@SoulBloodJVL I agree with you bro. Uso pa gitara non. I learned this song with guitar accompaniment. Maganda talaga samahan non, uso hiraman ng gamit ng mga kapitbahay. Ngayon kanya kanya na.
And by the way, my cat is in the hospital recuperating from surgery from a cancerous tumor and I do not know why I started singing this song to him when I stroke him as I visited him tonight. My heart just felt like this is the appropriate song for someone you love so much...
way back -- in Cebu, Philippines ---- this song was SOOOOO HUGE -- this is the first song I learned to play on the guitar when I was about 12 or 13.. Up to now, I still remember how to play it . It is always one of my favorites.
They were almost as melodic as the Beatles(if not more), their truly one of the better groups to come out of the 70's, though they were probably mostly misunderstood!
@Gxyz222 Actually, they were a 1960's made for TV group. I seen them in 1986 when they went on tour and made a big comeback at that time. Not familiar with this song though.
@jpsmart59 oh, thanks for correcting me on the decade of their appearance! I know you were very excited about actually seeing them and were probably as nice and as energetic as they sounded when they recorded music! I love all the other songs by this group, but for some reason, this one just seems to stick out the most, it's just timeless!
@Gxyz222 Their nickname was ( is ) the PRE- FAB FOUR. At the time, American television and the recording industry was trying to capitlize on The Beatles success here in America. The answer, of course, was basically Beatles copycats. While The Monkees were more " Bubblegum " than The Beatles, they still produced some great music although most songs were written for them and not by them. And, after all, WHO could really come close to The Beatles standards ??
@mrstevehartman I agree that ultimately the Beatles are still a better group, but the Monkees had the potential to be almost as good as the Beatles(if only they would have tried harder). They are still very entertaining to me!
@Gxyz222 Its a far cry from The Monkees to The Beatles. The Beatles were the cutting edge and many other bands just drafted in their wake. The Monkees were lucky to have their own TV show although Nesmith could care less. Like you, they are still entertaining to me also, and their better songs are classics !
@mrstevehartman come to think about it, the Beatles did eclipse so many bands(including this one) in many different ways. The Monkees were only known for a hand full of their hits, while everybody who's anybody knows just about all of the Beatles songs by heart! Maybe the Monkees at first didn't know what they had till they hooked back up together(though I still like their old stuff more).
@mrstevehartman I'm sorry, I'm not a huge fan of the Beatles. I"ve always liked the Monkees much more. I know were all supposed to like the Beatles more but honestly there's probably only two Beatle songs that I really like. Alot of their stuff is just plain weird.
@Poochyenagirl WELL, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I grew up with The Monkees in the 60s and never really listened to The Beatles till 68 or so. Actually, they were a good group with quite a few decent songs. But, they were " Bubble gum " as we used to say and rather contrived. The Beatles were the real deal to me and still are. I still like The Monkees or I would not be on this site. So, heres to " Daydream Believer ", my favorite !
THis is the song I use everytime my boyfriend calls me. I love it. We kept using Monkee references when we first started because no one else in school understood them because they're all too obssessed with Justin Beiber. This was one of the ones we used a lot. :)
@mariomaniac6411 Yeah, we constantly get weird looks from the other kids, but they'll think what they want. I refer to my bf as my long-haired weirdo. He gets it, one of my other friends gets it, but that's it. It's nice to have little references like that that so few people our age actually understand.
AS a young boy, I used to listen to my uncle sing this song with the guitar over and over again. And he would repeatedly listen to it from the Monkees LP.
This song really again brings back wonderful memories when I was in my High School, we used to sing this song with my classmates who is good in playing the guitar. This was at THE MISAMIS COLLEGES, OZAMIZ CITY , PHILIPPINES AND NOW MISAMIS UNIVERSITY
This one of my favorite monkee songs, Thanks for posting this song. A very Happy 68th Birthday Mike Nesmith and Happy 65th Birthday Davy Jones and many, many, more God Bless You both. Happy New Year to Everyone From The Langzelli Family 12/30/10
@CTMarineMom I would be willing to be that you would be a better wife than (according to the tabloids) his current 33 year old wife that physically abuses him.
this timeless song will traverse generations..its simply soul touching ..even when i was 6 yrs old when this song first captured the hearts of music lovers ..it instantly became an eternal favorite..
