This is top notch tapping! I could watch this vid 20 times in a row. I am always interested in your very unique family history, and grandpa sounds like a real river runs through it kinda guy! Your instinct to collect things must have strong ties to your family, as they all seem to be bit prone to having AMAZING odds and ends that pass to you! You are the keeper of the family "jewels". Totally excited that a house tour is maybe in the works...
@Karenmizoscardog He WAS a totally awesome dude...and I have ended up being the collecter in the fam, since there's only one or two other living members left besides me. It's a good thing I have a big basement. I'm excited for the house tour too!!!! It's gonna be pretty fun to make!
@ElectricDuvetdiva Awesome. My camera is kind of moody. Sometimes it makes these horrible noises, and sometimes it's really cooperative. I've learned a few tricks so hopefully I can get the most out of it. It's pretty cheap, and the mic is a total piece of garbage. I think I cleaned the mic right before I filmed this. I'll do it again and see if it improves further. THANK YOU for the feedback. It's really helpful when people tell me stuff like this.
I just finished watching and i thought that that collection was amazing. Im not a fan of hunting at all i find it a bit sick, but considering your grandad used everything and kept the horns preserved that is very respectful and he seems like such a nice person. It always intrigues me to what curiosity you will unveil next to us next. ;-)
@MrGarrett1911 IMHO, I would say that hunting for *sport* is horrible, hunting for food (respectfully) is really awesome. I mean, I don't cheer on any animal killing, but I/ we live in a culture that thinks meat comes from supermarkets and fast food joints. Learning the intimate, emotional, and often painful connection between a living creature and your dinner is something it would do many people a lot of good to viscerally understand firsthand.
@SilentCitadel yeah thats what i was getting at, sport killing is awful, but like you say for eating and making things that last a lifetime is definately a worthy cause, i think if we had to live like that daily people would be a little bit more conservative with there food intake and not so keen on throwing so much away. I hope you make something cool out of the horns, i look forward to when you show us all what amazing thing you crafted, much like the cigar ox guitar!
@krinklefix When I started listening to whisper/ asmr videos, I kind of felt like there was a little niche that was missing. I have always adored learning, and having my brain filled with information- but I do very poorly in a standard classroom for a variety of reasons. I've always wanted to share both my strange interests and my passion for knowledge. This has been really the perfect venue to vent this desire (I only wish I could be a little *more* educational). I'm really glad you get it.
Interesting collection.I heard you mention wanting to make something artful with some of those, maybe you can make them into some sort of jewelery tree or bracelet/ring stands with some glossing paint?
You are SO right! I never thought of it that way...but hunting an animal is a lot more humane than eating meat from a restricted, abused drugged up animal caged from birth til death. I wish I could hunt.
@tinglesanonymous People have been asking me for ages to do a tour and I think for the 50th vid I'm finally going to cave in- but I have to be very careful to respect the privacy of my tennants, significant other, and child- so I will probably need to learn to edit a video- which really has been a long time coming.
@Bioreactress I have a really cool one I'm going to be working on this evening- I won't post it till the wee hours, but if you care to check tomorrow it will be up for sure :)
@WhisperyNights8 Thank you! The first couple videos I made got cut off more abruptly than I would have liked but I've learned from my mistakes. I'm glad you notice the small stuff like that- I work hard to try and make every aspect about this as calming as possible. :)
Wonderful, soothing video - as always! Thank you! My step-dad was a big hunter: He had the same philosophy of respecting the animal , and using as much of it as possible. I am moving more and more towards being a vegetarian myself, because of how the modern world processes the animals we consume. Our society is so out of touch with the animals we eat.
@kell909 It's pretty easy for me since I've always been one (until recently- I started eating fish in the last couple years, so I'm not really technically veggie anymore) My mother raised me veggie- and I live in a place where it's VERY common. I've hard the transition can be very difficult. If you need any good recommendations for meatless cookbooks or substitutions let me know. I've been doing it my whole life, and I'd love to help.
Dear Esmeralda, your video war awesome. It made me think of Native Americans and their view of hunting and eating animals. How they respected the death of a "brother" and how they praised the animal's sacrifice. They knew that only because of the animal's death they could remain strong. I think there is a huge difference between hunting and killing for survival or cultural tradition than for money, fashion and profit.Thank you!
@KenLeonhardt There IS a big difference, and even though I live in a land once inhabited by people who respected it, that is no longer the case. It's good to somtimes stop and think about the fact that the people who considered how their actions would affect the seventh generation hence have been virtually eradicated, destroyed by those who only consider them(our)selves. Whatever punishment nature metes out to us, we have it coming. Ohh, I sound grim!
I love the ring on your right hand-middle finger...where did you get it?? plus, love the video :) please keep making ASMR. All of your's gives me the tingles :)
I have a reindeer antler that I plan to hang my necklaces/bracelets/some rings on. Our park/zoo gets reindeer every X-mas and since their antlers usually drop while they're there, some of the keepers are allowed to keep one. I was so excited to see this, as I was just permitted to bring mine home a few days ago. I love these videos!
@Kaftka I sometimes wonder who flags totally normal comments as spam. Sorry, I unflagged you. Anyway- that's SO COOL. Reindeer antlers? Wow, what an honor. I hope you find something totally awesome to do with yours.
@Kaftka Obvs, you're going to use it as a jewelry holder but I meant "I hope you find a cool and interesting way to mount it and use it as such. Clarity. I'm all about clarity, lol
Wonderful video...very soothing to listen to your nails on the different textures of the horns and antlers :) There are a lot of hunters in my family and circle of friends, and we do as your grandfather did...using respect. My dad even has the leather tanned and made into gloves, and nobody ever kills a doe...ever. There is senseless hunting and then respectful hunting and I loved how you put so well!
@natureswhispers That's exactly right. I see a big obvious demarcation line- but some people still find it really offensive. Personally, I find the powedered meat product used in taco bell food to be a helluva lot less respectful than this. I'm glad (but not very surprised) we're on the same page here :)
@TWITfromURANUS It is- and I'm not willing to kill anything except maybe fish and squid. I was born and raised ovolactovegetarian, and have no enzymes to digest red meat regardless, so I'd get sick if I did eat it- but I don't want to anyway. I have taken up eating sushi and UK style fried fish in the last couple years, but that's it. I guess I'm not technically a vegetarian anymore- but I was for so long I just got used to calling myself that, lol
I am a big fan of the idea of hunting my own food. Unfortunately in the society we live in its no longer practical. And its horrible what they do to the animals some of us consume. Anyways, I was enthralled as usual! Great job!
@duality673 Yeah- In my part of the US there are some people who still do a lot of Hunting- some of them for truly practical reasons, though a few for "sport" - though I personally think it's not sport unless you teach a deer to use a shotgun.
@UnratedMovies I have a BUNCH of fun projects in mind.. I actually keep a list, because I'm afraid I'll forget cool ideas I have- but this one particualr one is especially nifty. I hope you'll like it- like I said, it won't be for a bit yet- but I think it will be worth the wait :)
