  • What they didn't show on this broadcast that they showed on The Sportschannel NE was the side angle where he stepped out of bounds!

  • i watched this game as kid..this is a reason basketball my fav sport...

  • Love Dell Harris...!!!!

  • Man, I can't believe I found this on here. Thanks for posting it!

I'll never forget this game or this shot.

  • Nick Van Exellent!

  • @ zooshoes Do you have Van Exel's shot in Game 5 of the '95 playoffs against San Antonio ?

  • One of the most memorable games of my childhood! Last game the Lakers and Celtics would play each other at the old Boston Garden, and Van Exel pulls it off with an amazing shot. Still remember this game like it was yesterday.

  • Nick Van Exel... AMAZING PLAYER. SO energetic and exciting!

  • @glhiphopmusic Now what I was talking about was "seasoning" of the players i.e: experience etc, etc... The coach is the coach, fine but those players of the 94/95 squad still needed that certain something. Again, Championship team? OH NAY. Fun team to watch? OH YES. Anyways wow... I feel like we're on Lakersground or something. LOL. Love the debate Glhiphop. (On a side note: My bad, that Nick and Maj pushing of the refs incidents were the 95/96 campaign. OOPS. haha)

  • I love this 94-95 team

  • what a lucky shot

  • @alexmackovjak he practiced that shot along wth the running half court shot. he make those turn and shoot 3s.

  • And with that shot, The Lake Show was born!!!

  • No Shaq no kobe, the real lake show all they needed was a real coach, Dell Harris Fail. I miss that team.

  • I like how Rick Fox (number 44) was just standing there like " I cant believe tht muthafucker made tht!!!!!!" his stance is priceless. He was boxing the lakers out and all the sudden Nick made it. KMSL

  • @MrJordanjump LOL, ya know.... that's probably when Foxy put on some "Purple and Gold" sunglasses. He was probably like, "screw this franchise, as soon as my contract is up, I'm going HOLLYWOOD BABY!" hahaha. 2 years later, waddayaknow.... HE DID. Good decision Foxy. 3 rings. Not bad, not bad at all! :D

  • lol, i remember that game too. nick was one of my favorite laker players growing up. wasn't it the last game between the celts/lakes in the old garden? if it was... BURN boston, haha! ;D

  • @dos21977 It was! hahaha

  • goodnight boston garden LMAO

  • God I loved that '94-'95 team. That squad never, ever quit and Little Nicky was one of the greatest clutch Lakers ever.

  • @jzbass72 Yeah, I loved that team too! That was when the "Lake Show" was born with Ced, Eddie, Nick, Vlade, Elden, peeler, etc.... those were the days. We were not "championship caliber" yet, but it was a good team that was fun to watch.

  • @dos21977 yes they were, the coaching was not championship caliber!

  • @glhiphopmusic Thx for the reply. Okay.... I don't want to debate over this but, NO THEY WHERE NOT. It pains me to say that. But at the time (the 94/95 campaign) I believe it was the the first time that group were playing together. (adding EJ/CED etc) Wasn't the year before Randy "EFFIN" Phund was coaching? You're going to tell me after going through the "Phund" year, we were championship caliber? Uh, NO. The 94/95 team were talented but they still needed seasoning.

  • @dos21977 Seasoning it's coaching when you have the talent or some of it on your team, it's your job to get them going. The Lake Show made Dell look like a great coach, he wasn't. Look at the coaches who have made the finals in the 2000's, Doc Rivers, Van Gundy, Avery Johnson, Byron Scott, Larry Bird. Weren't some of these first time or on their second team coaching? Those that weren't were Brown twice, Riley and The Boy toy.

  • @glhiphopmusic I don't care if PJ or that caliber were coaching that team, no way they were going to win a "ship" that year. (Although it was a weak year to win it while MJ was out of the league.) But I feel you though. My Teenager self way back when would say, "HELL YEAH! CHAMPIONSHIP BABY!" My older wiser self now is saying. "probably not". It was a great team to watch back then, fun times and I'll leave it at that. (didn't help that Nick and Maj pushed some refs that year though. LOL)

  • @dos21977 It's all about match ups. Look at who Houston beat Orlando and New York. We would have matched up just as good (if not better) as the Rocket line up did is all I'm saying. Look where Dell Harris has been coaching, once I realized he was on Dallas Mavs I had that gut feeling the Heat were going to come back and beat the Mavs when I saw him on the bench and they did. He was in Chicago and they have been losing then he went to New Jersey. Who knows where the heck he is now?

  • @glhiphopmusic Hey how are ya doin. Ironically enough, I do believe in matches as well and no we would of NOT matched up well against Orlando or NY. Why? We would been destroyed by either front lines. Look at this: Shaq/Ho.Grant, Ewing/Oak, and us...Divac/Campbell. Which one is the LEAST intimidated? Also from top to bottom I LOVED our starters and some reserves (A.P, Sedale...) the rest? Who were we going to count on? PIG? Antonio Harvey? Randolf Keys? The other 2 had better talent 1-12.

  • @glhiphopmusic Go and have a look at our 94-95 team online. Now, can you honestly say that we were Championship caliber with that roster up and down? From my view: No way. uh-uh. Good team but Champs?...no. With the Dell issue: So you telling me you are going to solely blame Dell for the Mavs shortcomings for their lost in the Finals in 06? ...LOL now I heard it all.... I did not know Dell had this knack of misfortune! You are telling me that they lost because DELL was sitting on the bench?!

  • 0:43 Poor Rick Fox had to suffer. Happens to a majority of Celtic players.

  • HAHA...Rick Fox # 44 for Boston...before he became one of the good guys!! :)

  • @hig only thing I dont like bout this clip I try to forget where he came from

  • yess baby!!!! i miss these lakers!! but i am so thankful for todays lakers who are also going to BEAT THE CELTICS!!!

yes! man i miss CHICK N STU

  • ???

  • Magic Baby Hook I'm guessing?

  • This was the very last game at the Boston Garden.

  • i had forgotten all about this, maybe its cuz i was 7 at the time, but now that i saw it, it brings back some memories, wow, i think i want to cry. GOOOO LAKER, REPEAT, REPEAT, REPEAT,

  • AMAZING!

  • RICK FOX1!!

  • man van exel loved that guy my favorite player growing up wanted to play PG like him i remember this shot like it was yesterday

  • Nick Van Exel GOD

  • i remember watching this game. i couldn't stop jumping around. lol

  • it's hard to think what's a good match-up for da 2010 finals?

    LAL vs. BOS

    --or--

    CLE vs. LAL

  • east: ORL or BOS

    west: LAL or DEN

  • lol east is cavs vs maybe boston

  • @littshepkid lol cavs in ur dreams bud cavs suck so bad now that lebron is gone and lebron always screwes up in the playoffs anyway

  • boston doesn't have a chance even though i want them to come 2 chances lequeer fuks up like last time or he gets injured

  • NIck the quick good pg till fisher came

  • Look at Rick Fox on the Celts.

  • My favorite buzzer beater from Van eXel was during the Playoffs against San Antonio. I think it was during this year. I remember when he hit that three pointer all the Spurs fans were FLIPPING HIM OFF.....HE WAS FUNNY as hell....I wonder if this dude has that video

  • Yeah, that shot against the Spurs was the same year as this one. I remember the series before the Spurs, against the Sonics, Van Exel outplayed Gary Payton all series. I loved that 95 Laker squad with Van Exel, Eddie Jones, and Ceballos.

  • I remember this. I was coming back from work. I worked the swing shift from 5 pm to 2 am. I had recorded this on my vcr. When I watched this I couldn't go back to sleep because of this ending. Man the Lakers were pretty decent that year for a bunch of scrubs. Eddie Jones was my favorite Laker that time and Van Exel

  • The LAKE SHOW

  • BOHICA (Bend Over Here It Comes Again)BOSTON.**** LAKERS 2009 WORLD CHAMPS*************wuuuuuuuuuu!!!!!!!!!

  • Rick Fox was #44 for the Celtics; he became the starting SF for the Lakers in their Championship years

  • Awesome that this was the last game the Lakers played at the old Garden. Just a big F.U!

  • Fuck all Boston sports, go Lakers!!

  • fuck all LA sports, beat LA!

  • Bring it next year...finals 2010!

  • yea baby yea!!

  • These scrubs act as if they just won the title.

  • the lakers were scrubs relatively back when (92-95) even with vlade. but nick van exel was never a scrub, nothing but clutch

  • they needed something to celebrate I don't think they made the playoffs nor did they think they were going to make em...there's a big rivalry between the two teams so a close win like that is something to celebrate.

  • wow... i remember watching that game... feels like yesterday... 14 years ago already.

  • i love nick and the lakers til lda day i die...lakers for 09 champs

  • Nothing warms my heart like watching a Laker break a Celtic's.

  • This was a nice team... Didn't really have a star, but Van Exel, Ceballos, Divac, Jones, Christie etc. played pretty good. Del Harris was doing a great job as well.

  • ahhh one of the few highlights from the mid 90's lakers. I love it.

  • LOL look at Rick Fox!

  • I know right... he's like "what the hell?!"

  • I guess he got the last laugh, winnings rings with the Lakers.

    Van Exel went to Cancun.

  • Yea but he will never be remembered the way Nick will be. Nick=one of the most talented point guards to ever play. He did whatever he wanted on the court, whenever he felt like doing it. He played on his own terms. Rick Fox cud stare at his rings all he wants, at the end of the day he's still sorry ass Rick Fox, a sheep. Nick's a straight up wolf!

  • thats the best evaluation of a guy like rick fox ive ever heard

  • that's a good comment right there

  • Nick Van Exel is one of my favorite Laker players of all-time.

  • Nick the Quick rules. He was darn good at making those buzzer beater shots.

  • yess dino radja, eric montross! ric fox!

  • and pierce couldnt do it without kg and allen. XD get off pierces dick you little celdick fuck!

  • What did Pierce win before Garnett & Ray Allen came to boston? I recall in 2002, when pierce and the celtics had a 2 games to 1 lead over Jason Kidd's nets in the Eatern conference finals, boston loses the next 3 games in a row! And during that summer, Pierce was on the USA Basketball team playing for the FIBA World Championship. His team finishes in 6th place, that is the worst finish ever by a USA mens team with NBA players!

  • haha Rick Fox

  • hahaha they r all going to los angeles ..well lebron and nash are bosh just go to ny

  • lmao! del harris is pumped up.

  • the celts better enjoy being on top before lebron, nash, and bosh go to NY in 2010

  • yeah and? The NBA rigged the draft so the Knicks got Patrick Ewing and they still never won....let them go to NY, they'd still find ways to lose

  • LOL, uhm no. None of those guys you mentioned are going to NYK. Lebron is a Cav for life. Nash may go since he likes D'Antoni's system but Bosh won;t go because he wants to win Titles and D,ANtoni does not coach defense and defense wins titles. All these Knick fans crack me up. They think those stud players are automatically gonna go to them in 2010. They also think Nate Robinson is a good player when he has no business being in the NBA.

  • couldn't have said it better myself.

The Cavs owners will pay Lebron whatever he wants, Knicks can match but when money's on the line he'll stay in Cleveland. Knicks can have Nash, by 2010 he'll be 33 and past his prime. Bosh is a defensive player and he wouldn't fit in at all with D"Antoni.

Knick fans make me laugh....the Knicks don't just get whoever they want, they're not the Yankees.

Who says Lebron won't replace KG in Boston in 2010? Would anyone see that coming?

  • I agree with you guys, New York is treating it's players like shit, they don't have any form of elegance when trying to clear their salary cap. It's sad to see that Curry isn't even playing the whole season. But, summer of 2010 is still going to be a blast! Just for the record, Nash will be 36 next year and his prime is really long gone.

  • die celtics die

  • at 00:44 you can see rick fox!

I think after that shot he thought "shit, maybe it's better to join the lakers..." ;-)

    good choice Rick!

  • His greatest shot was against San Antonio in the playoffs.

  • You Sell-Out Celtics better buy some more all stars for next season! The Lakers are young and will be back with Bynum next season! Always remember celtic fans, Kobe has 3 rings, pirece, garnett & allen have 1. Kobe will win a gold medal next month, something pierce will never have! Dum-ass

  • Thank you!!!

Lakers are going to kill the league next season no doubt!

Nick The Quick Van Exel will always be the shit! HA!

  • @quick96 yes we did

this was posted 2 years ago and we won 2 yrs straight

  • We're way past that now.

How does a season sweep feel?

And Kobe didn't even have to fake an injury to do it either.

Just a little something to think about, DOUCHE!

  • yeah...fouling Kevin Garnett out with 10 minutes left in the game.

You think they'd do that to Kobe in LA? Stern would be shot for that....

Lets see you get by the Hornets, Blazers and Spurs because we'll be waiting in the Finals.

*holds up NBA Finals Trophy* You want it, come and get it

  • Where are you waiting? We've been on the mountain top waiting for you.

  • @DoomDarenxbourg who "Dum-ass" is that remains to be seen my friend. By the way Kobe has 5 Rings, remember? And who cares about gold medal?

  • @Aelbereth Wasn't pierce on the 2002 USA Fiba Basketball team? He was & they finished in 6th place. That was the worst finish ever by the US in internationl play. I posted my previous comment 3 yrs ago.

  • at least the lakers beat the celtics back then

  • Don't worry... we'll be back.

  • @janin101 we beat them now to!!!!

  • nick was the last laker to score at the boston garden

  • Rick Fox didn't win shit until he went to the Lakers

  • Get ready for a repeat!!!!

  • haha rick fox was on the celtics that time.

and i can't believe there is a black man whose last name is lynch. wow

  • i kno a few black ppl with that last name

  • And now they fight for the championship.

  • crazy rick fox was on the celtics back then!

  • What was the date of this game?

  • It was 1/20/1995...........118-120 for the Lakers!!!! I'm a celtics fan so i was very disappointed that day.............

  • those van exel led lakers were fun to watch.

  • Nick's 2nd greatest shot -- # 1 was against San Antonio in the '95 playoffs, game 5.

  • damn, good fckin memories

  • poor fox..

  • "Yeah, yeah baby!"

  • cool shot

  • Garden's last Celtic game.

  • nope, this is the last Lakers-Celtics game in the old Garden!!!

  • A few weeks later........ BOSTON at Los Angeles Lakers 118 - 92......... nobody tells nothing about that?????? Strange..... very very strange....

  • Was that the last game between the Lakers and the Celtics at the Forum? No, so it means nothing.

Van Exel shut down the Boston Garden with that shot, bitter Celtics fan.

  • Rick Fox as a Celtic.

  • LOL. . NiCK THE QUiCK. . @00:42 YOU SEE RiCK FOX HEADiNG FOR THA LOCKER BACK WHE HE WAS WiTH THE CELTiCS

  • anthony peeler, vlade, van exel, eddie jones, sam bowie, pig miller, elden campbell, this sht is old school. lol

  • I'd like to see any games from the 1995 Celtics/Magic playoff series

  • me too

  • me too

  • Especially the Game 1 124-77 Orlando win..man, that had to be one of the absolute worst waxings in playoff history..

  • Hey, that was Sam Bowie, i forgot we had him ROFLMAO!!!

  • Where can I get this game?

    I want it...

  • This is only '95, looks about the 80s haha!

  • final year for Boston Garden.

  • hahaha. Sam Bowie. lol

  • Nick Van Exel and Eddie Jones, favorite Lakers and then Shaq had to oust em both

  • Exactly.

  • Remember when the Lakers used to owned Payton and the Sonics

  • lakers homie

  • 1995 was the year i became a laker fan i discovered basketball after watching paul pierce play high school basketball

  • was watching this live.Last Laker/Celtic game at the Garden.

  • Van Excel was such an awesome player. He was one of my favorite's from the 90's. He was very under-rated and it's a crying shame that he never got more respect.

  • Its so great to hear Chick Hearn again. Miss the guy. I cant remember how many game winning shots the Lakers have had over the years against the Celtics.

  • Fu*ken awesome shot! I watched it live the first time back in 1995, and I've recalled it in my mind many times since then... Today, it was on my mind again and I thought I'd check youtube to see if somebody had posted the clip... Thanks! N.V.E. was the man, and that Lakers team had a lot of grit and determination... I miss those guys!

  • Look at Ceballos #23 at 0:56. Looked he was playing for the Celts, like he didnt even care wtf

  • Ced was busy talking trash to the refs... so was Del Harris... The refs blew the call right before, Dino Radja hit the runner which gave the Celts the lead. That's why Stu said, "That's naturally right."

Still one of my favorite plays ever. Anyone who can put the Celts away in the last game at Boston Garden will always have my respect.

  • i remember peleer from the SNES games

  • PLO tactics, i feel the same way about van exel. Even tho he wasnt the greatest Laker, i loved his unique flair for the game. nobody really plays the game quite like he does, with his herky jerky moves and weird shooting form. Oh, and dude was mad clutch too! i loved how he could miss 20 shots during the game, but hit the one that counted!

  • Oh and fuck Del Harris with an aids infected dildo

  • I still remembered this shot to this day, and although it's been over 12 years since I've seen it, this is exactly how I remembered it.

Nick is my favorite Laker of all time, and one of the most insane clutch players we will ever see. I cried when he was traded.

  • Anyone has the one from the playoffs (94 or 95, I think) against spurs where Vlade tipped a shot towards half court and Van hit a running one-hander to save the Lakers from elimination? Anyone remember that one?

  • I like how del harris thinks hes the shit after lol

  • LOL! He was rippin' one of the Refs a new one because they blew an out of bounds call on David Wesly that lead to the Celtic possession that gave them the lead. This was the last game the Lakers played at Boston Garden. Nick "The Quick" sent the fans home stunned.

  • hey look its Rick Fox in his Boston days. haha.

  • I have this game. There was a story in the local LA papers about Ced sulking about something team related -- Chick alluded to that story during that very game. This was Jan 95, mind you. Didn't take half a season w/ the Lakers before Ced started flaking out.

  • You have the game?

    Let me buy a copy.

  • I'm lookin to trade for Chick Hearn broadcasts from 1995 or earlier. If you have any that I don't or know anyone who does, let me know and I'll be glad to trade w/ them and they can pass the game onto you.

  • Ok I'll find out.

  • No, YOU blow ass. Now shut the hell up and keep your Laker hater comments to yourself.

  • LOL, I remember this game winning shot vividly! I was 13 years old, and I remember having a little miniature rubber basketball credit-card-signup-giveaway freebies in my hand. I was steaming that Boston hit a shot with 2.4 seconds to put them up by one. Then Van Exel hit the shot, I got so excited I meant to slam the ball off the wall but I missed and hit a picture frame knocking it off the wall and shattering it! I lied to my parents when they came home, told them it fell. LOL. Memories. :)

  • NVE FTW!!!!1

  • fuckin nick the quick, and of course, sir chick.

    r.i.p. chickybaby

  • I know right after t he basket goes in he jus acts like nothing happened lol.

  • I remember that music....KCAL used it from 90-96, back when all they carried where the Lakers. And Yes the Lakers did own the Garden. Now the Celtics are pure garbage.

  • awesome dude! thanks for posting

  • jzbass72 - I agree completely. That team, pre Shaq and Kobe, was always in every game. Van Exel was pure clutch. Remember game 5 against the Spurs that year when he hit that running 3 pointer to send the series to a game 6?

  • LOl rick fox is there !! haahaha

  • That '94-'95 Laker squad is one of my all time favorites. They had talent and a good coach, but weren't nearly as powerful as the Showtime or Shaq & Kobe squads. What they did have was a terrific, never-say-die attitude.

  • I made this video and have the full length game among others. If you have any games from 80-95 that you'd like to trade, please PM me here. Thx.

  • lakers owned the boston garden

  • that was a fun team to watch i remember

  • wow nick great shot

  • I've been looking for this for years!!!

Nick closed the book on the Boston Garden...

  • I can't believe I was actually there at the Garden for this one! Everyone was so quiet when Van Exel hit the dagger.

  • :jam2:

  • i totally remember that shot. one of the best shots (yet underated) shots in laker history!
