@sfcard Thanks for your comment. The Tanpura is played both ways - straight up as well as on its side. Nothing "funny" about it. Laying it on its side enables the player to rest the elbow on it, enabling restful playing for a very long time. Many artistes favour this position for this reason. A good example from yesteryear is the late Ustad Amir Khan, the great vocalist. Thanks.
not used to seeing tamboura played on its side. funny, it sounds the same tho'
