what is "zoning"?

i think its like spacing, but zoning is more like playing in a certain manner to eliminate the number of ways your opponent can approach to your advantage. Correct me if i'm wrong, players, but an example is when Ken kept hadokening DeeJay's face. He cant block forever so he'll eventually have to jump over them, which was the only way he could have approached, and thus ken's got him where he wants and punishes his jump.

spacing is how you position yourself in relation to your opponent. Zangief's a great example here, you wanna be at a distance rather than fighting him up close cuz you're screwed if you do.
