  • Horrible company (DSG group) - Please dont make the same mistake as me -Brand new laptop 3 days ago,took it back today because of a problem with DVD drive - They didnt want to know.TECH guy was clueless and rude.He was telling me complete lies - unfortunatly for him,computers have been my hobby since the late 70s and his bullshit probably washed with complete novices - But not with me.Ask for refund - Refused.Asked for replacement -refused.They are crooks,end of.

  • I can't believe I used to work for this place - I was so glad to leave and I used to feel a sense of nostalgia everytime I stepped into my old branch to buy something (Staples Corner, London), but after seeing this, posted whilst I was working there, forget it.

    I remember advising a colleague "You could do better than PC World CSA with a 2:1 in business management" to which a manager replied "Dont diss the company!" lol... Retail, I feel for those still stuck there.

  • I can't believe I used to work for this place (Staples corner branch, London). The amount of PC Perf I had to sell geez... I'm so glad I left I sometimes go to buy a few things and feel slightly nostalgic but after watching this - no chance.

    I remember chatting to a colleague in the staff room bout his degree, and I was like "you could do better than PC World with a 2:1 in Business Management" to which my over-hearing manager replied "hey dont diss the company!"

  • They were looking to charge someone I know £50 to reinstall the OS.

    This is without saving any of her files or anything like that.

    I'm not even a amazing computer person, and I've been able to sort out the stuff wrong with the laptop.

  • pile of shit company, no such thing for free, when you buy there if you want just the laptop they will prop throw you out. They have a till system called eclipse which has a customer offer tab. When you click this in a odd occasion they may be a free case, usb, hard drive etc they use this as the tool to get you to repeat spend its all a con. Windows 7 is dumbed down so much it basically is a corporate o/s leading you straight back to the likes of best buy pc world. get a mac

  • I have several Macs and I asked if this software application would work under parallels desktop in Mac OS X, I of course knew it would but i was testing them. It was a PC app but parallels desktop virtualises a windows environment. he said no its for PC's only and with that after about 5 mins he tried to make me purchase a crap PC, yeah as if your not gonna make me switch from mac to PC, massive down grade. Its like buying a Rolls Royce phantom and then being made to buy a Skoda lol

  • My experience with PC World's tech support "TheTechGuys":

    Last February my Advent laptop broke and since it was (SHOCK HORROR) bought from PCW, we took it there.

    For the next 4 months we spent countless journeys going there because their 2 methods of either reinstalling Windows or replacing the HDD didn't do anything.

    Finally, after 4 MONTHS!! they figured out the problem, it was the motherboard, but seriously, it took them 4 MONTHS to get it fixed. Avoid them at all costs.

  • i just bought a laptop from pc world..i refused to give any of my details and refused to let them take my card and put it in the machine, i refused any extra insurance and put them right on a few things when they didnt like it...they couldnt get me out the shop quick enough....you wouldnt believe why they need these details so much....

  • @Dregann Same company.As my experience proved today.I was warned about PC World by many,many people - Like an idiot i didnt listen.And ive paid the price - I'm registered blind (so excuse spelling errors) and it took me over a year to save for this laptop.3 days old and they refuse to admit there is a fault with it.They refused me a replacement and a refund - I'm disgusted that this sort of stuff still goes on today.They take your money and run .Crooks.Incredibly rude staff as well.AVOID !!!!!

  • Hi, i have had the same problems with pc world, i have brought many computers from there but there are always troble with them, i have now come across a company in Kent, Bromley, there services are great, they built pcs, repair and service home and business users, better then PC World, i would never go back there again as now i have found PC Hospital. heres there number: 08456434150 . its a basic line rate, give them a call, you wont be disappointed!! 73, Burnt Ash Lane, Bromley,Kent, BR1 5AA

  • I worked for PC world but quit because they were terrible in so many aspects. Their training courses are asinine, their staff are people off the street, the prices are absolutely crazy and they are managed by over paid idiots with NO knowledge or experience. How the company survives i dont know.

  • I agree, alot of the advicers know nothing. I would not buy from them, they seem to think that customers should buy what they tell them to, not what the customer wants. Alot or some of the people who manage them are just power crazy and purely idiots who probably could not get work else where. The company is just crap.

  • True about the back street shops, don't go to Tezco in Milton Keynes though, it took 4 months from the day my DVD drive stopped playing the second layer of DVDs to get a refund, I asked him to test it, he took it and placed it back on the shelf with a reduced price, I told him to test it and he didn't test the actual problem, I asked for a replacement and he would only give me a slower, cheap model.

    Finally I got him to give me a full refund but he wasn't happy about it.

    Never shop at Tezco.

  • omg this is so right i brought a pc 5 months ago and its crashed like seven times till this day now all the time i ring the techguys i get the answer do a full ssystem restore wtf its 5 months old now oma ring the number you rang due to packard bells cusomer support is the techguys wtf a CIRCLE so know really i want an exchange ill keep ya posted

  • My personal opinion is that you should build your own computer, then you don't hav to deal with shitty companies like PC world, and if u r goin to BUY one. AVOID PC WORLD!!

  • i have to make this comment.....i work in pc world and i have for 2 years. back when this video was current i agreed. but its not like this anymore. dispite what people think, we work for minimum wage, get no bonuses and have rediculus targets to meet. within the last 6 months, ALOT is being done for the customer, EVERYTHING we do is to try and makke the customer feel happy with us. but this annoys me, we work hard (well some of us) and what would u do for minimum wage?

So many other companies can supply a replacement without replacement cover while PCW twats cant be bothered to do shit after you've payed for their monthly service. And they dont know a fucking thing about computers. They're still selling the Eee PCs 900 range for release prices and dont even know about the new 1000 range which everyone is selling out right now.   • Have returned my laptop to PC World 4 times for backlight problem. They didnt even replace it even after it took them 7 weeks to repair. Absolutely CRAP after sales.

  • I have had some bad experiences from pcworld myself. I have brought a fair amount of headsets and routers from them before and when i got them home and checked them out something was wrong with all of them so i had to go back and get a refund very frustrating. I don't know why they supply faulty goods to consumers i really don't very poor company.

  • i work at PC World, im not there cos i enjoy it, im there cos i need the money, just work there for yourself, dont bother caring about the company itself. Managers make you push PC Performance on customers but i dont bother. Do it for the money!

  • The sad truth is never purchase any computer, laptop, or components from PC World. They are the cowboy's of the computing industry, who over charge, mislead, and sell awful products often to those who know no better. Thankfully, I've heard they are in some deep brown stuff financially.

  • Bought my first PC from PC world.... they sent it with a cracked monitor stand, and were totally useless in organising a replacement.... in fact one of their staff chose to deliver it to me in his time off. They also added more memory to my ..fk-ard bell and I later discovered that they hadn't even plugged it into the motherboard properly.....Bunch of cowboys if you ask me

  • Pc World has major issues. So do lots of major consumer companies. they are all making loads of money out of 'extras' like you are talking about.   • However, I (as everyone, I'm sure) has been told in training that PCP will kick ass, solving all the customer's problems. THIS is proof that this is not the case. I'll certainly find it harder to get people to buy this 'great' service. And I'll be returning here soon to see if any people have had any bad experiences. Oh, Norton DOES suck balls indeed, go NOD32, my personal favourite.

  • Aside from making me chuckle, this video did surprise me. Now, as a PC World sales assistant, I do have a few...problems with the way things are run, both regarding staff care and store policy.

  • Why you would want to go to a store that sells products that are flawed. The systems they sell are for users who know very little,poor mboards with Celerons, but hey you have 300 Gb hard drive and a 19 inch fs. I know they also sell P4 and stuff, BUT THERE IS ALWAYS A TRADE OFF SOMEWHERE. Where in the world,indeed,no sympathy for your obvious poor judgement.YOU WOULD GET BETTER ADVICE IN WOOLIES & LIDL,(They also retail pc's).

  • I dislike it how customers think all staff to know everything, but know the feeling, if they offed good service it would be hell alot easier to sell the product.

  • I worked for PC World and there was a legend there once it was written in stone and had a sword attached to it - her name was customer service. Then I found out she didn't exist when I had to replace my screen and it took them eight hours instore to do that. The managers are useless and incapable of making a decision without having their hand held. One of the worst retailers around and that's any store that's part of the Dixons Stores Group whether it be PC World, Dixons or Currys.

  • I'm shocked, I work for PC World, and am allways postive about the support line. It really annoys me that I've sold many hundreds of units with PC Performance and the service being crap. But having said that I don't know any computer company who has a competent tech support.

  • i also work at pc world and its all true, Pc world dont even look after their staff so what makes you think they will look after you?

    i have worked there for 6 years now (god knows why) and constantly they are finding new ways to cut our wages. Pc performance was cheaper when i first started than what it is now.

  • If you check the pc performance website it now lists live chat and remote assistance as services but they are no where to be found. The leaflet is pants and I was simply following instructions from my manager and sales coach.

  • As bad as this is, it is not PCW directly-Capita run the call centre. Just to make everyone feel better-the field engineers get nearly same service. The PCPerformance actually pays for the field visit & parts not the telephone calls as anyone can call the helpline<cough>

  • I agree with what you say. The video doesnt portray this very well but every call centre has its bad days. My main gripe was that I'd been selling non-existent services for the last 10 months. I notice now the pc performance support site now lists a live chat facility and full remote service but doesnt tell customers anywhere how to get it.

  • its just part of my vblog and something I felt strongly about it. As an employee, I felt very disappointed in the whole company. I'm not bothered about my job or making a difference but I suspect it will make a difference in some way.
