Totally agree with the free ministry resource ideas to a certain point.
As a part time youth minister, time is very valuable (I had a taste of full time youth ministry and am looking forward to getting back to it soon). Life as a part timer is more difficult, since it is harder to find that time to completely be original. Personally, I do my very best to tweak and customize, but the crunch of the week sometimes causes me to borrow from others.
Free resources are a huge blessing to me, and I am an anal planner. I plan my calendar out at least a year in advance (for the most part... yes, even talk outlines). I agree with Luke in that what I find most helpful is that in providing those resources, is that it helps us get creative in ways that maybe we weren't able to before. That's me though. I know a lot of youth pastors who aren't planners, and for them, I think it's more of an enabler. But I think the pros outweigh the cons.
