  • I know that this has been said already, but the 155 sings for itself.

  • Is the 175mm being used anywhere in Marine or Army today?

  • do artillery shells have like shotgun shot with multiple rounds in one? please answer

  • @XWHITEoKNIGHTX19 Um, sort of. You have RAAMS and ADAMS or some shit, I cant remember the acronym. They lay mines. Or you can do a killer junior - you put a time fuze on an HE and have it blow up while it is still in the air.

  • Hm. If it comes to a situation where you need to fire direct with your arty gun youre screwed anyway.

Dunno if i would like to piss of the guys i have to surrender to very soon any more than necessary ;)

  • @Charlemagne0815 Marines dont surrender

  • YAY! Reservists! hehehehe

  • this is at 29 stumps aint it.

  • @ndrct

Sure is the stumps, imaginary mountain in the background

  • Kinda fucked if you ever have to use direct fire, huh? Kinda like "fix bayonets"

  • @Stuckinthemuck1 Actually-no. There is a name for direct and Ithink area targets. These mainly have to do with distance and kill ratios. In direct fire-you can hit whatever in a very precise manner-area wouldbe they were to far away but sometimes you can walk it in and other times you will not. Not knowing enough about arty-I think maybe 20-25 miles for direct fire. everyb weapon system has different direct fire distances.

  • Personally, I would prefer to hear the Chief of Piece calling off the commands and the sound of the crew and gun. When you have something this dramatic, why clutter it up with music?

  • What unit?

  • @Devildogbaran 5/14

  • Reserve?

  • @jeffnielsen November 5/14?

  • I'll be goin into the Marines as MOS 0811, in june, and this shit is intense!!!

  • yeah who´s the artist??

  • What is the name of the song and who is the artist?

  • wait till you boys get to do that shit for real bro...shit is way more moto...taliban shits a brick the size of a buik when they realize thos big guns can point right at um and letterrip.

  • I don't understand what's wrong with the song? It's badass lol and I still would like to know what it's called... :)

  • I love boresight footage, USMC

  • yee haa rednecks, M777 built in Barrow in Furness by BAE in the UK

    Shit song too

  • thank you for taking care of those pesky taliban

  • I did one direct fire on my last field op before I went to guard duty and seperated. its actually quite fun

  • I'm with 3/11 M Btry, we just did direct fire a month or two ago...my gun hit the target on the first shot, and repeated to do so several more times

  • I WORKED WITH THE M110 8" THERE WAS DIRCT FIRE IWAS A 0844/46. IT WOULD BE NICE TO HEAR THAT CRUMP EVEN WITH THESE ARTILLARY EARS REAL GUNS DON'T GO BANG. 8" 8" BIGGEST GUN WHEN WE SHOOT WE SHOOT FOR FUN 8" 8"BIGGEST ROUND WHEN WE SHOOT WE SHAKE THE GROUND 1ST 8"PLT MIKE3/12 USMC

  • 29 Palms baby! Hell yes!

  • song sounds good, whats it called? mf badass? lol, guns are badass, we fire old 75 mils in the NIB (norwich independent battery) i was just searchin for some bigger guns to look at, shit gives us a hard on. ur vids not bad, let me know about that song.

  • I wonder if you can turn that arty on a tank coming towards you ? wont that be fun ?

  • I love to direct Fire,, did it a few times During Desert Storm.. I was with Alpha 1 /11

  • Id love to spot for you guys

hell id spot for mortars just to feel the detonation on my face again

  • @SS13E3 WERE YOU A FO

  • @cooper6ppc

grunt that was allowed to spot yes...

    FO...not really

  • man i like this song, whats it called? by the way pretty cool video!

  • ima be at fort sills learning how to use this shit :]

ship out date july 20th sounds like fun

  • @kathyf123 How dare you call that music, lol.

  • semper fi, And by the way you want life expierance join the Marines you want to be a powder puff do something else!

Oh Brother, words of wisdom from low GT score Conon Fodder, HOOOOOOOOOOOAH!

  • In 1969 we fired our 8" SP at High Angle with Firecracker rounds to hit sappers that broke through our perimeter at FB Oasis. We fired 6 rounds in 7 minutes...air burst that kicked out a bunch of g renade sized bomblets that popped up chest high and shredded the rubber ground cover at the chopper pad. It also shredded 8 sappers...FUBAR. We shot all 6 rounds before the first one hit the ground. The 8" is long gone now. You guys have got some fandamntastic howitzers and rocket arty.

    Ooorah.

  • direct fire from a155 mm must be a real bitch on a tank. In the 6 day war a battery of Israeli AMX105's opened up on a stray Egyptian T-55 that got caught behind their lines. It was not pretty from what I hear; and that was just 105 's.

  • @nomadnametab Yes it really messes stuff up I was with A 1/11 and we direct fired on tanks and truck and bmps during Desert Storm.

  • Thanks.

I'd hate to have a 105mm pointing at me!

I guess they'd have a machine gunner for infantry that gets to close as well. Makes a lot of sense.

  • @Paulwander Yes, before i retired the battery had four 7.63 MMG & four 12.7mm M2 HMG in its equipment. We set the MMG to cover the rear. The HMG were for anitaircraft defense, helocopter gunships I supose.

In Desert Storm 1991 at least one Marine battery direct fired their howitzers on a battalion of lost iraqi tanks that wandered into sight.

  • What is the purpose of direct fire?

  • Direct fire is to kill things that get too close to the battery. If Arty is in direct fire usually something else didn't work rigth - google "beehive round" made for 105 mm. There's a way to shoot DPICM similarly but never heard of anyone doing.

  • thats fuckin sick, want wait till we get M777's, theyre amazing guns

  • 2003 i was apart of a direct fire mission that turned mud hutts into ant hills> semper fi, And by the way you want life expierance join the Marines you want to be a powder puff do something else!

  • do you ever get to do patrols and other stuff like that

  • We rather hear the M-777

  • 0811

  • mmm, those old eap guns are shooting pretty well.

  • Music? You can't call that music. You'd better let the original sound 'cause it's better music the sounds of firing artillery than those ugly groans of a dopped-up band.

  • Yeah, if you want to be a tank commander, you don't have to be an officer. Officers are usually in charge of platoons at the lowest level,. Most tank commanders (Or commanders of any single vehicle for that matter) Are NCO's, so you'll have to spend time gaining rank before you get a tank crew. Go infantry. If you're going to acquire skills of no use to the regular world, at least get in great shape as a result. Or be an X-Ray tech, I know that skill set is very profitable in the regular world.

  • Really cool. Hey, I'm currently 14, but I know I want to go into the Marines after High School so that I might get a little help for college. I know I want (but what I get is another thing entirely) to either go into being a tank driver (or gunner, or maybe commander if I go into NROTC) or something to do with artillery. Are there any Marine veterans or just people with opinions here that could help? Pros and cons? Please help (then again, I've got 4 years).

  • @KittyRokher I want to do the same stuff but what I have heard about the Marines is that you arent guaranteed your mos, but you are guaranteed your element(ground, air or logistics). You get your mos based on the needs of the corps. In the US Army u pretty much are guaranteed your mos, as long as youqualify for some secret clearances. Im a freshmen and doing NJROTC even though it kinda sux you should do it if your school has it because if you join as enlisted you can be an E3 instead of an E1

  • NROTC Marine Option Qualifies you to attend OCS/TBS and earn O1

  • @KittyRokher but being a marine would mean more to me than just getting my specific mos

  • yeah, I plan on joining the NROTC

  • Yeah, ive got some advice. Half those guys in the video tried for tanker and ended up as arty. Not because they didnt have the scores, just because more people want to join as tankers than the Corps has open spaces for. So they got stuck shooting 155. If you like the sound of tanks and arty, well then hell, shoot for tanks and maybe youll get it. And if you dont, chances are youll be shooting arty.

p.s. shooting arty isnt the worst thing in the world. I certainly enjoy it.

  • holy damn music and vid go together there bad ass clip to!!!!!!!! =}

  • What fuck you crack heads talking about, the music fits the visual mayhem. I guess tokio hotel would satisfy your scared optimism.

  • good video very very crap music common man

  • i agree: video, awesome. music, crap. i wanna hear that gun shooting 7 white, not some crackhead hacking up a lung.

  • how about pantera - cowboys from hell

  • Great video, horrible noise that passes as music. Simply horrible. Drop the noise and let us hear the 155 do its thing.

  • it aint music its called scream ur ass off and let out some steam

  • fuck yeah, well be gettin M777's soon!! cant wait!

  • new noise: refused... better song

  • i love it! we got a similar piece in Aus but i haven't seen it used in direct fire role before, mad video.

  • worst music on a video ever, please kill yourself

  • Man, how in the world do you prepare for noise of that volume??? That cannon had some wicked concussion! I would want to do that job but, man, how would you get used to that loudness???

  • its not a cannon its a gun cannons are smooth bore guns arnt

  • This is what i want to do in the marines does anyone no what field is considered under?

  • 11c Artillery. Its in the title.

  • no, 11C is mortar men, 13B is artillery. and these are the army mos's anyway.

  • ......artillery

  • artillary its 08xx im doing the same thing=]

  • really? haha dude i need help on the asvab english part. i suck

  • nasty reservists

  • music kills the whole video... you suck at making vids.

  • he said there shooting at a old tank were do you get school

  • Obviously not the fine educational establishment where you were taught it was "there" and not "their" and "were" instead of "where".

  • new AT gun? lol

  • Jesus Christ, can't you jar-head fags pick a different song to put on your videos? I been in in the corps for more than 7 years now and that song has been out since I before was a private back in '02. Now I'm a sergeant and after 2 tours in iraq and 1 in afghanistan, I still hear that same old shit.

  • true this music is annoying

  • Seeing how these are jar heads, it'd be more fitting for them to tack on George Micheal's "Don't let the sun go down on me" to that video... LOL!

  • Damn! You really hate Marines don't you? What happened, a Marine took your wife and gave her back after the whole squad ran through her? How about a nice tall glass of HATORADE!

  • Whatever dude! It is called freedom of choice!...you don't like it them don't listen to it!

  • Would have been better without the music, let's hear the real deal.

  • Most, over-used, song, ever.

Good vid after the audio was muted though.

  • "SOMEBODY IS GET SEIOUSLY FUCKED UP THERE"

Yeah maybe little kids :( fucking hate war.

  • like a now famous marine once said. "peace sucks a hairy asshole my friend, war..is the motherfucking answer"

  • just chose this mos today for the USMC. Cant wait

  • wow this my son's MOS - just grad bc on 10 day leave.

  • Direct fire is an awesome concept for artillery, I prefer the Brit 105's to the US artillery piece, but it rocks all the same

  • Hahaha u guys wanna be 0811... Alright. Come and get some. Have fun too. You won't be thinking the same thing when you get here. 1st rule of marine warfar- dont bring artillery unless you want to kill everyone. 2/11 F

  • GET SOME!!

  • got to see u gents when ya came to ft hood

  • Holy Crap ur Dumb the Home of Field Artillery is ft. Sill Oklahoma Im here right now Bravo Deck room 140 MCCCC 7-09 0811 the Kings of Battle

  • um.....5/14 battery's came to traing with the support battalions during our AT at fort hood, no need to be rude buddy....

  • sweet nice b=gun it shoots greeat

  • I am lat moving to artillery hopefully

  • Im an 0811 and this is always awesome stuff to see, but seriously devil, get a more original soundtrack. This song is used in every moto vid and its getting really old.

  • i did have another one, youtube turn the music off and told me it was copyrighted..they gave me a list of music i could play and i chose this one. i think youd rather hear this than jack johnson.

  • @jeffnielsen i like this song

  • depends what MOS you want...gun bunnies, the ones that fire th cannons don't have rally strict requirements....If you want to see the rounds blow up, like me, you shoud a forward observer, but the physical requirements are a lot tougher, because you go with the infantry, but you have to carry more stuff than them

  • i hope field artillery is an easy mos to get into! i'd die for that shit

my dick is hard too hah

  • whats the name of this song ?

  • Drowning Pool - Bodies

    from the album Sinner

  • tank never stood a chance :)

  • Its like the 25 Pounder of the Modern times! Dang Amazing!

  • im in ausssie artillery, hopefully gettin M777's soon tehyre fuckign awesome!

  • Good shit I'm at arty school right now I'm gonna be a 11

  • wats an 11?

  • artillerry sound please

  • which branch gets to use the cool gadgets and stuff is it the army or the marines?

  • the army definetly. The marines are expected to do more but with less.

  • do you want to kno why the army has more gadgets??

  • army has the moula

and the marines have to power

  • i would'nt listen to him cause the U.S Army gets better guns because they have thier asses stuck in government hands to get rich while the U.S Marines use older guns and we don't use the government much to get better weapons

  • Really I guess the the Army has newer M777's. Idiot we get the gear we need based on what we do! Why do we need more and more gear just to bogg us down?

  • Depends on who you ask! It's like when you were kids, you always wanted what the other kids had, even though you had the same thing! You just thought it was cooler because someone else had it.

  • Semper fi, Oscar.

  • As a former 0844, I love vids like this. Semper Fi!

  • Semper Fi FDC man!

    0844 here as well

    R 5/12 8 inch

    0844/62

    29 Palms MCAGCC

    1984-87

These vids make my dick hard. Sorry to be all gungy and whatnot but you cannot deny the awesomeness of field artillery.

  • You cant party without Arty. Nothing turns a girl on more than something that goes BOOM! Wait um I should speak for myself...guess it depends on the girl. I love the sound of artillery fire when Im on base.

  • I came to the fleet in 2004 and was the 1st unit to get them . I was also the 1st class at FT.SILL to train on them . 3/11 K battery . I was on the gun that fired the 1st round in the fleet ! pretty fuck'n cool =)

I'd rather have an M-198 though . The damn thing just won't brake . 777 brakes all the damn time .

  • is this a cool MOS for tthe marines?

  • Well we're known as the King of Battle. The infantry, which are the gunts, one of the toughest if not THE toughest MOS...then its probably Artillery...its no easy work..100lb rounds n all...lifting that, unloading it, and 50 others like it off the 7ton...all insane MOS's aside of course, i.e. recon.

  • I agree, I'm 5'11 and weighed 145 when I got to the fleet. But I when I was the ATC guy on my crew I gained about 40 pounds of muscles within 6 months. I think the heaviest round was dpicm which was ove 130 pounds, but correct me if i'm wrong.

  • no, i believe ur right. ya 0811 is a pretty tough job. I've all ready messed up my shoulders. they're so messed up man, i got 15 xrays 2 days ago on them. goin for a MRI 2m or the next day. hopefully i aint bad news. the Corps tough, but i would hate to get discharged so soon.

  • Get all that stuff documented on your medical record. Even the little shit cause when you get out you can collect some disability. I got lucky and never got hurt just bruised and banged up. I'm out the corps now and I miss the sweet smell of ether! lol

  • Awesome scene though I can't imagine it happening on a conventional battlefield with a modern foe with rapid counterbattery capability who can shoot back with heavy stuff. What is the sighting arrangement for that kind of super-close work, or do you have to open the breech and look down the tube (LOL!).

  • The gunner has a telescopic sight for DF. We trained at it, but regarded it as a emergency measure. In Desert Storm 1991 one of our batterys DF on some Iraqi tanks that got a tad too close.

  • Its the best damn job in the USMC... Its tough, and it has downsides, but the adrenaline rush one gets when that howitzer goes off is unparallel to anything else... I can honestly say that I love my job when we are firing the weapon... it'll make you one big motherfucker too... I'm about 5'8" and 185 lbs... mainly muscle because of hauling those projectiles around, its a very physical job but I love it

  • Nice vid i just deped in im leaving for boot in july im assigned to oscar battery. which battery is this

  • this is oscar battery, we have a guns platoon and a headquarters platoon. We also have a headquarters battery at our unit. If ur a 0811, u'll be in guns, if ur arty support like com or fdc u'll be in headquarters platoon. lol, july 2009 huh? i was deped in for 7 months b4 i went to boot. graduated honor platoon aug10 2007. LOL, if we go to afghanistan or iraq like we are scheduled to, you'll be joining our unit right b4 we ship out, tht sux for you. neways, good luck man, boots def not easy.

  • boot..

  • Mean looking gun :)Nothing beats the spectacle of firing a 155mm howitzer listening to the sound of the shell going downrange and then several seconds later the bang of the shell and the earth shaking from the force of the detonation :P Its been 16 years since I fired a M109A3 last but I will never forget it. Man I envy the gunners in this video :)

Nice video - keep 'em comming :D

P.S. Nice hit near the end of the video

  • wth is a trip 7 and a niner 8?

  • a M777 is a Howitzer, a real big cannon. it shoots 100lbs. rounds, or "bullets". it can shoot up to 18 miles, if need be, and causes massive amounts of damage. Its the job we have in the Marine Corps that we use these is Artillery. the M777, or the trip7 as people call it in here is the newer version of the M198. its bout 9000lbs as apposed to about 18000 w the M198. more mobile. we got gps and other kool thngs. hope that helped. ask me nemore q's if u got them...sum1 plz correct if im wrong.

  • whoa thats freaken cool. also realy nice how u guys direct those shells rite on target. sadly our dutch army isnt using these things anymore, but the new pzh2000 pantserhouwitsers. i do wonder how those shells can always drop right on target?

  • its not a newer version its a whole new gun

  • ya sorry ur def right. its not just upgrades, its a whole new gun that is better in every way i can think of compared to the M198

  • yea, the thing can find itself in the field and the barrel is titanium i believe. plus some interesting techy features.

  • I recall reading somewhere that it was in the Civil War that indirect artillery fire was used for the first time. Though it still seems unworkable decades before the first hydraulic, hydro-pneumatic recoil systems came out around WWI. How could you do it after all, if the cannons had to be rolled back into position and resighted after each shot?

  • Indirect fire goes back to the 16th Century when heavy mortars or other short barreled cannon lobbed cannon balls and bursting charges over fortress walls. And no, it did not work very well until modern gear appeared at the end of the 19th Century

  • Oorah! What battery is this? I'm 5/14 November

  • Oscar battery. So when you guys leavin? Jan. right?

  • sure nielson you were real smooth in At, its not like we put words or should I say things in your mouth.

    CPL

  • its NielsEn* cpl....n i kno i saw the pictures on Davilas camera..woops..all i gotta say is that you gotta be half way homo to do that shit, n get pleasure out of that shit too. w/e, everyone the bitch as some point and time.

  • hahah what up nielson! its montross, how random is that that im looking at videos and ur commenting on them....and yea fuck quebec hahah nasty disgusting things!!

  • lol, thats because its my video, i made this video. haha, ya, fuckin Q is damn nasty. they need to shoot more often than once every 5 yrs.

    -Nielsen

  • 5/14.. heard those guys rolled a trip 7 with in the last week... nasty reservist! I say that with love.. I am in H battery 3/14

  • damn that shit moves fast. ya but that was quebec, out of Colorado. Us, Oscar, out of Seal Beach, were smooth.

  • Must have been a niner 8 they rolled, or was someone fooloish enough to let them play with a triple seven prior to having gone through the NET?

  • ya, it was a 9er8 they rolled, along with an ammo truck, and i think another battery might have rolled something as well, but not us...figgen shitbags.

  • Hell yeah, Direct fire!

  • Looks like the stumps.

    OORAH 5/14!
