if that woman is equally involved in the process (she was shown mixing glaze and cutting pots), why does this video completely ignore anything she might have to say to talk to her husband? like what, women should be seen and not heard? come the hell on.
Suggestion: Fire up your furnace and made some glass. Blow a ball inside your finished pot (which WOULD hold water), and I'll bet that would be popular too.
My grandmother did some nice cutouts in my granddaddy's pots---it is nice.....she also mde hand sculpted owls, foxes, bears, and other animals such as cats and birds.
I've ordered several of their pots and they are beautiful. When you see how they light up a room it really is amazing. I'm starting pottery this fall and I hope I can create something half as good.
My grandaddy made pots and grandmother would cut out some like this--and they are so neat----she also painted on the slip designs and did scraffitti on some---I've been thinking about making some pottery myself someday myself--we use to go to creeks and we floated washtubs down the creek with innertubes around them and dug clay with pickaxes and shovels--a really neat experience in the summertime---I remember how cool and nice the creek was and how colorful the clay was that we dug--neat!
I'm going to a Bruce Metcalf lecture here in town on Thursday! From what I've heard about him, he's a militant craftsman that believes craft should be taught entirely separately from art!
Very nice shapes which are beautiful whether they are cut or uncut, but I like the idea of light coming from earthen vessels, it is a spiritual creation.
Wow. I would love to own a piece of art like this. I didn't know this was an option for pottery - it's quite lovely. I appreciate that it's made by one or two people and not a machine.
i really love this......my art teacher was lookin on youtube for some neat stuff.....and she came acrossed your work here....we have been trying it out.....i am right now covered in dry clay from tryin this out after school.....and i came acrossed your work and i just had to comment that i love it.....i made my bubble tonight out of mixed clay....red white and gray.....it looks nice.....but...i couldn't get the top shut....i tryed twice today....i will soon get it....i love it very much...thanks

i like it it is sad and it reminds me of my friend that saddly was killed last year because of reading chain letters and now that you have read this she will slowly kill you by everytime you hear a ring in your ear she will make your life shorter by a day unless you post this in 5 different videos sorry
That narrator almost seemed to take issue with his work there- what with the juxtaposition of the soaked sponge with the words "water shortage," and frequent use of the word "useless."
Oh this is fantastic. I want to do this. It seems to flow with poetry from the soul. I love your vids, I just found you and you have been awesome. This video about the soul from the clay is something very special. We all learn something new daily.

i use my palms more than my actual fingers so that shouldnt be a problem for me, but then again i dont wear rings
LordVolker 2 years ago
I can't either! I always have to take all my jewelry off.
Maybe after doing for years and years we'll be able to :-)

@noxvet Haha same, I tried with my class ring on, but the sculpted palm side roughed up the bowl texture =[[[

If you look closely, there's a line where the pots are carved in half. They come apart like a lid off a pot.

Possibly so that the light source can be inserted.
