i've done this trick several times and each time the spectators card is one number under. let's say my cards added up to 9 their card will be in the 8th position. or my cards add up to 21 there card is in the 20th position. every time i do the trick.

this is easy..u take 9 cards and when they choose the card u place it on the top of the other 8 cards so..when u put it on the deck it's in th 9th pace (from the bottom to the top) so if there is at least one much it works.. u just count the cards u throw down and then u just count the cards that u need till u reach the ninth! but if there is no much it doesn't work! cause u throw down 4x11=44 but the cards are 52..52-44=8 so u throw it down..so it would be better if u take 8 cards at the start!

It's automatic cause he's going from 10 to 1. If he gets a match in the first pack say at 9, he'll only have laid a few cards down but that won't matter because the 9 will impact on how many cards he flies by later on, and the face down card is just a zero. Well thought math trick!

Another cool thing I figured out is this: If you can also force the 14th, 30th, and 46th cards into place, those cards are the three remaining ones in the last face-up pile. One last note, Instead of transferring 4 cards to the bottom every time, just make the first pile a pile of 14 - the trick still works the same. Just give yourself 5 cards (act as if you are just grabbing an indescriminate amount) then count out three piles as you would a hand of cards until all cards are gone.

The cards are forced to the 6th, 22nd, and 38th positions (notice the increments of 16). The deception is really made when you have them put "any amount of cards" from one small deck on top of the other. Really, you are still just placing 15 random cards on top and then another of the cards they selected - thus creating the increment of 16.

its sooooo simple.....

you know the position of the card the card in the deck exactly (no shuffling)

its index is 9, or 52 - 10 = 44 (correct 1 for actual index).

so counting down 44 cards will get you to your card. easy.

and thats the same as counting 4x 11 cards. easy.

now, since you're counting DOWN along and looking for 'matches', the number that will face MUST be the remainder to eleven.

So subtract the sum of the faced up cards (which relate directly to their index)

The matches dont matter at all.

If you get a match for 8, thats 3 cards from 52 = 49 left. Then later when you add the piles up that 8 will be taken from the deck. That means no matter what the match is, each pile takes 11 cards off. (If you don't get a match, 10 cards plus the cap is still 11)

Now once you have all the cards in the piles AND subtracted them it should always be equal to the 4 piles x 11 cards = 44. 44 cards down the deck will be the 9th card which you are looking for.

It's obvious when you think about it. It will always be the 45th card in the deck. So if you have to "cap" every pile, or if u get a ten (the first card that would match) every time you will still flip over 44 cards in both of these situations, and in every other one. That's why this trick works; for those who don't get it.

@Redasflame you can! i have my spectator pick any card, and then i put it back into the deck and force it on top (using one of mismags tutorials) then i fake shuffle, then take off the first 9 cards and put then to the bottom then perform the trick!

explained:

the target is always the 44th card

the piles you make while counting down will always make you go 11 cards deeper into the deck

say if you get a king and stop on ten then that 11 cards into the deck (including the king you removed) and if no card is matched then the cap is put there to make up for the 11th card

then the numbers you add together will make the difference in cards that you didn't place on the piles because they match the amount of cards you had left to place to get to 11
