He means the outstanding amount of people who are atheists. The Bible says that in the end times His believers will be few. Oh and I have something that will help you. Its called Genetic Entropy, and its the discovery that we are all de-evolving. Go google it please!
You mention that their is no scientific evidence that god exists, like many people you probly haven't been exposed to the other side of the scientific spectrum many scientist find strong evidence supporting creationism. Most people also think that the big bang and evolution is fact but their is a reason why it's called the big bang THEORY.
Well, I don't think this guy was ever an Atheist either. What he is it seems is a bone-headed knuckle-dragger whose existence proves that in the evolution of our species some specimens of humanity were left behind.
healthyaddict: What is the harm in believing in God or any other deity? If one believes & at death finds out there's no God, the outcome is the same for believers & nonbelievers. However, if one doesn't believe & dies only to find out there's a God, that person has lost any chance of eternal salvation that's freely given which means everything. God doesn't wish anyone to be cast in to the lake of fire. That's why He sent His Son to wipe the ledger of sin clean 2000+ years ago. I'll pray for you.
005Taylor: Hypothetically speaking, if you do or don't believe & at death find there's no God, then it doesn't matter either way. But, if you don't believe & at death find out there's a God, then you lose any chance of eternal salvation. Why tempt fate? That's arrogance. Is there truly a "wrong" God? Most of the major religions hold to the same basic tenets & have the same foundations in history so believing in at least any of the major 3 religions is all the same.
005Taylor: As I stated with the 3 major religions, they have the same foundation so they worship the same God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, the difference lay in HOW they worship God & whom their Messiah is or isn't. Therefore, you can be Christian, Jewish or Muslim & still hold true to the 1st Commandment.
John 14:6 'Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.'
As I recall, the jews think jesus was a prophet, and muslims seem to like mohammid so much better. According to the bible, you have to go through jesus to be saved. That's hard to do when only 1 of the 3 religion,s think jesus was the son of god.
Regardless, even if they did all believe in the same god. That does'nt really change the argument. How do you know Thor isn't real?
005Taylor: As I said before, if you believe & find at death there is no God, the outcome is the same as those who don't believe. HOWEVER, if you don't believe & discover at death God DOES exist, then by shunning Him like this forfeits any chance you might have at receiving eternal salvation. The whole point is believing in a higher power. Believe, & you've won half the battle. Don't believe & you've lost before you've even started.
tchapman: That did'nt really answer my question tho. Which god? There are absolutly thousands of gods that have been worshipped over the centuries. How do you know which is right?
Also, I can't force myself to believe something because I think its strategic to do so. If I don't honestly believe it, then what's the point with pretending?
005Taylor: Whichever faith you ultimately choose will resonate w/in you as God or whichever deity speaks to you. The point is to seek the right one & not give up until you have found one that feels like home to you (I'm not talking about a building or congregation, but the religion itself). Also, if there is no God/Supreme Being(s), why is it that every culture on the face of the Earth had their own religion? They all knew that something greater than man existed to create the world & them w/it.
Because people naturally want to explain things. Science hasnt always been around to explain how things worked, so we proposed god. Science keeps gradually taking gods miracles away and explaining them with perfectly natural reason, we no longer thing god causes the sun to rise and set, but the more we take away from god, the more religion fights back.
If there was one supreame god, and we followed your logic, why did almost every culture on the face of the Earth all have a differant god?
"the three major religions", I assume you mean the three major monotheistic religions. There is bhuddism, nontheistic; hindu, multitheistic; and many tribal and cultist religions that have many, one, or no dieties. Frankly, little under half the worlds population is monotheistic.
@tchapman1977: What if you're wrong that God prefers unthinking toadies to honest people who try to live a good life? And besides, if God doesn't wish for anybody to be cast in the lake of fire, why make one in the first place?
@FireRagnarok: Unthinking? Hardly. My parents had their own faiths but never regularly attended church. I came to religion on my own w/o any parental influence. God worked through me to bring me to know Him. It also states in the Bible that it is only through faith that man shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven & not through "good works" lest any man should boast. God created the lake of fire as a place for those that choose not to worship Him. Lack of faith/worship=separation from God=Hell.
@FireRagnarok: It also says that the Jesus & the apostles were persecuted for their beliefs. Rome historically did much to persecute, drive out & kill Christians for their beliefs in the early years. The Bible is divinely-inspired but was written by fallible man & is rife w/allegory & parable so many different interpretations can be drawn from many of the passages. Some are meant to be taken literally & others aren't. God works through you to better understand & know Him.
@tchapman1977 ....bring the fire on baby, I rather act well than believe blindly....If your god will give me damnation for that then I am proud of not following.
Honoring your parents no matter what is a very stupid thing to do. Respect and honor have to be earned; you don't just give it without reason.
This guy would tell a child who was starved and raped by the parents to honor those parents. I would only expect an ignorant barbarian to adhere to such a moral code.
yeah strawmanning someone's position while being a hypocrite about it is jackass material. way to call him on it. (subbed)
Religion is from Latin "relatio". Believers think it it about God or OUTSIDE things, but it is about one's relationship to self and others. So if one gives it power, it IS as real as one needs it to be in order to give their own self permission to be happy, to succeed, to impose meaning and purpose on a life that seems empty. If God created everything, He created sharks and volcanoes, flesh eating disease, supernovas and black holes. This is not the old man, grey beard, seated on the Throne
The unpardonable sin or blaspheme of the Holy Spirit is the rejection of Jesus Christ's sacrifice as being an efficacious propitiation for your crimes/sins.
healthyaddict? If you don't believe in God, and you don't believe in evolution, how did all this (all of us) get here? And why are you so on fire to convince others thre is no God? Christians have been given a reason. Keeping others from hell. Why does it matter to you?
cant have trees without a seed being planted, cant have a chicken without an egg, cant have an egg without a chicken. The environment creating life on earth by accident has just as many flaws as manmade religions.sayin that though there as just as many truths in religions as there are untruths.
im sort of building a path of spirituality through only experience with spiritual, psychic & supernatural, some people say im off my head, some people say im of the devil then some say im christ.
Revelation chapter 1 Jesus words -I am Alpha and Omega.the beginning and the ending saith the Lord which is and which was and which is to come the Almighty my question to you, Miss....is this do you think of endtime prophecy there is a reason I am asking this.....
not sure that anyone pokes fun at atheists. most people are mature enough to "poke fun" at peoples acts and deeds; not so much what they believe or don't believe in.
Ok, so HealthyAddict you never said you should not honour thy father and mother. But I will. What if your Mother was Axe wielding, murdering, bible basher (as most axe wielding murderers are indeed bible bashers) and your father a rapist. Should we still honour them. Of course not, things like honour and respect are credits that have to been earned. I respect my parents because they have earned the right and not because a book of fairy's has told me to. You wont say so I will. haha
This "17 yr old" who removed his original video demonstrates his cowardice. It is not uncommon for a lot of dogmatists (myself being a former one) to harbor such resentment for a free thinker (thus a free person) who is free of a celestial dictatorship. Anger is common because they want perfection. They can't achieve it in themselves and it's upsetting when someone else doesn't attempt to try to be perfect. "I'll pray for you" translates (to me) as "You are foolish." Insulting.
It has inconsistent style and flow, tons of filler, and no coherent plot. It's obviously not a work that relates historical truth. Ok, so it's fiction. The Bible falls short of being even a decent fictional story. Hell, I rank 'Jack and the beanstalk', 'snow white' and 'shrek' as better fictional stories. So as a true historical account the Bible is crap, and by standards appropriate for fiction it's crap. So,... it's crap either way.
The Bible says that in the end, you will either be invited into heaven and eternity with God or He will say "Turn away from me, for I never knew you."
If you EVER believed, then He knew you, so even if you abandon your faith on Earth, you will have wrath to deal with (like everyone else), but God cannot say He never knew you and you will not be turned away.
So the core of your belief is that this invisible person knows where you live and if you don't love him he is going to wait until you die and then torture you forever? Because he loves you?
There are a few people in this world that I love. I can tell you that I love them too much to ever think of torturing them or of causing them any harm at all. Even if they decided they didn't like me anymore I would still wish them well.
So then I have a question for you. Would it suck to be separated from god for eternity? If something sucks and you have to experience it for eternity wouldn't that be analogous with torture? Lets find out:
Torture: "To bring great physical or mental pain upon (another)."
Sounds like you think being outside of god's presence would be mentally painful. Lo and behold that is the definition of torture.
Well then I have another question for you. The terrorists have warned the civilized world that unless they submit to Islam they will torture and punish us with acts of terrorism. But if we convert they will love us and take us into the fold. Should we then submit? Do we change who we are because we are threatened? Is it not more noble to stand up for ones beliefs and not bow to threats of eternal torture?
Secondly, are you saying your god punishes people with "severe mental problems?" If yahweh created you and gave you a malfunctioning brain wouldn't he be responsible for the outcome?
If god is omniscient then that means he knew the way the world was going to turn out before he made the universe.
Omniscient: "Knowledge without limit."
That means he wanted the world to be this way. If he didn't then he would have changed the initial parameters to make things turn out differently. You cannot make a choice that yahweh cannot foresee and so he knew what Satan would do and he knew what Adam would do before he created the universe. Therefore he had to have wanted it this way.
"Self-inflicted torture is the mark of a someone with severe mental problems."
Yes, so I should eternally praise a celestial dictator? Sounds like torture to me. You demonstrate your God's desire to dictate you by your comments. You desire to not be unique and for your life to be given over to your dictator for eternity. For what? His glory? Why don't you have a say in this with Him? Because he is a celestial dictator. Sounds like self inflicted torture. Freedom and peace, Keiko.
Oh yeah their is alote of muslims and catholics and jehova witnesses mormons soo on... and morals like respeting your father and mother are you insignuating that we atheist ont respect are mother and father if morals is all the bible is then it's useless like she sayed you have to cherry pick between stuff like a man can rape but must marry he's victim not divorce and pay he's father a small fortune... this man is digustingly oblivious and dumb
This guy is lying or is stupid and lying. Very shady oh yeah my favorite line for this thiest who responded to the woman in this vid you being converted back solely by attending some religious meetings doesnt prove anything ever heard of the placebo. By oneverting bak this way you prove that you didnt rationaliz like an atheist (point to an theist attempting this again) an atheist would need a proof one that applies the scientific methode relliably like thesis antithesis n synthesis.... duh
She was a bit harsh, but that guy was getting kind of annoying.
His point about 'who created evolution' was actually a good point, though. The respones, "Who created God?", is a very common response used by Atheists. I used it myself a lot until very recently. But I think there is actually a LOT more surrounding this particular issue than (both sides) make it out to be. Forget evolution and just consider existence itself. Why does anything (including God)exist in the first place? Hmmm...
Exodus 21 deals with slavery, allows you to beat a slave to death if they suffer at least a day, trick a Hebrew servant into being a permanent slave, selling your daughter into slavery, death penalty for such as stealing a slave or helping him escape, eye for an eye, hand for a hand, penalty of death for killing a wife but a fine for killing her fetus, and the death penalty for the owner of an ox known to gore people.
The "cast the first stone" tale is not in the oldest copies of John. It seems to be a copying error of a margin comment.
If the OT needed to be ended, why was it started? Prophecies? Early apologists had to confront questions of why the Jesus story was so similar to other legends of the time.
Many of the NT teachings on interpersonal relationships are not much different than Buddhist teachings.
No problem with your beliefs if you are careful to not impose them on others.
I used to impose them and I don't anymore, but not to spread what I would call "the knowledge" would be against my beliefs.
What good is it knowing the wonderful truth if you never tell anyone?
Unfortunately, much of what is being spread is not knowledge or truth, but very cult-like faulty "beliefs" based on what people hear and not what they read and find for themselves.
I used to spread the Good News, I used to be a creationist, and now I regret telling about that stuff now that I know better. A intelligent friend used to argue against natural selection and mutations, then argued for hyper-evolution but within kinds when he realized that the number of species now on Earth could not fit in the Ark. You were anti-evolution and pro-imposition of beliefs but you have learned better. I'm all Voltaire on your right to speak and applaud you for seeing merit or lack of
Haha, this whole thing is a bit beneath you darling. That guy has the intellectual accumen of a precocious Welsh Corgi. Haha, forgive my pretention. (Oh, but I DO think the bible is crap- my parents suck) :)
So sorry for the multiple posts & the post that was posted twice, I marked the 2nd post of the same post as spam myself. Again sorry for the multiple posts.

prev post con... I ignored these events for along time, until I decided maybe there is something to it. At that point arose a tiny bit of faith & began exploring it. If you would like me to share these events, email me via Youtube, but the nature of the events may seem crazy. Though I believe these events are not in the same manner of the man's personal testimony
I agree the man speaking seems irrational. I was agnostic most of my life & asked many questions open-mindedly. Years before I became the Christian I am today I read much of the bible. I have come to terms with many issues I once felt were fallible or immoral. Today I still sometimes find material in the bible that rubs me the wrong way & I seek answers to them & I do not brush them off right away. A good portion of how I received me faith was from (for a lack of a better word) "supernatural".
The theists want it both ways. They want to say "EVERYTHING must have a creator." and then they want to turn around and say "Their god always existed." You can't go around making up rules and then turn around and say your rules have "special" exemptions(that only YOU know about). :/ I call that the "float like a bumblebee, sting like a butterfly" argument technique.
I FEEL YOUR PAIN!! It's a hard knock life being an atheist.
I'm waiting for God to come over there and smite you personally. Then again, he might just be telling his followers to send you creepy video responses. Either way, you'll feel his wrath.
Hello, I hope this message finds you just as healthy an addict as ever. Would you mind sharing with me what moral principles you believe in? I'm interested in learning more about your and other athiests' beliefs.
No exactly, wht he said SHOULD SPARK Questions, it was created by Satan and he put the thought into people to seperate them from Jesus the real and only God and that's proven. eople SHOULD BE SHAMED of themselves especially those who where Christian, they deny the Holy Spirit. OH wowo you've done alot of good stuff there, while people around the world (Jews and CHristians get trashes and persecuted for their believe in REAL GOD JESUS!! questions questions??
Of course they're unfit. Any organism that doesn't result in offspring in naturally unfit. Which, of course, has no bearing on right or wrong. You might as well persecute voluntarily childless couples on that basis.
I think it's hilarious how uninformed that guy is and the fact that he refered to atheists as 'atheist persons' lol or something like that :P. Who CREATED IT!?!?! LMAO XD
You say that you are not going to believe in something without evidence. Belief doesn't work that way. Then you might as well say that you will not believe in anything. If you had evidence, you couldn't call it belief. The closest I come to believing is to calculate probability.
I understand why you are not Christian. I can even understand if some religion, any religion does not make sense to you at all, it is again a personal matter. And I can even understand that you have perfect faith in evolution, O.K. But there is no proof that a God does not exist. I am more inclined to believe that you have more personal reasons for whatever you believe or not believe..
But just like God, there is no proof Zeus, Allah, Thor, invisible elves, and green men living under a mountain in Nevada don't exist. Why believe in any of it?
Just because there is not proof something doesn't exist, doesn't mean it does. You need positive proof.
That is exactly why we atheist don't like...lets say i'm the pope...and that god spoke to me Saying that if everyone in this world who jumps from high buildings will go to heaven...
Would you jump? Since you are already having faith in something you didn't say...see...or hear yourself...how can you tell if god really spoke to him?
That voice coming out of your computer sounds like Rusty Nail. "Candy Cane....Caaaaandyyy Caaaaane." Christians all sound so educated. No wonder us Atheists only make up a fraction of the population.
Am I the only one that has found that most of these "minor" Christians lie on their profiles? I get them left and right. I had one that admitted he was 15 and when I told him that he was a liar he got all mad and started accusing me of everything from Satanism to pedophilia...{Christians are so loving!
Just a little nit-pick here...at around the 4min mark you said to him that he doesn't sound like he was really an atheist because he doesn't know much about atheism. But atheism isn't a philosophy, it is merely a lack of belief in god. Or sometime a belief that no god exists.
Agreed. If he's going to derive his morality from the bible - his sense of right and wrong, he would have to cherry pick. But where does he get his sense of right and wrong? Not from the Bible, there is no distinction between the lovely stories and the stories of rape and murder and stonings, etc. Therefore, his sense of morality does not owe itself to the bible. PERIOD.
I would argue that if you're going to say you are an atheist, you should have knowledge of what that means. You should have knowledge of why the Christian God, and any god, is implausible. It's not enough to say you don't believe. You should have logically worked it all out. I, for instance, will never have doubts because I've logically worked it all out and can reason out the flaws and contradictions in the text.
I suppose most atheists have reasoned their way through it to some self-satisfying degree. But if/when we become more secular, more children will be born into 3rd & 4th generation non-believing families. In this sense they would be atheists but the term will have lost much of its meaning without the theist context. I really didn't care anyway. Take care. :)
I agree that we're born atheist. But if we didn't have the theistic context to contrast with, there wouldn't be a need for the word "atheist". Eventually the distinction will be dropped if it becomes the norm. Also, I think it's perfectly fine to be an atheist without any rational justification at all.
Well. that makes sense. Athiesim is hardly rational. And it's EZ ... you just don't believe in anything, so who needs justification for nothing... right? if there is no God, then there is no absolute morality, only arbitrary and subjective opinion. So basically the whole world could eventually govern themselves by their own opinion.. pretty scary thought
Well, it's not scary to me personally because I've decided to acknowledge everyone as free thinkers and actors. To me, in the Genesis story about the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, God said, "Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." God is beyond our human preferences completely. God is everything whether we like it or not.
I agree.. I also acknowledge everyone as free thinkers. Although we will be held accountable for our choices.. What is scary is the thought of people governing themselves with their own version of morality etc.
Sorry to go over you head with this. I think if we just held true and steadfast to our own (or the) God given commandments and what has been laid out in our law via God and the Bible... ummm... probably would be just fine. It has worked for 230+ years fairly well. Besides what makes you think you know what is best for yourself. Indeed, no man knows the wickedness of his own heart.
As if saying, "I used to be atheist" makes a person be factual, correct, and reasonable now that he/she is not an atheist. Because they were not logical and reasonable in the first place is why they are now X-tians, religious, etc.
i think he called you healthyattic. Wtf is a healthyattic? I will say the bible is mostly crap. And who has to be told to honor their parents. that seems to be a common sense thing in my opinion.
Just in case the guy who made the video sees this, and this happens to be the day when he fancies a nice long "think"; evolution is DNA, DNA is a molecule made of atoms, the atoms bond due to the "laws" of electromagnetism set" 13.5 billion years ago. Ergo evolution is, essentially, the result of, what he would call, electricity.
Nice video, excellent points. Refuting aside a moment, I feel that if you wear that panda shirt again, I shall suspect that that is the only shirt you have. Which is, by all accounts, PANDARIFIC!
No one created evolution. It is a natural thing that occurs. It may also occur on other planets. That is like saying who created lightning or wind or who created earthquakes. No one created earthquakes, it is what happens on a planet like this.
No sane person would latch onto random mythology after being an Atheist. He´s perfect for Christianity, he would have made a horrible Atheist, his brain doesn´t work right, it shows :)
Indeed great reply as always. This young christian seems very ignorant about atheism. He needs to educate about all these topics before. You make me proud to be an atheist.
I'll segue off dragon2wolf's comment. <i>Honor thy father and mother</i> is mostly crap. If it's meant for small children (unlikely), then <i>Duh</i>! If it's meant for young adults, then it's total crap. <i>HONOR</i> must be earned! If your parents fail in your upbringing (ex. they abuse you), then you don't owe them any honor.
profile says he's 26 when she's 16 for the same reason 5,000 = several billion.
Nice job on this, by the way. I'm one of those people who is still really pissed off at theism (well, more at theists). I'd like to addict myself more healthily, so to speak.
ok you tell me thiswho created the first ever cell who created the first living organism???? hmm tell me oo thats right you cant cause u dont know it so why not believe god created it since you have no reasoning of who created it
you feel so happy that someone took your challenge. like i said she is hungary for attention.

@tchapman1977: What if you're wrong that God prefers unthinking toadies to honest people who try to live a good life? And besides, if God doesn't wish for anybody to be cast in the lake of fire, why make one in the first place?
FireRagnarok 2 years ago
@FireRagnarok: Unthinking? Hardly. My parents had their own faiths but never regularly attended church. I came to religion on my own w/o any parental influence. God worked through me to bring me to know Him. It also states in the Bible that it is only through faith that man shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven & not through "good works" lest any man should boast. God created the lake of fire as a place for those that choose not to worship Him. Lack of faith/worship=separation from God=Hell.
tchapman1977 2 years ago
It also states in the bible that some dude's donkey talked to him.
FireRagnarok 2 years ago
@FireRagnarok: It also says that the Jesus & the apostles were persecuted for their beliefs. Rome historically did much to persecute, drive out & kill Christians for their beliefs in the early years. The Bible is divinely-inspired but was written by fallible man & is rife w/allegory & parable so many different interpretations can be drawn from many of the passages. Some are meant to be taken literally & others aren't. God works through you to better understand & know Him.

Honoring your parents no matter what is a very stupid thing to do. Respect and honor have to be earned; you don't just give it without reason.
This guy would tell a child who was starved and raped by the parents to honor those parents. I would only expect an ignorant barbarian to adhere to such a moral code.

In order to cherry-pick the Bible for morals, you must already HAVE your morals.

"I'll pray for you" translates (to me) as "You are foolish." Insulting.
superwolf76 3 years ago
I'll say it: The Bible is CRAP.
So,... it's crap either way.
analubalitious 3 years ago
I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. What does the morality of yahweh have to do with my hypothetical marriage?
cidvisions 3 years ago
The Bible says that in the end, you will either be invited into heaven and eternity with God or He will say "Turn away from me, for I never knew you."
If you EVER believed, then He knew you, so even if you abandon your faith on Earth, you will have wrath to deal with (like everyone else), but God cannot say He never knew you and you will not be turned away.
That is what I believe.
Keiko8383 3 years ago
So the core of your belief is that this invisible person knows where you live and if you don't love him he is going to wait until you die and then torture you forever? Because he loves you?
There are a few people in this world that I love. I can tell you that I love them too much to ever think of torturing them or of causing them any harm at all. Even if they decided they didn't like me anymore I would still wish them well.
Does that mean I am more moral than god?
cidvisions 3 years ago
God does not torture.
If you reject His provision for your soul, i.e. Jesus Christ's death, you will separated from Him for eternity in death.
Keiko8383 3 years ago
So then I have a question for you. Would it suck to be separated from god for eternity? If something sucks and you have to experience it for eternity wouldn't that be analogous with torture? Lets find out:
Torture: "To bring great physical or mental pain upon (another)."
Sounds like you think being outside of god's presence would be mentally painful. Lo and behold that is the definition of torture.
cidvisions 3 years ago
Yes, but since you have been warned that ignorance of His provision will bring this upon you, you will essentially be bringing it upon yourself.
Self-inflicted torture is the mark of a someone with severe mental problems.
Keiko8383 3 years ago
Well then I have another question for you. The terrorists have warned the civilized world that unless they submit to Islam they will torture and punish us with acts of terrorism. But if we convert they will love us and take us into the fold. Should we then submit? Do we change who we are because we are threatened? Is it not more noble to stand up for ones beliefs and not bow to threats of eternal torture?
cidvisions 3 years ago
Secondly, are you saying your god punishes people with "severe mental problems?" If yahweh created you and gave you a malfunctioning brain wouldn't he be responsible for the outcome?
cidvisions 3 years ago
God does not give people mental problems.
The problems of this world are a result of sin.
The world is broken.
It was not originally meant to be this way.
Keiko8383 3 years ago
If god is omniscient then that means he knew the way the world was going to turn out before he made the universe.
Omniscient: "Knowledge without limit."
That means he wanted the world to be this way. If he didn't then he would have changed the initial parameters to make things turn out differently. You cannot make a choice that yahweh cannot foresee and so he knew what Satan would do and he knew what Adam would do before he created the universe. Therefore he had to have wanted it this way.
cidvisions 3 years ago
yes and you are one. Mentally broken.

I believe that Jesus came to end the Old Testament laws and that they are nothing more than historical data and stories.
Jesus said to love everyone and "let he who has not sinned cast the first stone."
Everyone seems to completely overlook this when they get on the subject of the Old Testament.
I have a theist friend who believes in evolution, so now I have decided that it no longer matters to me what people believe about where we come from.
It is where we will end up that matters most.
Keiko8383 3 years ago
The "cast the first stone" tale is not in the oldest copies of John. It seems to be a copying error of a margin comment.
If the OT needed to be ended, why was it started? Prophecies? Early apologists had to confront questions of why the Jesus story was so similar to other legends of the time.
Many of the NT teachings on interpersonal relationships are not much different than Buddhist teachings.
No problem with your beliefs if you are careful to not impose them on others.
8WholeThing 3 years ago
I used to impose them and I don't anymore, but not to spread what I would call "the knowledge" would be against my beliefs.
What good is it knowing the wonderful truth if you never tell anyone?
Unfortunately, much of what is being spread is not knowledge or truth, but very cult-like faulty "beliefs" based on what people hear and not what they read and find for themselves.
This guy sounds like an idiot.
There is no informational merit or value.

AbramSailor79 4 years ago
The theists want it both ways. They want to say "EVERYTHING must have a creator." and then they want to turn around and say "Their god always existed." You can't go around making up rules and then turn around and say your rules have "special" exemptions(that only YOU know about). :/ I call that the "float like a bumblebee, sting like a butterfly" argument technique.

hanniballecturer 4 years ago
Just a little nit-pick here...at around the 4min mark you said to him that he doesn't sound like he was really an atheist because he doesn't know much about atheism. But atheism isn't a philosophy, it is merely a lack of belief in god. Or sometime a belief that no god exists.
Barklord 4 years ago
True, but forgive me for generalizing here. He just doesn't seem to know what he's talking about as a whole.
healthyaddict 4 years ago
PERIOD.
boylebongo 4 years ago
I would argue that if you're going to say you are an atheist, you should have knowledge of what that means. You should have knowledge of why the Christian God, and any god, is implausible. It's not enough to say you don't believe. You should have logically worked it all out. I, for instance, will never have doubts because I've logically worked it all out and can reason out the flaws and contradictions in the text.
boylebongo 4 years ago
I suppose most atheists have reasoned their way through it to some self-satisfying degree. But if/when we become more secular, more children will be born into 3rd & 4th generation non-believing families. In this sense they would be atheists but the term will have lost much of its meaning without the theist context. I really didn't care anyway. Take care. :)
Barklord 4 years ago
What? Of course, we're born atheist. We have to be indoctrinated if we're going to have religious beliefs.
boylebongo 4 years ago
I agree that we're born atheist. But if we didn't have the theistic context to contrast with, there wouldn't be a need for the word "atheist". Eventually the distinction will be dropped if it becomes the norm. Also, I think it's perfectly fine to be an atheist without any rational justification at all.
Barklord 4 years ago
Well. that makes sense. Athiesim is hardly rational. And it's EZ ... you just don't believe in anything, so who needs justification for nothing... right? if there is no God, then there is no absolute morality, only arbitrary and subjective opinion. So basically the whole world could eventually govern themselves by their own opinion.. pretty scary thought
jercpen 4 years ago
Well, it's not scary to me personally because I've decided to acknowledge everyone as free thinkers and actors. To me, in the Genesis story about the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, God said, "Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil." God is beyond our human preferences completely. God is everything whether we like it or not.
Barklord 4 years ago
I agree.. I also acknowledge everyone as free thinkers. Although we will be held accountable for our choices.. What is scary is the thought of people governing themselves with their own version of morality etc.
jercpen 4 years ago
Yeah...trying to figure out your own shit is pretty scary...we should let a small group of people decide on what's good for us all right?
Sarcasm...

Sorry to go over you head with this.

I'd like to addict myself more healthily, so to speak.

ok you tell me thiswho created the first ever cell who created the first living organism???? hmm tell me oo thats right you cant cause u dont know it so why not believe god created it since you have no reasoning of who created it
spitfire4462 4 years ago
The problem is that there's no evidence that the 'first cell' was 'created'.
Why the assumption that there has to be a creator?

Funny you mentioned stoning disobedient children to death, that is also in the N.T. They cant use Jesus to get out of that one.
In Mark 7:7-13 and Matthew 15:3-9 they have Jesus upping the preists for letting disobedient children live, calling them hypocrites and everything.
