I was a firefighter stationed there from '92-'94, Misawa is where I first learned to drive in snow, I scoff at the "paralyzing" snows on the East Coast this year
Nice Vid. Was stationed in Misawa from 1985 to 1987. I think it was the winter of 86 where I went in to work with no snow on the ground, got sent home (non essentional) at 1000 hours, took 2 hours to get home and by nightfall, there was about 8 feet of snow on the ground. The snow was so deep that I could step out of my second floor window onto the top of the snow bank. That was one HUGE blizzard out of Russia that day. Base was shut down for 3-4 days I think.
Hello, This must be north area housing . I used to live off the first left coming up the hill into north area housing then made a another left 3 bldg on left as well. I forgot the number. It does bring back memories from back in 89-92.
I lived in misawa in the early 1960s and love the snow as a child I need seem to cool for all the snow we had I have a photo of my dad shoveling and the snow is waist high on him come see my photos and video I have went we lived in Misawa on my space page
Nice video. Stationed on Security Hill from 73-75. Misawa's climate; 9 months of winter followed by 3 months of bad weather.

Going to work for a midnight to morning shift was an adventure when walking in snowfall, to keep sight of the lights to your building.
