I think for someone like you. You did the right thing. But you know. Next time take into consideration that the oil companies each made over 14 BILLION in profit in the FIRST QUARTER YEAR. Realistically. I think gas should be 60 cents a gallon. The oil companies are just a bunch of people that are greedy and dont know how to make an honest living. It's hard to earn money nowadays. And I hate to see it go into my tank. I'd much rather have food in my stomach.
i think you did the right thing to one day i went to the bank and the teller i guess was new so she gave me more money then she was supposed to have so i felt bad and so the next day i went back and gave the money to her she was so happy because she was going to be fired if she could not get the money back and it made me feel like a good honest person
I remembered that the gas station I used to work at, the prices were controlled by a district office. So we didn't changed them. So if that is the case, the people in that actual store probably would get minimal trouble for it. As they simply did not notice an error made by someone else.
I would have loaded up my truck on gas. These big corporations butt fuck us every way they can. Yes I know the managers and store clerks can get into trouble. However, typically businesses have a universal requirement of giving out warnings. Possibly yeah this might be a bad enough case for grounds for immediate termination...But really they already fucked up. So whether you tell them or not chances are they will get in a lot of trouble either way.Take ur chance to steal back from the big corp.
you did the right thing but how the economy is doing you fucked up.... just remember those who make millions is only paying 1% higher than the regular class that struggles to put food on there table.....Next time just mind your own business
Stupid ass. you should have minded your fucking business... You werent getting gas maybe that was all she had and she needed. They should have mob beT you
i don't see how any of this is stealing, this was just one hell of a discount. A discount not even something to feel guilty of since it was somebody else's fault.
The only person on the line is the person who programmed the gas price into the pumps. The person who did that will get fired. Everybody else to take advantage of the deal just got an awesome temporary score in life. Good to let the gas station staff know about it, but i'd have still filled up first and not feel guilty.
I read in Gods Word that what a man stea/s, brings him troub/e. Twice /ast week, c/erks tried to hand me too much change, both times I pointed it out.
Since Gasoline is 4.00 a gallon is pretty much the standard price for gasoline I think the gas companies were stealing from us first. So screw'em consumers desearve a break
Having worked at gas stations, I'm 99% sure that the clerks would have been blamed and fired. They may not have been responsible for the error itself, but they would be held responsible for not noticing it, as unreasonable as that seems. As a gas station clerk, at least at the ones I've worked at, if you have a drive off for example, you can end up paying for that out of your paycheck, unless it's a first time occurrence. They expect you to keep a pretty close eye on EVERYTHING. It can be crazy.
you know you did the right thing. i think i would have done the same. here's another point that's not clear to people who justify putting one over on the big corporation - everyone pays for the theft with higher prices meant to recover profit loss. i'm struggling financially right now, and also wouldn't wish the low-wage earning station attendants to lose their jobs & not be able to feed their families...
jezuzfreek, a smoking pipe isnt drug paraphanelia, and even if it was, who the fuck cares. im sure you drink, thats a drug. and ida hit that gas station up, payback for robbing us.
I just started watching your videos, and while I don't agree with your apologetics, I fully support what you did here. Atheist, Christian, Buddhist, Muslim...doing what's right is hard sometimes, and even if I don't agree with someone's philosophy, I respect people who do what they think is right and stick to it.
that happened to me but in wierd way ... DETAILS: I was going to nuy a baseball bat onece and a sign said "40.99 Special",and that was at my 45.00 dollar mark, so I took the bat to the counter and I asked about the special and the cashier was surprised. After a discussion she decided to give me discount becuse she felt sad for me, than people ran with loads of bats because of what happened to me. But the thing was that our guilt got the employees to fix the sign. We all left that day as winners.
Ill stick up for this guy, big oil companys are not going to be effected by this, only the store (i mean ffs you should know that) and this isn't a supermarket ether
Haaa that's funny. This happened in my town 2 years ago. I got a full tank of gas for like $5. If you consider that stealing, you should consider the position of the oil companies and how OPEC has the world screwed over.
In this instance I totally agree with you and you did the right thing. I disagree with you about religion but stealing is wrong the consequences for someone could be catastrophic
never seen a MARATHON gas station...What drug paraphernalia? I would have told them right away. Look up LIE in Wikipedia , it what they where doing is a type of LIE...the holy wikipedia, just kidding....
I would have done the same thing as you JF, yet I don't believe in God. I don't need an authority figure who is constantly watching over me to do the right thing. This harkens back to my integrity video I made a while ago. I don't believe ther is anyone watching over me, I would just do the right thing because it is the right thing.
Do unto others as you would have them do to you. And however you measure out to others is how God will measure it back to you.
I would have told the clerk as you did, but I might have been tempted to stick around a "fight" with those who would raise an issue with me. However, that would be a wrong attitude on my part, and I know God would not be pleased, but it would be a temptation.
And I could care less if there were 50 people in the store, I would have told the clerk loud and proud.
you do realize the companies that you'd be "stealing" (it's not really stealing) have craploads of money and pretty much OWN you? don't be a sheep, cmon!
well im a christian and i got to say your video really made me think because just so happen today I was in the store and I seen some one walk out of the store with out paying for the items under the cart with fore or five children I really dident know if I should have said someting or not I know people are struggleing right now but I know its not right I realize now that Ishould have said something
@ThaShitTalka Well, If your going to say that, viewing the way you type, your a young black ignorant dumb ass who listens to rap music and is in a gang, enjoy's fights, and thinks that people like me are " lame ass nigguhs?" Correct me if im wrong?
@megarne Or maybe not crash but yells profanity at people as he drives by, gets angry at what they do then driving by some other group, same, next group, ends up hysterical, yelling at them and saying dont use @#$% profanity at me, you @#$%; then goes calm and says how being a Christian is so nice
in most (if not all ) your videos u tend to be so focused on peoples behaviour and criticising them for things they do wrong (stealing/smoking pot etc) but i never see you preaching the gospel to people. OF course people do the wrong thing , the Bible says before we are born again that we are dead in sin... telling people to do the right thing isnt going to change anyones life, they need the gospel (which we are commanded to preach to every creature).
Yeah, but we are to be salt and light in the earth. There needs to be a voice for truth and for what is right and wrong. Yes, we are called to preach the gospel, but also to be the salt of the earth!
@Webbbear3 youre wrong. who insults your uncle? the same imbeciles who protest at military funerals? Westboro "baptist" church? nothing Christian about them. I also have an uncle who was or is totally gay, some in the family are okay with it, others are not. I don't like hearing neophytes speaking "for God" when it contradicts the bible.
Christ is real, obviously youve got problems with sinful humans out there who did something. you wrote gya, did you mean to write GAY? say it.
I love when people without any knowledge of economics bash on big corporations. Without big corporations your laptop, gasoline, shoes, etc.,etc.,etc would cost you exponentially more money. Thanks to large corporations we can purchase items which have been mass produced at a cheaper cost per item than smaller companies.
the real losers here are other gasoline customers. you have to think about this from an economic standpoint. sure, the people that got the cheap gas got a good deal and basically "won" but then who is the loser? some might think it is the gasoline/oil company, but this is not the case. sure, they took a short term loss on the gasoline that was sold at the incorrect price that day, but to offset that they will simply raise the cost of gas for everyone else nationwide by $0.01
You did good, but I would have stayed and video taped everyone trying to take advantage of the situation and shamed all those thieves to their faces. I am an atheist, by the way.
The good thing is that if the crowd had attacked you, you could have shot them with your concealed weapon. It pays to carry a gun when you are a Christian.
I work in contracting. Sometimes a draftsman or a subcontractor will come in with a rediculously low bid because some of the scope was missing from their contract. I ALWAYS tell them to reconsider and go over the scope with a fine tooth comb. I think Christianity is also about preserving what is right and is not all about going to fantasy land after life. People don't know how much work goes into providing fuel conveniently dispensed at a station. Ignorance is no excuse for immorality. Good vid!
Oil companies get massive subsidies and make obscene profits. this last year many of them ended up paying 0% taxes due to the gigantic subsidies they received from taxpayer money. and now what are they doing? jacking up gas prices to record levels for no reason. you really think it is immoral to steal from the corrupt to benefit the meek? not to mention this is not stealing by any stretch of the imagination, these people were buying gasoline at the listed price.
When Jesus turned water into wine it caused whoever wanting wine to get free wine and didn't have to buy any wine. And because they didn't have to buy any wine , the wine industry was robbed of a profit by a prophet. Lol
Perhaps I would have thought the 41 cent per gallon price was like things I've seen before, like a promotional/publicity stunt, perhaps hosted by a radio station and gone and filled up.. Perhaps I wouldnt have noticed until I looked at my Debit card weekly summary. I have to think, if I put the wrong price on a product on the shelf and ask people to buy it, and film them buying it, do I have a solid case for theft?
Well... I've worked in the bank and from my personal experience I never would do something like this as an atheist. I've learned that mistakes get payed from my own pocket and that means if I would fill my car with that gas i would have to live knowing that the people working there would have to pay the difference. And I just can't live with that feeling... atheist or not :)
How were they stealing? The gas station, even if accidentally, set the price to 41 cents a gallon, and people were paying for that price. I agree that you went inside to tell them, but not for the same reasons you thought it was the right choice.
If all religious people were like you Anthony, I would have much less of a problem with religion. Exactly like you said at 3:22 that error was about some low level employee who might have been fired, not about the ethics of big oil.
But to answer your question.... no, I wouldn't have told them, I would have filled my tank, called my friends, and gotten the hell out of there. I hate paying $70 for a tank of gas.
Good job brother, you did the right thing! As much as we're struggling financially through crisis like this, we shouldn't fall under temptation to STEAL! Whether Christian or not!
While I think you did the right thing and I would have told them too, I wouldn't say that these people were "stealing". The were taking advantage of the company for sure but it was the companies error. With the current economy and petrol prices, I dont blame people for taking advantage. I gotta say though, you got some balls man, I would have informed them by phone.
The 41c gas is the SAME EXACT thing as the oil companies do to get more money from consumers, they blame "the system" then laugh all the way to the bank. Now we see the inverse, a system causes the price to be low and consumers take advantage. Same principle, no?
In congress, the oil exec's were asked: "how much per barrel do you need to break even?" OUCH! This is the LAST question they want to hear. only the Shell exec answered.
I'm an atheist and I would have told the clerk as well. I could not in good conscience take advantage of a business like that, nor could I ignore my moral duty to make the purveyors aware of it. I seriously doubt that there is any correlation between atheists/christians and what people would have done in that situation.
The Pot sucks video wasn't cool , but I am a libertarian and I feel that no one owns our bodies but ourselves , and it is no ones business but mine if I want to smoke pot or legal herbal inscense , this however I applaud you for , that is stealing and many people in your situation would of not done that .
are you kidding me? gas is 41 CENTS and you wont "take part in stealing"?? with gas being over 4.00$ , theres a mistake to wear its only 41 CENTS, and you wont buy it?! and not only that you SNITCH? ur gay.im convinced. you kiss men.
I think it was the right thing to do. I may not have done the same thing myself, but it was obviously a mistake by the gas station, and the right thing to do was to tell them. Kinda wonder why they didn't notice something was wrong with all those cars outside.
But one thing I don't understand is. Wouldn't the clerks would have notice tons of cars filling up on one pump. How long you think the mistake was there for?
I guess to my shame I would have been pumping the gas and not have said a word with the other guys. It is really a eye opener, stealing is stealing even when it is a mistake.
ha no part in stealing the oil companies are stealing from you in the first place. they have oil refineries working at 25% capacity just to lower supply and increase prices. They have our testicales in a deathgrip and they know it and you better believe they will find any excuse to exploit us for every cent we are worth
I would have felt the low price was a blessing. I would have praised God for giving me the first chance in months to fill my gas tank. However, I would have also told the owners. So there ya go, I'd tell, but I'd also take the blessing.
Here's why I wouldn't have said anything. I don't care about the gas companies. I don't believe in god or sin or hell, so I wouldn't feel guilty about it. If a person was being ripped off, I'd help them. But corporations I don't feel sorry for, because they are raking in the dough, and it won't affect them very much.
@feedtherich I'm an atheist and i'd have felt guilt for stealing the gas. Why not you? I don't need hell to make me feel bad about doing wrong. Besides, the "gas company" wouldn't have been ripped off. The private owner of that gas station, probably a guy that lives there in town, was being ripped off. No different than if you walked in his open front door, and walked out with some of his stuff.
@216trixie I wouldn't steal myself, I just wouldn't tattle tale, unless I actually believed what you suggest that the owner is an average joe just scraping by. But I don't believe that. I imagine he's a millionaire with multiple gas stations, so I don't care.
You do know that gas station owners buy the gas in advance and then raise or lower prices in accordance with the price of oil that day, right? So you're not hurting a major corporation, you're hurting a homegrown owner of a gas station.
I commend you for doing the right thing. This could have easily cost these people their jobs. I am sad & appalled that so many are angry about what you did. This is the problem with America, everyone has lost their sense of right & wrong and that is why we are morally & financially bankrupt. God bless!
I would have filled my tank and moved on. 70-80 cents of every dollar goes to the investors that jacked these prices up on pure speculation. THAT is stealing for OUR pockets.
You did the right thing. Yes, I'd have done exactly the same... If I drove a car. It's pretty disgusting that nobody reported it before you but I guess you guys are fairly volatile [pun] when it comes to fuel, and easily whipped into hysteria. I wont bore you with the "try buying petrol in Europe", you've heard it all already. Those people will be on cctv and should receive letters asking for payment. But there's always some kind of "right to pay display price" BS law. They all acted like kids!
20 years ago when I was poorer than I am now I would probably taken advantage of the situation, at my age now,and knowing how things work, I would not take advantage
You are right that the clerks may loose their jobs over this simple mistake and I would want nothing to do with that
The frenzy to save $50... In all those Big,Expensive cars......Sad
I'm not sure if it's technecally stealing as you are still paying for it, it's not as if they were accidentaly giving away free petrol. I do think that you did the right thing but it might have been best if you took the clerks to one side and told them rather than at the till.
Be careful though. The Bible speaks on giving pearls to swine. We are peculiar to ppl in our actions. I pray you are continuously cover by God's protection, in Jesus' name!
You were absolutly right in your actions, bro! But God knows my heart & I'm not gonna lie. I don't think I could've done it so I applaud your actions. That was brave & honorable. I agree with the lady who said, we're being ripped off at the pumps but 2 wrongs don't make a right. God said, vengence is His. They will get their's.
I agree with JF. The honest thing to do is tell the clerk, not to take advantage of the mistake. Put yourself in the merchant's place--would you want the customer to just fill up and leave, or would you want him to tell you about the typo in the entered gas price? JF was 100% right to give the clerk a heads-up.
JF was right in another way, too--the profit margin on gas is razor thin, that's why it fluctuates even from day to day. That station lost a LOT of money that day.
Depends on what the price of the other 2 blends was. 20 or so years ago, when gas prices were equivalently high, gas prices took a sudden drop. During the drop, some stations did run discounts of 90%, and several even more than that. So if all 3 grades were low I probably would have assumed it was a promotion and bought the gas. If it was just midgrade at the low price, I probably would have bought regular (since my car doesn't need midgrade anyway) and given them a heads up while I fueled up.
As someone who tends to always disagree with you, I think you absolutely did the right thing, and it took courage to do so. Regardless of whether people were still paying for their petrol, as drivers, they obviously knew that 41c p/g was a mistake. It was exploitative.
You did the right thing Jack. Yes...I would have the same thing. The response of those people to your act of honesty and kindness is a sorry testament to the evil and depraved condition of our country. The bottom line is they need to repent of their evil. There is healing and forgiveness in repentence.
I happen to agree with you surprisingly. Some people here are bitching about the corporations. Corporations, especially big oil are taking advantage of us in many ways. That does not give us the excuse to act like them. Furthermore, this is clearly an accident, that could cost someone their job, or a few people their jobs. All so you can get one over on big oil, 1 measly tank of gas. Don't like the price of gas? Get a bike. Stealing from others is wrong. And no i don't need a god to know that.
You have a very strong desire to get involved in situations that only affect you indirectly. Are this and the drug paraphernalia instances caused by a desire to be the moral guardian of society? or Are they caused because you are trying to make up for a wrong you did earlier in life?
I wish you would have caught the employees expression when you told them they were selling gas for 41 cents on tape, that had to be somewhat funny..Im supprised they did'nt know..and wonder why people were pileing up..you did the right thing..
I think most of the money for gas goes to taxes, you should have asked the liberals there why they were takeing money from their perfect communist state..
oh...and according to the gas station I go to, the actual station itself, only gets a 7 cent profit for each gallon of gas to keep. The rest of the profit goes to the gas company (BP in my instance).
This happened at one of our gas stations here too awhile back. What happened was, they got a new system installed... on the old system all they had to type in was 3.97.... on the new system they were supposed to type in the tax also..so they should have typed in 3.979.... So gas was sold for .39 a gallon. They figured it out in a 1/2 hour...but April almost lost her job because of it. :(
selinauno, as a side note, the tax is more than .009. The .009 is a marketing ploy, not a tax. Modern pumps don't automatically add it because not everyone uses it. For more fun, some of the old pumps with number wheels (before digital displays came out) don't have 3s (much less 4s) on the dollars digit, and can't display current prices. A new WD dispenser costs over $10K, so some sites just labeled over the number instead of getting new dispensers.
You did the right thing but there are some problems to this, people have the right to buy some thing at the advertised price, you didn't know if that price was wrong or not you assumed that it was because it seemed too good to be true right? So why do you believe in god? The law states that a reasonable person could make the judgment that the price was wrong in this case so why can't you use that ability to reason in other aspects of life? Also at 3:37 did you just try and punch me?
Where do the Oil corporations get the Oil to make the gas? Not from their earth but from Our earth but small stores buy from bigger corporations therefore No I would Not take advantage of It especially If They have fair prices. but also look at It this way what Is the difference between a $400.00 Washburn Guitar & a $4000.00 Gibson Guitar? $3600.00 Gibson deceive People to believe a good Guitar cost thousands of dollars.
@ortafunk 4000 dollar Gibson is hand crafted using higher quality materials. Is it $3600 better? No but it is better than a foreign made cheaper guitar.
@jezuzfreek777 Can you please explain why Americans have this xenophobic reaction to foreign made goods?
You'd think a country which values capitalism as highly as the US would appreciate that goods made at a cheaper price and sold in the free market is quite right to take business away from corporations that can't compete.
Secondly, it seems you are taking pride in that act. Why do you feel the need to tell everyone on youtube instead of keeping it between yourself and God?
@AtheismandSkepticism Why do foreigners consider national pride to be synonymous with xenophobia? However, having said that, the higher percentage of products that we have domestically, the more of our people are working, and equally as important is that we are not at the mercy of other nations, some hostile, for goods in the event that we need to be 100% self-sufficient. I know this is impossible for countries that are only as big as Minnesota, but since we can, we should.
As an atheist I would have done the same thing, probably like most other atheists, too. It's funny how the threat of eternal punishment in Hell is not enough to deter Christians from stealing gas, eh?
@MontrealAtheist See, that's the problem with you guys, you think Christians only "believe"in God because we were told about a fiery, hot place that we would be sent to if we didn't accept Christ. It's funny how you said that "most atheists"would do this, like you guys don't have any values or morals.
I am also an atheist, and I also would have pointed out the error. Not because I'm an atheist, but simply because I have ethics, respect, and empathy. Many christians do too. And some atheists would have stolen the gas. I'm all for attacking beliefs, but they really don't have much to do with a person's character and arguments like this can be counter-productive.
@MontrealAtheist if a person is a saved Christian then no amount of stealing could change that, once saved, always saved. the fear of hell applies to the unsaved person who rejects Christ.
you do not get your good deeds added up to see if you make it into heaven, that story is fictional. the bible says once youre saved then you go directly to heaven, a free pass. You couldnt lose salvation if you tried
Hi JF. I think you took the honourable path. Perhaps the big petrol companies do take advantage of us, but returning dishonour with dishonour only reflects badly on us.
You were not obligated to say anything, or put yourself in possible harms way, by anythig other than your moral code. But either way, none of those people have any right to stop you from saying something, or valid cause for complaint that you did.
And this is an interesting contrast to my recent comment on Thunderfoot's channel. He argues that he has the legal right to take action against someone for hurting his feelings. But I argue that just because he can, doesn't mean that he should.
Also the additional factor that those people are causing harm to you and others indirectly, (not even including the employees).
Perhaps that gas station will increase its prices one cent next week to make up the shortfall. Not to get back at anyone, but simply because their prices are a reflection of how much it costs to run a gas station, and therefore losses necessarily equate to higher prices.
So you have your own self-interest to consider in not wanting to subsidise dishonest people.
Gas stations in general tend to take advantage of US on a REGULAR BASIS. That's not big business - that's the gas station owners hiking up the price disproportionately to what they bought it for. Personally, I would DEFINITELY have taken advantage of it. See, I'm getting to be pretty damn poor and having to drive 6 hours/week for chemotherapy is getting pretty expensive. If I could fill up my tank for $6 - instead of SIXTY - I WOULD! No regrets!
@MrZeus7 Google The Bob Beck Protocol Video also check out Food Grade 35% Hydrogen Peroxide and The One Minute cure book and Rife machine. You can get most of the stuff from EBay and Amazon and ToolsForHealing Sota Is one of the better brands.
@iReturnVide0tapes When you buy gas you tell the person at the counter how much cash you want to spend and they give that information to the computer inside the pump. They wouldn't really have a way to know how much gas people were getting.
While I think it's wrong to accuse those people of stealing as they were partaking in a legal transaction , you did exactly the right thing. The sad thing is that nobody did it before you. Personally I'd have just driven past.
Yes, you did the right thing JF. I would have done the same. People make mistakes - machines make mistakes. I suppose someone has to pay for that mistake - somewhere. But all in all - take it from a militant atheist like myself - you did the right thing.
if it was mislabeled and the people know it is mislabeled it's stealing. people who own a gas station don't make very much profit off of the gas. Shame on people for being so dishonest. People really really are pathetic.
@SisterSunshineTV ahh but be careful casting such insults at people. What about the rude, sinful things you do?
You may not realize the cost of fuel is ruining the US economy, putting people out of work and causing people to starve. Do you know what its like to be poor?
The US needs to drill for oil and produce more; The 41c gas brings attention to a SEVERE CRISIS! 2012 needs to see the GOP back in control to save MY nation, I do not blame folks who bot gas cheap
You stupid fuck. This isn't stealing. It's operator error.
Serves them right for selling a few smoke pipes? Oh fuck off and get a life.

As a gas station clerk, at least at the ones I've worked at, if you have a drive off for example, you can end up paying for that out of your paycheck, unless it's a first time occurrence. They expect you to keep a pretty close eye on EVERYTHING. It can be crazy.

you know you did the right thing. i think i would have done the same. here's another point that's not clear to people who justify putting one over on the big corporation - everyone pays for the theft with higher prices meant to recover profit loss. i'm struggling financially right now, and also wouldn't wish the low-wage earning station attendants to lose their jobs & not be able to feed their families...

that happened to me but in wierd way ...

And I could care less if there were 50 people in the store, I would have told the clerk loud and proud.

in most (if not all ) your videos u tend to be so focused on peoples behaviour and criticising them for things they do wrong (stealing/smoking pot etc) but i never see you preaching the gospel to people. OF course people do the wrong thing , the Bible says before we are born again that we are dead in sin... telling people to do the right thing isnt going to change anyones life, they need the gospel (which we are commanded to preach to every creature).

I love when people without any knowledge of economics bash on big corporations. Without big corporations your laptop, gasoline, shoes, etc.,etc.,etc would cost you exponentially more money. Thanks to large corporations we can purchase items which have been mass produced at a cheaper cost per item than smaller companies.

the real losers here are other gasoline customers. you have to think about this from an economic standpoint. sure, the people that got the cheap gas got a good deal and basically "won" but then who is the loser? some might think it is the gasoline/oil company, but this is not the case. sure, they took a short term loss on the gasoline that was sold at the incorrect price that day, but to offset that they will simply raise the cost of gas for everyone else nationwide by $0.01
.

Good vid!

Perhaps I wouldnt have noticed until I looked at my Debit card weekly summary. I have to think, if I put the wrong price on a product on the shelf and ask people to buy it, and film them buying it, do I have a solid case for theft?

The 41c gas is the SAME EXACT thing as the oil companies do to get more money from consumers, they blame "the system" then laugh all the way to the bank. Now we see the inverse, a system causes the price to be low and consumers take advantage. Same principle, no?

@feedtherich I'm an atheist and i'd have felt guilt for stealing the gas. Why not you? I don't need hell to make me feel bad about doing wrong. Besides, the "gas company" wouldn't have been ripped off. The private owner of that gas station, probably a guy that lives there in town, was being ripped off. No different than if you walked in his open front door, and walked out with some of his stuff.
216trixie 9 months ago
@216trixie I wouldn't steal myself, I just wouldn't tattle tale, unless I actually believed what you suggest that the owner is an average joe just scraping by. But I don't believe that. I imagine he's a millionaire with multiple gas stations, so I don't care.

That station lost a LOT of money that day.
roentgen571 9 months ago
Depends on what the price of the other 2 blends was. 20 or so years ago, when gas prices were equivalently high, gas prices took a sudden drop. During the drop, some stations did run discounts of 90%, and several even more than that. So if all 3 grades were low I probably would have assumed it was a promotion and bought the gas. If it was just midgrade at the low price, I probably would have bought regular (since my car doesn't need midgrade anyway) and given them a heads up while I fueled up.
JustAnotherMutant 9 months ago
As someone who tends to always disagree with you, I think you absolutely did the right thing, and it took courage to do so. Regardless of whether people were still paying for their petrol, as drivers, they obviously knew that 41c p/g was a mistake. It was exploitative.
DecmanReturns 9 months ago
You did the right thing Jack. Yes...I would have the same thing. And no i don't need a god to know that.

oh...and according to the gas station I go to, the actual station itself, only gets a 7 cent profit for each gallon of gas to keep. The rest of the profit goes to the gas company (BP in my instance).
selinauno 9 months ago
This happened at one of our gas stations here too awhile back. What happened was, they got a new system installed... on the old system all they had to type in was 3.97.... on the new system they were supposed to type in the tax also..so they should have typed in 3.979.... So gas was sold for .39 a gallon. They figured it out in a 1/2 hour...but April almost lost her job because of it. :(
selinauno 9 months ago
selinauno, as a side note, the tax is more than .009.
JustAnotherMutant 9 months ago
You did the right thing but there are some problems to this, people have the right to buy some thing at the advertised price, you didn't know if that price was wrong or not you assumed that it was because it seemed too good to be true right? So why do you believe in god? The law states that a reasonable person could make the judgment that the price was wrong in this case so why can't you use that ability to reason in other aspects of life? Also at 3:37 did you just try and punch me?

jezuzfreek777 9 months ago
@jezuzfreek777 Can you please explain why Americans have this xenophobic reaction to foreign made goods?
You'd think a country which values capitalism as highly as the US would appreciate that goods made at a cheaper price and sold in the free market is quite right to take business away from corporations that can't compete.
Secondly, it seems you are taking pride in that act. Why do you feel the need to tell everyone on youtube instead of keeping it between yourself and God?
AtheismandSkepticism 9 months ago
@AtheismandSkepticism Why do foreigners consider national pride to be synonymous with xenophobia? However, having said that, the higher percentage of products that we have domestically, the more of our people are working, and equally as important is that we are not at the mercy of other nations, some hostile, for goods in the event that we need to be 100% self-sufficient. I know this is impossible for countries that are only as big as Minnesota, but since we can, we should.

@MontrealAtheist if a person is a saved Christian then no amount of stealing could change that, once saved, always saved. the fear of hell applies to the unsaved person who rejects Christ.

No regrets!

@iReturnVide0tapes When you buy gas you tell the person at the counter how much cash you want to spend and they give that information to the computer inside the pump. They wouldn't really have a way to know how much gas people were getting.

I can't belive I agree with you, but yes you did the right thing
Vallas92 9 months ago
While I think it's wrong to accuse those people of stealing as they were partaking in a legal transaction , you did exactly the right thing. The sad thing is that nobody did it before you. Personally I'd have just driven past.

Just wondered if the station had an increase in inside sales?

It's not stealing, it's taking advantage of a MUCH needed discount. Stealing would be taking the gas, but refusing to pay for it.

Yup, this would be illegal in Sweden I believe.
But the truth is, gas is CHEAP in the US.It costs twice as much over here in Europe.
tgseason12 9 months ago
I would have just gotten the gas and enjoyed the rest of my day. Good luck to those clerks that messed up.
mymatryoshka 9 months ago

Blky9876 9 months ago
