Imagine oppressed African Americans in the last 40 years; that's how the Canadian people treat their indigenous ... Canadian "niggers". Be aboriginal in Edmonton or Calgary; tough living.
its true that there are many Aboriginal people that give us the bad rep, and it is shame. Thank you very much Akina for showing people that us Native people are not truely bad, god bless you and thanks:)
I'm not Cree (although I am partly Aboriginal), but I think that the Cree people are a very important part of Canada and of my home province of Alberta! So it was great to see our anthem sung in Cree before an NHL game.
THIS YOUNG WOMAN INSTILLS SO MUCH CREE PRIDE IN MY HEART!!!!! KEEP DOIN WHAT UR DOIN AKINA, IT'LL TAKE YOU ALONG WAY IN LIFE!!!!!!! MAY CREATOR BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!!!! HAI HAI!!!
I have to say as an American that the inclusionary nature of Canadian society is one of the most beautiful things in the world. A great nation full of great people.
How can anyone put a thumbs down to this. She is 13 and can sing our national anthem in her own language. I guess they are just jealous that she can and they probably can't. This is amazing! (=
@blainesevenfold00 which provinces of canada are you from the Quebec side or Ont. side and how do you say hello on your own cree language us up north we say " WATCHIYA " which means HELLO
Cree is my language, Wachiya means hello, Dye teen? Means what are you doing?.. Mwee yesh means Nothing .. Jii akwee means How bout you? .. Ehgoodeh means Bye.. Lol
Man, I would love to see that happen in the United States! It would be grand to see a member of the Navajo Nation Sing the Star Spangled Banner before some Baseball Game. It would be a great way to show support for the diversity that makes our land so great!
tapwe kih takakih takosin,,don't let anyone tell you otherwise,,,way to represent the cree girl,,,your one of the few who got the chance to live the dream aboriginal ppls have been wanting even if it was juss for a moment that moment will stay with us aboriginals forever,,,that rite there is one of the many steps we still have to climb to be recognized as a ppl
@lanarox1 Yeah woodland cree can count as Cree I think they speak with a "th" dialect. Have you heard of Pelican narrows cree nation, yeah they speak woodland cree.
meewasin...go canucks go...this is something else..I held my head a little higher and my chest stuck out a little further..and I actually saluted the flag..like I said meewasin
I'm Cree from Saskatchewan. And I don't like how the spell check doesn't recognize Cree when I write it. Also I'm going to learn how to sing this. HELL YEAH!
i now this song in cree i did this when i was like 3 yrs old i kneww this song then i watached hockey when she sang and when i heard i was like OMG i noe this song and it sounds nice with a drum but i noe girls are not aloud to touch it and im cree and i love to go to pow-wows,round dance, sweatlodges, and sundance i usually go to saskatchewan and alberta and all cultarals are beautiful......
OMG Akina is such a good singer!! She swims with me and my friends on a swim team and i never heard her sing!! wow!!! SOOO Cool she should go for canadian idol!!!!
great voice. i had goose bumps listening to that song in my language. you should put jonathan cheechoo's anthem in crre on youtube. i would love to hear that one too.
They actually won that game, plus recently after that the Cree Chief from the district that's in Edmonton said that the team that she sings the anthem for almost on a regular basis whenever in Cree...have not lost a single game as a result of that! Keep singing!
she is nice singer
