NO actually @greeneyemonsta YOU are missing the fucking point yourself .
the WATER part is not a fuckin metaphore the feds are literally getting water from masses of water that are contributed to major cities as a human right and they're selling it back to us . HUMAN RIGHT , being sold to us for our own money . no bueno .
@Zeharath They're not mutually exclusive, you know. The point of the song is, we're so greedy, even our water is for profit. This indicates a radical social shift, and that's a major theme of the song. But the water here is also literal, as an example of that shift.
he is sayin..NWO is coming, they are controlling the water, so get your own supply, wisen up, and americans stop wasting water like its oxygen, take short showers, use water more consciouslly knowing that someone somewhere else in the planet has never had clean water before, that the earth only has 1% fresh water..and alot of that is toxic because of oil spills, and has to be shared with a rising world population. add it up. wars over water? "laugh and take it as a joke if you wana" !!
This song is plainly about the improper use of water and how much were wasting it when others need it. It really is only called new world water in reference to America aka "The new world" I think your taking a bit far taking it into the illuminati and conspiratist theory. The song is Sick, the message is powerful. Nuff said.
I believe he is saying that the New World Order (Illuminati) is responsible for this new water, hence the name New World Water. How the Illuminati is fucking up the worlds water, how the make a profit out of it, and what they do to the drinking water.
I already know i'ma get mega thumbs down but this song is not so much about the new world order as it is moreso of a mechanism to have you associate the new world order as something that's needed or as necessary to living as clean water. Ya'll gave nemesis thumbs down but he was right whether he new it or not. He IS just talking about water, but then he chants New World Water, New World, on the hook. Which could just as easily be New World Order, New World... gotta put bein a fan aside to peep..
Ummm..no. Sorry, it's clearly addressing a microcosmic corrupt issue to shine light on the macrocosm of several corruptions all touched by the new world order, It succinctly links water: a vitally need resource ~to the new world order types becauuuuse...they are linked!!!! Duh! They alter water with several toxic chemicals! Double duh. It's really self evident in the lyrics. You're really reading too much into everything if you can misinterpret this so badly.
I think this is more along the lines. Maybe it is the double entendre but I'm going to say that it could just as easily be about the way we live, how consumerism/capitalism is kind of a plague and it is going to put us into a position we don't want to be in. I don't really take Mos Def for a conspiracy theorist of any sort - I think he's a little more intelligent than that. But, I could know nothing at all, too.
@Swag2Spare i get what your saying, but i think @greeneyemonsta touched on it. Even tho hes saying new world water, its acting as lik a metaphor (not sure if thts the word im looking for) for politics. Think hes relating the water to money, in a clever way, its a well thought out song, mos def is a complex dude thts for sure
I think alot of people miss the point and dont give Mos Def credit he is a very smart guy. Look at it this way, he is talking about The New World Order, he is cleverly masking the meaning in a double entendré... Think about it, "new world water is politics" and politics like water control many vital areas in our lives. One our "water" is poisioned society suffers.... it makes sense to me, I dont know if you guys agree... But lyrically this is on point, no doubt about it.
lol it could be....but what about when he says ' america be desperatly wastin it..when another country be desperatly needin it'.....does that mean the other country desperatly needs the illuminati?.....i think this is for the most part about water
@nemesis700 yea its clever how its close to describin the new world order , but its more about how something as basic and necessary as water is turned into a business. i don't know if you got how he was making the intro seem like a cheesy commercial for a new product, when we know its been around for all time.
@greeneyemonsta Yes lyrically this song is on point. In this song Mos is eluding to the fact that control of the water supplies is control of the planet & water is becoming scarce. Everything on this planet depends upon water which is essentially the most valuable resource. We are approaching a point where its value will be priceless & the New World Order will use this to its advantage as a means of control. *This is EXTREMELY serious shit!!! Pollution = Over Population Solution!*
@greeneyemonsta i'm sorry but i think you didn't get the message right man.. its about the privatization of all the water companys! they mess everything up so u are forced to buy THEIR product, they want u to be a slave of this system wake up bro!
We won't know how important the water is until the well runs dry. Water is the most abundant resource on this planet. Too bad we've polluted it to the point we don't know what's in it or what brands are safe to drink. Filtered, recycled, mountain stream, tap etc. Only the Mighty Mos could point out how serious this problem is becoming in a way that's informative and entertainig at the same time!!
fresh water isn't very abundant, salt water is, but you can't drink salt water.
We're feeling the water crunch in Cali right now, Salmon need water more than we do, so now we have to pay more for the drug-tainted chlorine/fluoride infused water...
(by drug-tainted I'm talking about the estrogen, and prozac and other chemicals that aren't filtered out become they're too small molecularly...)
It's about sneaky fuckers (clever fuckers) selling the most basic need for life to exist. Unless you have gills. Dumb fucks.

Such as" Used to have minerals and zinc in it (New World Water)
Now they say it got lead and stink in it..." and "Used to be free now it cost you a fee" and "The type of cats who pollute the whole shore line
Have it purified, sell it for a dollar twenty-five
Now the world is drinkin it" also "Epidemics hopppin up off the petri dish ,
Control centers try to play it all secretive ,
To avoid public panic and freakiness..."
