Quoting Le Corbusier reveals just how misguided some of the Aerotropolis concepts are. How does aviation continue to work this way in an oil-constricted future? Why would anyone want to live near busy airports, highways, warehouses, factories, and freight railways that all generate air and noise pollution, even with alternate energy sources? There is a reason that these land uses are usually located in special districts that are separate from cities.
Nothing must happen "whether we like it or not." This is a horrible idea. Any city with an airport smack in the center is a constant buzz of noise and air pollution. This is a really myopic suggestion for "the way we'll live next." This is demonstrated by their use of "Sim City" type visuals instead of one of the many ugly cities around the world that are already built around an airport.
