I dunno why but before picking Mikey, Weezer put an ad in the L.A. Weekly looking for a bassist. I was interviewed on the phone but didn't list Weezer as my main influence, so I didn't get to audition. Mikey was much better than me anyway. Another great musician gone too soon! RIP Mikey!

The general community needs to learn to enjoy good shit. Weezer IS good. Listening to people bitch about their change in sound over the years (too grungy, not grungy enough, they sold out) no one really gives a shit what bassist you like or don't like. I'm going to demonstrate this...

One of my favorite songs is "King" from Red Album. I love all of Weezer's albums but I think Red is superior to Pinkerton.

@toddbolden i like matt 2nd. he was an original member and i would say the most popular of weezer bassists. prior to joing weezer mikey sent numerous bass lines to rivers for writing inspiration (but rivers never used any of them). instead four of them were used for some songs by juliana hatfield. i certainly respect matt w/o a doubt. but mikey was one of those "just go with it" guys and kinda chill. but also matt never played hash pipe cause he was already gone long before it was even written.

@artdude179 totally agreed. mikey is my favorite by far. matt second. scott third. matt always seemed like he was trying to get a ton of attention on stage, like annoyingly so, like way too much of a stage presence to where he just seemed obnoxious. scott has like ZERO stage presence. but mikey had the perfect amount. he had a ton of stage presence (in a good way) because you could tell he was genuinely having fun, and he was super chill and not to mention hilarious.
