  • to re- activate a carbon filter heat them in a oven. the heat drives off the absorbed carbon compounds leaving the now empty voids free to trap new hydrocarbons.

  • Next time, take a sturdy card board box, cut two holes: a 6" hole for intake, and the other for exhaust (you figure how big), cover each end with screen, then fill it with carbon. same flippin' thing.......if you need a filter, buy one at home depot for AC 12x12x1 or what ever the box size is....dah.

  • Didnt quit. I finished it and used it for about 3 months without a problem... its just not worth the effort...

  • The activated carbon is the only expensive part, and most can be cleaned and used again. To make your carbon last longer, make a pre-filter insert with the carbon filters that com from an aquarium store. Same cylinder design, wrapped around a 1/4" grated mesh and fitted just inside the 6" entrance. This can also be placed anywhere in your airtight ducting, before or after the fan. Hell you can put those any where, but the more you have installed, the more cfm you will lose.
