Wynton Marsalis called rap "cursing over a rhythm track" but this turntable scratching and moaning nonsense might be borderline wacko. It does nothing to improve the music and it degrades that quality of Hancock and others music. What a pity.
@PhiberOptik001 I'm sorry, but you are completely thinking small.
Do you realize the skill needed to even do what they are doing. I love Wynton and Herbie, but music is broader than what you are thinking it is (obviously Herbie does as well). I could go further since I'm a musician, but I won't. PEACE!
Damn! I don't know who everyone is but obviously you have Herbie on keys, Teri Lynn Carrington on the drums, Wallace Roney on the trumpet. I have no idea who is on the tables (I saw him live in 08' again with Herbie as one of the lucky 300 who attended the Nissan Live Sets show in L.A.) or who the other dude is on the keys.
@anatomyofluke I think it's Matthew Garrison, the son of the Jimmy Garrison who played with Coltrane if I remember correclty. Yeah, it's a small world, the world of jazz. Greetz
The scratching is annoying...its loud and just too much. Herbie is a Super open to just about anything...sometimes it works and sometimes it dont. He's so strong as a musician, that I feel he thinks "Im there, come along, get with it."
I think this is a very remarkable blend of styles and genres and shows great talent and musicianship, which Mr. Hancock has long grown us accustomed to after all
Super version et que dire de Teri Lynn Carrington j'aime

I thought it was a little messy towards the beginning. But awesome after that. Most of them look pretty young so it's not surprising lol.

herbie is killing it as always! great vocoder player too - the drummer is the only problem, him and the DJ are rushing the time pretty hard
