I visited Reykjavik many years ago in my early 20's in May 1985 to watch Iceland v Scotland at football, I have yet to visit a country that can match it, fond memories great people.
Anyway Duncan, I'm sure living in Iceland does require a certain degree of toughness that your average Californian doesn't possess but people from the northern or midwestern portions of the U.S. would most likely be just fine in Iceland if they decided that they wanted to live there.
Duncan, for somebody that is seemingly well travelled you're not the most tuned in person. I've lived in your hometown of Los Angeles before and have encountered that many times. Most of the world's people aren't like those in L.A. where people put coats on when it's 60 degrees. Iceland actually isn't as windy or as cold as Chicago or some other cities in America. Yet, millions live in those cities. The problem is that you don't know how to live that lifestyle.
The city has the charm of a small place, and the architecture is really picturesque. Anyway, there are also negative points that are worth mentioning. The weather in winter is unpleasant....those everlasting chilly winds really drive you mad. Staple commodities are overpriced, and the outskirts of the city are rather gloomy . It´s a perfect place for a brief visit, but not for a long-term stay.
10-8008 0304 hrs I came to see what level of life would suffer from current economic meltdown. What a bummer for proud Iceland but GREAT post that fiondil.
for those of you who can't read icelandic, Drullaapriki (which means 'shit on a stick') just said "you are all really pathetic". I would urge you, however, not to judge all Icelanders based on his comments. I'm Icelandic and I'm nice enough... :)
ekki margir eru svona hreinskilnir eins og þú, flestir hefðu farið að rífa sig eithvað, þú mátt eiga það að þú ert góð manneskja, leitt að það sé skortur á góðu fólki
This is AWSOME. The best video about Reykjavíck in youtube. WOW the city looks so peacefull !!. I would like to go there some day and I am already planning it up!!

I've just returned home to Scotland after visiting my friend who has moved there and I can't wait to get back in September.
Great place, the best nightlife, and great food with friendly people, you just have to go as its an amazing place. Awesome video..
