i just bought one ordered one of these, apparently its on par with the good old shure sm58. hopefully the old saying you get what you pay for wont apply this time
What's your philosophy on really expensive microphones- the ones that cost hundreds of euros or dollars, work underwater, and blah blah blah! What's the point? I figure, as long as you don't have a nady low end mic, anywhere around the middle seems just fine. What do you think Johnathan?
For normal DJ working a mic like this is totally adequate and I wouldn't recommend taking the very expensive ones on a gig. Might get bashed up Those expensive mics are really only for recording and things of that sort where the difference in sound between 2 mics makes a difference. My personal recommendation for a DJ mic is the Shure SM58. It's about 100 USD and is Fantastic. Industry standard for live voice. Sounds great, Really durable, Will last you're whole life if you take care of it a bit
yeah there is a SM58 wireless, but ive heard it live, its not that good, you can hear the difference between wired and wireless, id pick a wireless Sennheiser over the wireless sm58, compared side by side, the Sennheiser has more of a clear clarity and warm feeling over the w/l sm58 which had a muddy sound, the highs were clear but mids were muddy.
i have sennheiser 935 and sm58, i prefer the 935, but not everyone does. i also use an electroVoice 410 (cardoid condenser) on another gig...great full sounding mic, but a little more expensive...but it's got a great sound if you're actually singing, check out that and 57A from shure also, its similar i think. but people have been using 58's for years.
you mean the shure beta57, yes it is a very versitile microphone, at a jazz festival i helped out in (3days) the main microphone was the beta57 it covered everything from vocals, to percussion, to winds, and strings.its classed as the best vocal microphone in Australia under $100
very cool! yea, i saw it listed as beta 57A, there's also an 87A, so i'm not sure which one i've seen in action, cuz i didn't realize there were a couple of others. do they sell those in the States for under $100 or just Australia? seems too good to be true. i know regular 57's you can usually find under $100 but the beta A's too? nice! tell us where! :)
hi, generaly for a working DJ a good mic price range of UK £60 to £80 will do, make you sound better and last far longer than a cheeper modle. The hyper xepensiver mic is for studio work or concerts. j
Hey loved your video. You are naturally talent to be funny and interesting. I have the same make and 50+ more other mikes. The D5 is a great value.

Amusing, but it would have been helpful for you to plug it in and let us hear it, maybe next to an SM58 or something.

SM58 is what I have it is perfect for DJ use. If you are going to be mobile and MC, I believe there is a wireless version of the SM58.
