trainride on the pamban bridge?

  • @struckar86 I already have such videos. I wanna tell the story of 1964 storm in which an entire train was washed away. How about - 1964 Storm Bridge, Train Washed Away With 200 People. You see I am against long titles.

  • THUMBS UP FOR RAMESWARAM AND DHANUSHKODI !

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is from here !!!! :)

  • wach 4.50 driver went for a walk in the see.. right hand side

  • I didn't read the title properly, I just thought "Perish" was some Indian town...

  • ...I was only a child then in '64...I see the storm had then taken most of the bridge too...

  • @indianrailways CHANGE THE TITLE TBH

  • @hexstaticleon You don't have to whine or shout. You can also suggest the title. Anyway changed. Hope your life will be more smooth now !!! Thanks

  • The train this video was shot from looks its from 1964

  • You're title leads people to believe something else, YOU know that, dirty get views trick

  • @lu5tic The title which happened in 1964 is described. Ocean did swallow a train. That was my intention. Don't believe in dirty tricks. If you have a better suggestion, please lemme know. I will change the title. Intention here is to let people know about 1964 storm. Thanks

  • @lu5tic You can also suggest the title. Anyway changed. Hope your life will be more smooth now !!! Thanks

  • Traffic on this bridge is controlled.. if the wind velocity exceeds the safe limit the trains are held back at the Pamban and Rameshwaram stations

  • @arnab1978 Nice to know

  • how deep is the water ?

  • @ratzoibolund Sorry no idea. But it is shallow at least near the bridge part, since one can see rocks.

  • ふぅーーーん!!

  • 錆びた鉄橋が転落の恐さを感じました。

  • iv been to this place.....india is such a beautiful country, that i dont regret leaving germany at all

  • @preserverofislam Thanks

  • Thats an impressive yet scary structure. How long is the bride and how many trains crosses it on a daily basis? It kinda remind me of the 7 mile bridge that was washed away by a hurricane in 1934, Key West, Florida. Sad to say many lives were lost. They never rebuilt the bridge.

  • @attlevi 2.5 km long and not many trains cross. Maybe around 16 trains both ways daily.

  • where is the train???

  • @krikbestplayer34 Kindly visit the playlist link in description.

  • Why doesn't the Railway construct a HIGHER bridge in place of this one? One high wave and the bridge's gone !!!

  • @rishabhchandan Maybe they are waiting for such a thing to happen !!!

  • Great video, thanks! I would almost go to your beautiful country just to see this, but it seems the area is not prepared for visitors. What a shame. Thereis a gold mine of opportunity there. As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said "I have a dream". Namaste!

  • @frankbateau1 Thanks.

  • ...A little on the remote side, but I'll bet it would make an interesting dive.

  • was the train ever recovered?

  • @Deaflemming1 Never

  • nice vid!!

  • @alfredojr71 Thanks

  • very informative... thanks..

  • @dnchander My pleasure. Thanks for watching.

  • During the middle part of the video, why was there a guy saimming in the water?

  • @Crazytrainkid Maybe local fisher men. Some areas are shallow.

  • @indianrailways eh. probably. I don't know what people can do on these days. Shouldn't that fisher men be in a boat!?

  • sumik wrong wif your sound

  • @Kanuckbrewer Kindly wait for another video with ma new cam !!!

  • I live in arbroath, Scotland, And looking at this is sort of looking at tay road bridge as the old bridge had same type of fate

  • superb

  • @suseentharin Thanks

  • woww.. really very scary......

  • @seba81376 Nothing inside time and space is safe from death. Thanks

  • This is pretty damned cool. I bet building this was a novel unto itself.

  • is this where they train the dolphins for seaworld

  • who the hell designed this bridge and thought it was a good idea? xD

  • the heart attack would happen in the train plus they they would ave to let me out before we get to the bridge i would have to find another way around

  • i would a 24 have a heart attack if i woke up from my sleep and seen that around me

  • @MrBry329 How about people living in Palm Jumeirah !!! How can they sleep at night !!!

  • at 4:50 there's some cold nerves swimmer!

  • @Moz1lla lol They maybe local fishermen

  • so whats With those rocks or debris or something?

  • @iliketrains2 Some areas are shallow and hence the rocks. Debris is of the old washed away brdige.

  • @indianrailways w-w-w-washed away!?

  • @budgiebreder Yes the whole train with passengers in the 1964 tsunami.

  • @indianrailways wow.

  • is this current railway still safe for transport usage? so scary

  • @aloozer Yes it is but then no place is truly safe from bitches like Irene and Katrina !!!

  • hats off to you man gr8 video!

  • @saswatawap5 Thanks Sir

  • these sound like made up places, "Rameshwaram"

  • wait...... i never saw anything happen!! it was driving the whole time and thats it!!!

  • the driver reluctantly took the train. Just as he had perceived the train was gobbled by the ocean. I know abt this incident coz that very day my Granddad had been the TTI for CBE-Dhanushkodi express via Dindugal Madurai Manamadurai. His duty ended at Ramanathapuram on 22 dec eve. he was to stay there and return by Ramanathapuram - Madurai Pas the next day. He came to know of the incident the next day. He says the storm first struck Dhanushkodi & slowly came to Pamban but didnt touch Rameshwaram

  • @KSaaluvesh Great piece of information, that too from someone who saw those days. Thanks a lot.

  • @indianrailways ur welcome bhaiya

  • your theory is slightly wrong

that train reached Rameshwaram and was proceeding to Dhanushkodi. A few KMS from Rameshwaram the line goes absolutely close to the sea.

ur theory abt the waves was right.

The driver after reaching Rameshwaram had felt that the waves were too high even in the Shallow part of Pamban bridge and it would be tooooooooo high at the point where the line goes parallel to the sea as the ocean is very deep in those parts. 2 be contd

  • @KSaaluvesh I am just posting information from external sources like WIKI and so on. So no theory of my own here !!! Anyway glad that, you are there now to post the truths. Thanks again.

  • Are the bogies of the tragedy still present beneath the sea?

  • @vaas44 No. But one can see abandoned tracks hidden under sands near to Dhanushkodi. If you search Google, will come across some pictures.

  • 1 things which is anoying me dat how can govt declar it as a ghost town & unfit for living, i thot govt as a body does not believes in blind faith, if this ws the case then mumbai wuld never have been mumbai which had faced so many deadly attacks from terror grps, its the spirit to re-build, for which mumbai stands tall. Even there wer so many cyclons & tsunamis which hav destroyed several towns and city wrld ovr but was it ever declared as a ghost town and no one shuld live there from now on...

  • @ng111gala Please don't compare Mumbai with this remotest small place. I would like to say one thing. You will not say the same things once you visit this eerie creepy place. It does look like a haunted place. And on either side the mighty seas on same level as the road. It can simply sweep across like a breeze !!! and make us disappear. It will surely give you goose bumps, once you visit here. After dark its more creepy. That time, you will definitely support the Govt decision !!!

  • @indianrailways hmmmm...i went through some vids showing that region.............on a lighter side i feel some ghost reality shows (d one which recently came on SONY TV.) or shows like roadies shuld be held there..........and ask them to do a task of jus living 1 or 2 nights..............:P :D

  • @ng111gala Actually I do wish to pass 1 night in future, in a fisher folk's hut. I wanna experience that creepy place at night. In fact I like such places. Here is one which I liked - /watch?v=OAObSF1Fdgw

Some times I have a feeling that, I am some kinda non human species. Be careful buddy.

  • @ng111gala I visited this place last week it was horrifying in the sense that the sand dunes with a high wind speeds which pinch you like any thing. Its a like a desert with both side covered by the bay of bengal and the indian ocean.

  • really thnx for the info, dhanushkodi incident was a great tragic, my feelings for those who were the victims of that deadly cyclone

  • @ng111gala My pleasure

  • nice video !!

    wanna swim in the sea

  • @wap7anirudh Thanks

  • boy-o-boy......first on the shore, next on the road bridge and finally on the train.....great sequence......cool video.....looks like u sat on the foot board....rgith?? wasnt tht pretty uncomfortable......is teh water beneath deep??
