  • can't wait till i center something that big! i wish i'll be able one day... you certaintly have talent.

  • Do you trim on a hump?

  • i think you need a taller wheel......

  • I loved your video. Thanks. One problem: Could you have your camera person sometimes show the inside as you're working. I could only imagine what your hands were doing inside. Thanks again for a great video.

  • holy cats.

  • well done.

  • ich will das auch lernen

  • What kind of clay is this?

  • THATS a heavy ass bowl

  • gah that is so much clay i couldn't imagine trying to center that

  • its not that hard I tried it like probably half hat size though

  • @virga1 lol ya its really hard to do it actually requires a bit of energy to get ait centered i think i was centering about like 15-20 pounds of clay today it was fun but hard

  • 8:01 is where my bowl wouldve collapsed or just ripped apart

  • nice....

  • What a great bit of throwing. Wonderful control.

  • How long can you keep a pot on a shelf after you throw it, before it needs to be fired? months?

  • are you asking about how long it takes it to dry? 3-5 days if you dont cover it but it might warp 2 weeks if its slower drying

  • Ahhh ok. I guess i was just wondering if you can throw a pot and leave it shelved for a long period of time. I ask because i have a wheel now but no kiln yet. Thx for your reply thought ;)

  • Years as long as it is not hit and cracked. The only worry might be if it were in an environment where it absorbs moisture and freezes resulting in cracks.

  • Monster bowl ! Nice

  • what type of clay is this?

  • looks liek b mix to me (porcealin?)

  • its stoneware

  • this is a skill. not something you simply learn.

  • any chance you can post a video of you trimming one of these larger pieces?

  • do you ever have problems with "S" cracks with your large bowls? Do you keep them covered for long slow dry times?....

  • my ceramics teacher told me u get S cracks when u dont compress the bottom of the bowl so that might be ur problem

  • ok thanks, one thing though, i realized that when making big bowls, you have to use with boths hands, only your fingertips to pass with, but when i open and widen the bottom it gets off center, even if my left hand is suporting the outside wall, so my main question is what is your technique with opening and widening the bottom of the inside? thanks

    zac

  • how much clay is that? 25lbs?

  • I remember it being 15lbs- although it could be 18lbs. I usually use a full bag when I'm throwing cylinders or forms off the hump.

  • your videos are soooooo good its like being at the state fair again :)

  • great job!!

  • wow, that's great. thanks for sharing

  • wow. huge bowl.

I bet keeping the center hole straight, as you go to the bottom to establish the floor, is tough.

  • Thanks for sharing

  • Very nicely done! Wow, that is a very large bowl. It seems that centering takes most of the time...will be a while before I attempt this, but will definitely keep this as a reference
