Awesome video! Back in my younger days, in my home state of Kentucky, we had two roller rinks in Cynthiana. "The Roller Rink" beside the road that curves down and away from the high school, and "Charlie's Roller Rink" off of 1842 (I think). Those were the glory days, for sure, nowadays folks wonder why kids seem so depressed living in front of their XBox's. :(
That is really neat. I bought all of the Rinx Records from them they are stamped with the Majestic Arnold's Park IA.Rinx records were organ records played by Fred Bergin, Lee White, and Jimmy Caro. I know that Fred is now deceased Jimmy is as well. Not really sure about Lee but I imagine she would be way up there if still alive.
Dave is truly sad they are close ours closed about 12 years ago and they wonder why the kids roam the streets I lived there 4 nights a week for 20 years now its an art gallery for the upper class. art in my house is walmart HaHa they take these places and close them and leave the kids no where else togo [SAD IN PA.]
skating is lots of fun, I used to skate but mostly ice skate (on ice rinks and on lakes, outdoor is so much fun and lots of space) and enjoyed that too. Thx for sharing Dave.
i remember the old skating ring in the town where i grew up, it used to be the place to be for young people far and wide, especially at the weekends. i was rubbish at skating but that used to work to my advantage as pretty girls always used to hold my hand as i went around and found my legs.
@RcUniverseGuy I don't think it was rock she was complaining about, as that is skateable music. It is music that has no real beat, that is hard to skate to for dance skaters, like us old farts. We used to go to Night clubs are for heavy music, you know, not the rinks.LOL.
What a great video! You are the man and have lead a very cool life and not only that it seems as though you appreciated the times you have had while your having them and documenting them! Not many can say that. Always good stuff!
This reminds me of the good ol' days. I remember when my friends and I would do these kinds of things, now everything's changed. Thanks for uploading, Dave.

That song by bob dylan The times they are a changing springs to mind.
Never the less I can't help but think we should resurrect these old places and bring back a long lost sense of community spirit.

When did this place close? Judging by the tables and the fans, I'd say recently.
