Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions.
Who cares? Go ahead, if you want to run a Harem and fuck loads of women at the same time, be honest about it, why hide behind all this pseudo religious bullshit?
Get a sense of humour as well whilst you are at it! Cunts!
All one need do is read the Book of mormon (The truest book on earth-said Joseph Smith) to see the ridiculous things Mormons believe. The Book of Mormon and the made up story about the Lamanites has been scientifically proven to be worng by objective scientists. So tired of Mormons saying everyone is against them and if anyone calls them on their BS they say 'Oh well your in league with Satan". Ridiculous. I know the church has done the thinking for you
Ok , Mormon " doctrine" is administered by the first presidency. ie The president and his 3 councillors, after being vetted by the 12 apostles ( a committee ) However with the death of Joseph Smith "Revelation" seems non existent. Can't help but notice the comparison of Prophesying ie: Joseph Smith v's all the succeeding mormon prophets . score: new revelation NIL . JS direct revelation filled volumes. Are we missing something ? what about whats not revelation.?
Catholic theology is a moving target too. And like the speaker in this video Catholic apologists tend to claim that anything they don't agree with was "taken out of context". It's almost always about dodging the issue.
A little ghost town in El Dorado Hills is about to get very lively.

NOT as you understand it. NOT as taught by the ANTImormons. The ANTImormon version is NOT taught in the LDS Holy Scriptures. The place where ALL doctrine is located.
@Presbyterian4life It has never been an official doctrine and it isn't now, because even in Brigham Young's time the apostles could not agree on it, and it was never canonized.
Indeed... we only have 4 books of scripture. That IS our doctrine.
Wow, if people would just take 3:25 minutes out of the day to drink this milk, they would possibly think twice about loading up their plates with the vomit and filth that the world now tries to feed them. (Isaiah 28:7-10)
During the next five years of his assignment, Elder Nelson was heavily involved in central and eastern Europe — establishing relationships with communist nations, working with governments, dedicating countries, helping the LDS Church to gain official recognition, creating church units, helping missionaries receive allowance to enter previously closed regions.

Holiday sales: Since the Memorial Day weekend has also become somewhat synonymous with sales, the Prepared LDS Family reminds us that the "Memorial Day Weekend Sales are Great for Food Storage." She provides an example list of what she was able to get at local stores and explains, "Just look for the loss leaders most grocery stores are promoting, and avoid buying other things you really don't need. Even if you don't live in Utah, think food storage this week.`
"Involve all the sisters in the ward to care for the poor and the needy," she said. Some situations are confidential, but visiting teachers are also a good resource for that.
Sister Thompson referenced many pamphlets, booklets and Web sites with information about welfare and self-reliance. Reading from the book Providing in the Lord's Way, she explained the welfare plan, which is to build character in the members of the Church, givers and receivers.
Joseph Fielding Smith: The world at large is in ignorance regarding this wonderful character, the Ancient of Days. Much has been written of him, but mostly without knowledge. He is, so the Lord informs us, no other than Adam, our ancient father. It was taken out of context because they don't believe it or teach it any more. Notwithstanding, a number of years ago, a pair of elders seriously told me (never been a Mormon) that I needed to be taken out and blood atoned.
When members of the U.S. Senate confirmed Robert R. When asked what was the most the most memorable image from his day-and-a-half visit to the ravaged city, Elder Vinas replied: "The destruction and the desperation in the eyes of the people. If you're reading this, do your own investigation of the LDS Church. Look at it with an open mind. Research it. Study the contradictions and you too will find what I found out — that me and you were sold a bill of goods that cannot be delivered. Satans greatest weapon is deceit. I was deceived.
But your church leaders claim to be prophets of God who are in direct conections with Him. How many mistakes is a prophet aloud to make before they are a fallen prophet?
The only reason a prophet would fall from being a prophet would be because of his intent, his purpose. If he was changed and wanted to be in it for money, or for power, or things like that. Just because a prophet makes a mistake doesn't mean they are fallen, read in the Old Testament, I guarantee all of them made mistakes, just like the Apostles that Christ called, because none of us are perfect. That is the reason for the Atonement.
Deut. 18:19-22 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die. And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken? When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not...
"..Cont'd nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.
It is interesting to note that Joseph Smith died a violent death because he was a false prophet. God's word is true and Joseph was a liar. Christians need not regard his words.
colby, your argument makes no sense whatsoever. Because Stephen was stoned and then went to be with Christ, and since Joseph died in a gun battle, it validates him as a prophet?? what kind of moronic reasoning is that? No, Joseph was killed because he was a false prophet according to Deut. 18.
It makes complete sense to me. For one, people will make it out to be that Joseph was in this big shootout; 200 men with rifles against 4 men with a six shooter and a cane..... hmmm. And, why were they in there? They had been in and out of jail for a long time, always because mobs and people who hated Joseph for his teachings would get riled up and chaos would come in. Joseph was accused of many things, but no judge and no jury ever convicted him on anything.
So your lying leaders have told you. You believe it, and we both believe in the first amendment.
Why am I able to find American historical facts that indicate otherwise as far as his arrest at least, for glass looking? That he may not have been convicted does not make his families occult practices pure evil in Gods eyes any less tenable. We could talk about his introduction of a $3 bill that created chaos in the US monetary system, or his laughable dealings with the kinderhook plates, etc.
@theminimumdog gun battle? really 4 men against 300??? your really graspin at straws here, how in the world can you call that a gun battle? yeah and good thing you have no authority make claim that joseph smith is false prophet, but you have a fun time with that one!
@theminimumdog,if anyone is giving false information that is you!,we dont need to reguard false accusers,so for you to say that an innocent man deserved to die, then dont come trolling in here and claim you are a follower of christ your comments paint it that way!
From the Book of Mormon: # "I make a record in the language of my father ... the language of the Egyptians." That's a strange language an Israelite around 600 BCE to write in! There is no evidence of the use of Egyptian writing in pre-Columbian America. 1:2
There is actually evidence of that if you look in the right places and don't make up your mind one way or the other. There is plenty of evidence for and against the Book of Mormon.
Anyways, the Jews lived in Egypt for like 600 years, and that was before the time of Nephi, I'm sure that they had the Egyptian tongue and writing then. Nephi didn't start out in America, he started in Jerusalem.
Brigham Young stated:"I will tell you who the real fanatics are: they are they who adopt false principles and ideas as facts, and try to establish a superstructure upon a false foundation...If our religion is of this character we want to know it; we would like to find a philosopher who can prove it to us."
Mormon false prophets beginning with JS built a religion around a corpus of false teachings that are anti-biblical. Therefore, this fellows claims are fallacious. Why? The bible is the final court of arbitration for determining truth. Compared to mormon twistology, biblical doctrine stands and mormonism falls. This is easy to prove by the bible. Mormonism builds a whole superstructure beginning with the misconception of the nature of God. (Pantheism).
Not polytheism either, we worship one and only God, in the definition where worship allows us eternal life.(Worship in the dictionary says a reverential awe) You have to understand the simplicity in what we believe.
I have a question for you, do you believe in the Trinity, where God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are all one being, without body parts or passions? Or, Do you believe in the Holy Trinity as the Godhead, where they are all three separate and distinct individuals?
Um, can you please tell me who these "big groups" are that are employing people to bring members away from the church? I could sure use the money. I do this out of love for truth, love for Jesus, and love for those lost in mormonism.
To study the tri-unity as taught in scripture, go to Walter Martins You tube video teaching on the subject. It is spot on with what the Bible teaches. But, no, it is not sactioned or endorsed by the LDS church. However, it is none the less truth.
Please. Mormonism teaches a polythiestic view of God. Mormonism teaches that God the Father is a resurrected, "exalted" human being named Elohim who was at one time not God. Rather, he was once a mortal man on another planet who, through obedience to the precepts of his God, eventually attained exaltation, or godhood, himself through "eternal progression." The Mormon God, located in time and space, has a body of flesh and bone and thus is neither spirit nor omnipresent. Isaiah 44:6 Refutes LDS
That the three members of the Trinity are distinct persons is clear in that each is mentioned in distinction from the others. The Son prayed to the Father (cf. John 17). The Father from heaven about the Son at his baptism (Matt. 3:15-17). Indeed, the Holy Spirit was present at the same time, revealing that they coexist. Further, the fact that they have separate titles (Father, Son, and Spirit) indicate that they are not one person.
The lighting event also features nightly half-hour concerts featuring a variety of groups and musical styles, tours inside the Visitors Center and a display of international crèches.
This man looks a lot like Mr. Rogers but I'm not sure he is as "Kind Hearted" towards members of the Church of Jesus Chris.
If you are found with the spirit of discernment, listen to his and any other man's idea of the church but I would admonish "YouTubers" both members and those not members of our church to base your decisions to follow this man or any other man's advice upon your faith in God unto prayer and faith on the Lord, Jesus Christ who has a voice and can not be silenced.
"Victoria is the best place in Texas, and dare I say the world," added Elder Dayton Law, his 20-year-old trainer, flashing a bright smile. Law gave up a cabinet-making business in Utah to become a missionary.
"This is the good life out here doing this kind of stuff," he said.
"Victoria is awesome," said Elder Johnathon Cobabe, a 19-year-old Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionary from Washington. He's been in the city for little more than a month teaching and training.
"As a youth, I gained employment as a messenger in a local bank. On Saturdays, I was entrusted with the enormous responsibility of filling the fountain pens with ink. I enrolled at LDS Business College to learn Gregg Shorthand. That additional skill equipped me to become a part-time secretary to the bank's vice president. That gave me additional opportunity for advancement along with commensurate income that supported my pre-medical education at the University of Utah."
"When I was a teenager, I enrolled at the LDS Business College. I studied here with a specific objective. My long-range goal was to become a doctor. But medical school was an expensive and a distant dream.
"Never since the day of Joseph Smith; never since the translation of the Book of Mormon; never since the receipt of the revelations in the Doctrine and Covenants and the inspired writings in the Pearl of Great Price -- never has there been such an opportunity to increase gospel scholarship as has now come to those who have our new English editions of the scriptures." -- Elder Bruce R. McConkie
Wm. James Mortimer seemed a natural fit to be on the committee to create a new LDS edition of the King James Version of the Bible. As the vice president and general manager of Deseret Book, he was already responsible for producing and distributing scriptures for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Like many Mormons in the 1970s, his scripture reading was casual -- but that was going to change.
It helps to have money to be content like that. And it helps to live in a beautiful area such as Millcreek. But even more, giving brings a particular kind of happiness. I think that's what made John and Mary happy, sweet and satisfied with life.
The love followed John at his death in 1869. His funeral procession was more than a mile long.
Oh, just to clarify, it was adultery and NOT murder that I said was written in the D&C 42:25 where you would be given a first time forgiveness "pass" as long as you clearly were repentant. The church hardly does this anymore. That's why the comment in parenthesis was next to the word adultery and not murder.
Wow, isn't this uncanny. One person says that a person is rarely ex-communicated for fornication and even then it would have to be accompanied with being an agitator of the church, then another person says that "fornication is just as serious as adultery" and we all know that MOST adultery cases do end with ex-communication. So which is it? Is fornication not that serious of a thing or is it just as serious as adultery?
It is dependant on each individual cercumstance and the Church Court officiating for that person. Excommunication is not cut and dry, Sure in the beginning they were but the church is more lenient now.
That depends. Adultry implies being married. That makes the act worse than just fornication. The more oaths you make and the higher in the priesthood you are the mre serious the punishments
The one big problem I see in the church is how we are COMMANDED to confess to the bishop sexual immoralities such as masterbation and fornication. These are things that most teens and young people go through at some time or another, yet we can end up in a disciplinary court over these and very likely be excommunicated! Also, in the D&C it says that we only have to confess if it's murder and adultery (which is to be forgiven first time. not any more!), yet these other things got thrown in? How?
The power to procreate is second only to the power to create. This is not a power to be treated lightly or with little consideration. Just as you would not want your own daughter used or abused, that girl is someone else's daughter and should be treated as the child of God that she is. Yes, we all have our free agency, but we all must also make a full account of our actions as well. Fornication is just as serious as adultery and our church leaders know this.
Sorry, can't be excommunicated for masterbation, maybe in rare cases fornification, that is if the person is unrepentant and becomes an agitator towards the church. D&C doesn't say you can forgiven for murder the 1st time.
That is good. There is also a growing trend in the church among members to not se the scriptures. We need to stop defending and start sharing, teaching, and testifying.
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty
Anyone sincerely wishing to study scientific evidences of The Book of Mormon should contact the Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies (FARMS) for a catalog of scholarly papers on a wide range of topics.
Their address is P.O. Box 7113 University Station, Provo, Utah 84602.
The difference is Catholics, Baptists and other genuine Christian religiions don't teach that God gives secret direct revelations to selected leaders -- recorded in the ever growing (and surprisingly edited D&C). The Mormon machinery does teach that -- one of the reason that the teachings about people of African descent and polygamy shifts, depending on what is politically expedient. And don't even get me started on the acceptable practice of lying to Gentiles, because they aren't Mormon.
Prayer, if given in faith, is acceptable to God at all times. If you ever feel you cannot pray, that is the time you definitely need to pray, exercising faith. Nephi taught in plainness: If ye would hearken unto the Spirit [of God] which teacheth a man to pray ye would know that ye must pray; for the evil spirit teacheth him that he must not pray (2 Nephi 32:8).
Kinda funny how this guy has to make a 3+min video to defend his faith over a video that was not only a PARODY but did not even last 2 min in full lol...wtf!! There is such a thing as freedom of speech in America - and that counts in comedy/parody!
If you look at all the mis-information that is out there on the Internet about the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You as a member of that faith you would want to get the truth out too. Or let me guess!! You would let all mis-information about Your particular Church just run wild on the internet with out saying a word!! NOOTT
Well not all the information about LDS out there on the Internet is wrong!
Some of it is right, and you can go find many many quotes from these men and read them for yourself!
The Internet has hurt the Church, because many LDS would have never searched for these quotes of the past at the local Library, and determine for themselves what is true or not!
One thing is for sure The Church would never read some of these quotes on Sunday!
. You may say to yourselves, 'How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?' If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously..."
Using that same Deut scripture again huh? That scripture just says to not take all a prophets words as prophecy, Again you leave the "thou shalt not be afraid of him" Again, it say's nothing about how to distinguish a false prophet. Ok? now remember this, because it's old hat..
I grow weary from your ramblings, this stuff can be researched online or by going to the sites themselves, you wanted addresses I gave them to you. You said there was nothing, I gave you some. Put on some walking shoes man! .
We should believe you because you have some writings on a stone? ( A Stone where some Experts say are a fake)
We ate going to put our life in Heaven a
on that?
In the BOM there are Millions & Millions of people, Hundreds of Huge Cities, with no doubt Millions & Millions of Graves , and everything that goes with Millions of People, that would add up to Millions of Artifacts, and all you have is 1 Coin ? 1 Coin you can't even prove?
The Los Lunas Inscription is an abridged version of the Decalogue or Ten Commandments, carved into the flat face of a large boulder resting on the side of Hidden Mountain, near Los Lunas, New Mexico, about 35 miles south of Albuquerque. The language is Hebrew, and the script is the Old Hebrew alphabet, with a few Greek letters mixed in.
The Los Lunas stone is sometimes cited by Latter Day Saint laypeople as evidence that supports the existence of the Nephites in Mormon archaeology,
FARMS, a scholarly group associated with BYU, has no scholarship dealing with the site and does not make any evidentiary use of it, and Hugh Nibley, a professor at Brigham Young University and an apologist for the LDS Church, denounced it as a transparent fraud in an official LDS publication
American archaeologists Robert C. Mainfort, Jr., and Mary L. Kwas have recently argued in American Antiquity (2004) that the inscription was copied from an illustration in an 1870 Masonic reference book, and is therefore clearly a nineteenth century forgery that must have been introduced by the Smithsonian field assistant who found it.
While critics will repeat old arguments that the Bat Creek Stone is a forgery, it is important to recognize that "there is absolutely no indication that the inscription is a forgery, in the first place, other than the circular, and therefore unscientific, argument that being Hebrew, it must surely be a fake" (J. Huston McCulloch, "The Bat Creek Stone: A Reply to Mainfort and Kwas," Tennessee Anthropologist, Vol. 18, No. 1, Spring 1993, p. 16,
The book of Mormon is true because (insert excuses here) and Joe had sex with so many woman because (insert excuses here) and the reason Brigham Young hated Blacks is because (insert excuses here), Now the Archaeological Evidence & DNA Evidence does not show the truth because (insert excuses here). As for the Bible, it is only half true! Ha ha ha !
Deer Creek coin; The coin was found in a plowed field about 3-4 miles above the confluence of Deer Creek with the Scioto River, and about 2 miles above the famous Arledge Furnace site. The find was first reported by Victor Moseley in the Midwest Epigraphic Society Journal, Vol. 3, #2 (1986), p. 36. Elliott, a retired railwayman who now lives in Frankfort, Ohio, still owns the coin.
The religious text of the Book of Mormon is not intended as a scientific guide, and those who don't believe it will have no motivation to use it for any purpose at all, certainly not as a scientific guide.
Just one non- LDS opinion of "writings on the Stone " vs The Smithsonian & National Geographic Society?
is that all you have?
Dude! The BOM tells of Huge Cities, Mollioms & Millions of People, Weapons, Temples, Tools, coins, meatels, and on & on & on! And all you can come up with is an opinion of writings on a STONE?
Dude; pictures of highways made of cement, Murals on wall showing a diversity in dark and light skinned peoples. Los Lunas stone with the Ten Commandments! Bones of Elephants, Temples found in areas where B of M plausably took place. Metalergy found. The full story is found in Richard L. Burger and Robert B. Gordon, "Early Central Andean Metalworking from Mina Perdida, Peru," Science, Vol. 282, No. 5391 (6 Nov. 1998), pp. 1108-1111.
Just because you believe in Jesus being a Prophet from God does not make you a Christian! You are a Mormon , NOT a Christians, so stop trying to steal it Lady!
No, you are the one who's wrong. We believe Jesus is our Saviour, not "just a prophet". Muslims don't believe the Bible to be as sacred as the Koran. We don't be.ieve the Book of Mormon as an extension, but as another testament.
We don't practice plural marriage.
We don't beleive Joseph Smith was the last prophet. He was the first prophet of the last dispensation of time.
Muslims don't believe the Bible to be as sacred as the Koran AND THE MORMONS DON"T BELIEVE THE BIBLE TO BE AS SACRED AS THE BOOK OF MORMON
Please stop lying!
Book of Mormon is not the word of God, AND You are wrong, BECAUSE GOD TELLS US WITH HIS WORDS IN THE BIBLE!~
Joe & Mohamed both tried the same thing, They tried to gain Power by using Jesus & the Bible as a Launching Pad to a Prophet.. But No man can over ride the Bible! Sorry!
According to Robert J. Matthews, professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University, writing in the LDS churchs publication the Ensign (I Have a Question, September 1981, p. 16), Joseph Smith obtained the doctrine of salvation for the dead by revelation and not from the printed pages of the Bible ..
I think that this is mostly true. However, from what I understand, a lot of our doctrines came from Joseph Smith's translation of the Bible. Whenever he came across something he was unsure of, he would pray about it and that was when he received the revelations of doctrines for our church, salvation included.
My motivation is love; first and foremost for God, and because of this, for those I honestly believe to be in need of Gods truth. I believe God is glorified when His truth is proclaimed, and since I love Him, I do desire to see Him glorified. As the Scripture says, " Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Cor. 10:31)
"The Law and the Prophets were until John: Since that time the Kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it." The time for declaring the forthcoming of the Kingdom was over; the kingdom itself was now to be declared by the Son himself!
Sorry but according to God, there is no need for Joe or Mohamed
One of the most interesting evidences of transoceanic contact between the Old and New Worlds is the Bat Creek Hebrew inscription found by a Smithsonian expedition in Tennessee in 1889. (The Bat Creek Stone and other interesting oddities of archaeology, including pre-Columbian maize in India, can be seen at the Archaeological Outliers site.)
thinks the bible is a religious document, but also says this,
But archaeologists do indeed find the Bible a valuable reference tool, and have used it many times for geographic relationships, old names, and relative chronologies.
Anti-Mormon writers such as the Tanners have spent much effort trying to argue that the writing on the Bat Creek Stone is not Hebrew. However, non-LDS scholar J. Huston McCulloch has now shown that the Bat Creek inscription, once thought to be Cherokee, "fits significantly better as Paleo-Hebrew"
Dude: Jesus said to do his works not just listen to them and sin and sin again.James his apostles said "Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only deciving your own selves" James 1:22-25. Read this he gives some good council.
Dude: if all of these things found were from the BOM why do all the experts say the book is a fake?
It's very simple, there is no " Book of Mormon Museum of Artifacts" for a reason, and lying, wishful thinking is not going to Build you one ether.
For a church( who tells the World they are the only true church) you have nothing:
no artifacts what so ever, false prophecy from the leaders, and then( twisting the Bible to fit LDS, and then trashing it ) makes you look like a fool.
Would all those experts be...let me guess anti-mormons? Yep they are experts alright, expert at deceiving. Now get your notebook out; Bountiful and Nahom in the Arabian Peninsula, Valley of Lemuel Evidence B of M true, Writings on Metal plates, buried plates, Genes linking Eurasians and Native Americans, Use of cement, Chiasmus in B of M. Mesoamerica fortifications, Land of Jerusalem written correctly in BofM for that time period. Dead sea scrolls with some of same ordinaces, So I have nothing??
The Bat Creek stone long lay out of sight in a back room of the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., but currently it is on indefinite loan to the McClung Museum of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where it is prominently on display.
There, some addresses, now go put on your hiking boots, might want to bring some kindling so bring your anti-mormon literature, it should burn rather well..
Shall we? But let's not talk about the book of breathings because they were not from the work Joseph translated. There were two sets of scrolls one went to St Louis and the other (scrolls) went to Chicago and were burned up in the Great Chicago Fire of 1871.
One can't show what one does not have. There are many records, in journals especially, that what Joseph Smith had was much much more than waht we have today of the papyri used to translate the Book of Abraham.
Because he knew that the Bible was not perfect, and had been thru too many translations and interpretations to be that correct.
The reason the Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion is because, like the keystone in an arch, if it's removed, the whole thing falls. If the Book of Mormon is not the word of God, then we are wrong. But it's the word of God, just like the Bible. That's why we are still strong.
The Bible can be used to support Latter-day revelation, but not to critique it. But this then means that the distinctive doctrines of Mormonism have no organic, historical connection to the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ and his apostles. It is this disturbing fact which undermines the LDS churchs claim to preach the restored gospel.
..Matthews explains that this is true of Mormon doctrine in general: the Bible was not the source of the doctrines the Prophet Joseph Smith taught. Rather, the Bible, so far as it is translated correctly, is tangible evidence that the doctrines he received by revelation were the same as those the ancient prophets obtained by revelation.
I honestly believe that the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are false; so much so that to believe in those teachings is to deny Gods truth, and to reject the Gospel. This is not merely my "feeling," but is the result of comparing Mormon teachings with the clear truths of the Bible. You may disagree with my conclusion, but the important thing to remember is that I honestly believe Mormonism to be a false system that cannot give true salvation to anyone.
So I ask you to hear me out as one who cares for you. I am here because "the love of Christ compels me" to share with you (2Cor. 5:14). And if my words are not enough, will you heed some wise counsel from one of your own leaders, Brigham Young? He said, "I say to the whole world, receive truth, no matter who presents it to you. Take up the Bible, compare the religion of the Latter-day Saints with it, and see if it will stand the test."
When I was growing up, my mom made sure I went to church every week. And study the Bible. And I did. And this was the METHODIST church. And because of that study, I knew that I had not yet found the most Biblical church.
Not until I talked to the LDS missionaries. Then I KNEW that I had found the most Biblical church. I now understand teh Bible better than ever. Not just a verse here and a verse there, but every verse in it's proper context.
Brigham Young . "...no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith." (Journal of D, V.7, p. 289)
Brigham Young "Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so."(Journal of D, V 10, p110.)
first quote, he was speaking about thsoe who thought that they had "killed" Mormonism by the death of Joseph Smith. You have the reference, so look up the entire quote, in context.
Second, it says that the law of GOD, and the white MAN of the chosen seed, meaning the priesthood, and it's the white man who's worthy of death, for raping black women. Interracial marriage was illegal back then.
"If we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel than that we have preached let him be accursed."
...the Lord said to me, 'The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart." Jeremiah 14:14
Yes, it's simple if you read ALL of Galatians. Which you don't seem to have done.
And why should I think that Jeremiah was speaking of anyone other than the specific people he was talking about? Our prophets speak in the name of the Lord when they are speaking for the Lord. They don't tell lies. They don't have any reason to. They don't have any motivation to.
Adding to and Taking away from God's words is what you accuses others of doing, Yet it is you who are trying to cover for Joe by trying to confuses people with God's VERY SIMPLE WORDS!
There is no need for Joe Or Mohamed or Budda, or any other prophet! WHY???
Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people. The abolition of religion as the illusory happiness of the people is the demand for their real happiness. To call on them to give up their illusions about their condition is to call on them to give up a condition that requires illusions.

But your church leaders claim to be prophets of God who are in direct conections with Him. How many mistakes is a prophet aloud to make before they are a fallen prophet?
inkchild 2 years ago
The only reason a prophet would fall from being a prophet would be because of his intent, his purpose. If he was changed and wanted to be in it for money, or for power, or things like that. Just because a prophet makes a mistake doesn't mean they are fallen, read in the Old Testament, I guarantee all of them made mistakes, just like the Apostles that Christ called, because none of us are perfect. That is the reason for the Atonement.

It is interesting to note that Joseph Smith died a violent death because he was a false prophet. God's word is true and Joseph was a liar. Christians need not regard his words.
theminimumdog 2 years ago
Was Stephen a false prophet just because he was stone to death? Acts 7 Of course not. Joseph died a martyrs death, plain and simple.
colbytownsend 2 years ago
colby, your argument makes no sense whatsoever. Because Stephen was stoned and then went to be with Christ, and since Joseph died in a gun battle, it validates him as a prophet?? what kind of moronic reasoning is that? No, Joseph was killed because he was a false prophet according to Deut. 18.
theminimumdog 2 years ago
It makes complete sense to me. For one, people will make it out to be that Joseph was in this big shootout; 200 men with rifles against 4 men with a six shooter and a cane..... hmmm. And, why were they in there? They had been in and out of jail for a long time, always because mobs and people who hated Joseph for his teachings would get riled up and chaos would come in. Joseph was accused of many things, but no judge and no jury ever convicted him on anything.
colbytownsend 2 years ago
So your lying leaders have told you. You believe it, and we both believe in the first amendment.
Why am I able to find American historical facts that indicate otherwise as far as his arrest at least, for glass looking? We could talk about his introduction of a $3 bill that created chaos in the US monetary system, or his laughable dealings with the kinderhook plates, etc.

However, it is none the less truth.
theminimumdog 2 years ago
Isaiah 44:6 Refutes LDS
theminimumdog 2 years ago
That the three members of the Trinity are distinct persons is clear in that each is mentioned in distinction from the others. The Son prayed to the Father (cf. John 17). The Father from heaven about the Son at his baptism (Matt. 3:15-17). Indeed, the Holy Spirit was present at the same time, revealing that they coexist. Further, the fact that they have separate titles (Father, Son, and Spirit) indicate that they are not one person.

Oh, just to clarify, it was adultery and NOT murder that I said was written in the D&C 42:25 where you would be given a first time forgiveness "pass" as long as you clearly were repentant. The church hardly does this anymore. That's why the comment in parenthesis was next to the word adultery and not murder.
retsinor 2 years ago
Wow, isn't this uncanny. One person says that a person is rarely ex-communicated for fornication and even then it would have to be accompanied with being an agitator of the church, then another person says that "fornication is just as serious as adultery" and we all know that MOST adultery cases do end with ex-communication. So which is it? Is fornication not that serious of a thing or is it just as serious as adultery?
retsinor 2 years ago
It is dependant on each individual cercumstance and the Church Court officiating for that person. Excommunication is not cut and dry, Sure in the beginning they were but the church is more lenient now.
dirkhunter 2 years ago
That depends. Adultry implies being married. That makes the act worse than just fornication. The more oaths you make and the higher in the priesthood you are the mre serious the punishments
mjolnir18889 2 years ago
The one big problem I see in the church is how we are COMMANDED to confess to the bishop sexual immoralities such as masterbation and fornication. These are things that most teens and young people go through at some time or another, yet we can end up in a disciplinary court over these and very likely be excommunicated! Also, in the D&C it says that we only have to confess if it's murder and adultery (which is to be forgiven first time. not any more!), yet these other things got thrown in? How?
retsinor 2 years ago
retsinor,
The power to procreate is second only to the power to create.
Take care.
JackNimble61 2 years ago 2
Sorry, can't be excommunicated for masterbation, maybe in rare cases fornification, that is if the person is unrepentant and becomes an agitator towards the church. D&C doesn't say you can forgiven for murder the 1st time.

In the BOM there are Millions & Millions of people, Hundreds of Huge Cities, with no doubt Millions & Millions of Graves , and everything that goes with Millions of People, that would add up to Millions of Artifacts, and all you have is 1 Coin ? 1 Coin you can't even prove?
hahahahah!

What Prophet claimed #1.. of having angel visitations, and of receiving divine revelation to restore pure religion to the earth again.
#2 ..created new scripture claiming to correct the Bible
#3... saw Him self as prophesied in scripture, and as a continuation of a long line of Biblical prophets.
#4 ...held up their own scripture as superior to the Bible & a a perfect copy of the original which was in heaven
#5... taught that true salvation was to be found only in their religion
splitspeeds 2 years ago
#4 is wrong. We don't hold anything to be superior to the Bible, nor do we hold ANY scripture to be perfect.
And, yes, salvation IS found only in Jesus Christ. I thought that was a given to ANY Christian.
lindalds 2 years ago
1st of all
You are not a Christian.
The Devil believes in Jesus, is he a Christian?
2nd of all " FACT" Joe taught the bible was corupt!
AND
" I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion"
AND he tried to re write the Bible, the "INPSIRED VIRSON"
(look it up if you dare), but beware!
You will not like the truth!
splitspeeds 2 years ago
The devil believes, but does not believe IN.
No, he did not teach that the Bible was corrupt, he said it might have been corrupted.
And the Book of Mormon is probably more correctly translated than the Bible is.
He did do a translation of the Bible. It's no secret. We don't use it as our official Bible, tho.
CHRISTian is a follower of Christ. We follow Christ.

SORRY!

Don't mind citing the publication and page number Nibley denounced the Los Lunas stone do you?

Still waiting..... Humm... Where is that darn publication that says that... It has to be here somewhere... perhaps under this magazine.. nope!

Deer Creek coin
American archaeologists Robert C. Mainfort, Jr., and Mary L. Kwas have recently argued in American Antiquity (2004) that the inscription was copied from an illustration in an 1870 Masonic reference book, and is therefore clearly a nineteenth century forgery that must have been introduced by the Smithsonian field assistant who found it.
SORRY!
splitspeeds 2 years ago
While critics will repeat old arguments that the Bat Creek Stone is a forgery, it is important to recognize that "there is absolutely no indication that the inscription is a forgery, in the first place, other than the circular, and therefore unscientific, argument that being Hebrew, it must surely be a fake" (J. Huston McCulloch, "The Bat Creek Stone: A Reply to Mainfort and Kwas," Tennessee Anthropologist, Vol. 18, No. 1, Spring 1993, p. 16,
Sorry!

I sorry to laugh, but.. dude, your a fool.
Ha ha ha !
There you go. I did it for you.

The religious text of the Book of Mormon is not intended as a scientific guide, and those who don't believe it will have no motivation to use it for any purpose at all, certainly not as a scientific guide.
dirkhunter 2 years ago
Just one non- LDS opinion of "writings on the Stone " vs The Smithsonian & National Geographic Society?
is that all you have?
Dude! The BOM tells of Huge Cities, Mollioms & Millions of People, Weapons, Temples, Tools, coins, meatels, and on & on & on! And all you can come up with is an opinion of writings on a STONE?
To what depths will you go to back this Lie?
IT NEVER HAPPENED!

Joe Smith & the BOM has more in common with Mohamed & the Koron, then Jesus & the Bible
and all the experts agree! sorry, but you live on "fantasy Island"

However, Mohammed "wrote" the Koran, but Jesus did NOT write The Bible.

lindalds :
We never taught that Jesus "was just another in a long line of human prophets
No,???? the BOM teach Jesus as the son of God, a prophet from God, but Jesus is NOT GOD in the Flesh!
The same is true about the teachings of Mohamed
You're wrong!
Jesus is God in the Flesh!
This is the Back bone of Christianty, and Mormon don't believe that, but nether do Muslims!
splitspeeds 2 years ago
Jesus is not Heavenly Father. Jesus is our Lord and Saviour. Jesus is the only begotten Son of God.
Muslims do not believe that Jesus is divine. We do.
lindalds 2 years ago
Just because you believe in Jesus being a Prophet from God does not make you a Christian! You are a Mormon , NOT a Christians, so stop trying to steal it Lady!
splitspeeds 2 years ago
sorry, but once again you are wrong!
Muslims believe Jesus is a Prophet sent from God as does Mormons!
Muslims believe the Koran is an extention of the Bible as does the same with Mormons and the BOM
Muslims believe in Multi wives as do ( some) Mormons!, BUT ALL Mormons did not long ago!
Muslims believe the Mohamed is the last prophet from God, as Mormon's believe Joe is the last prophet from God!
splitspeeds 2 years ago
No, you are the one who's wrong. We believe Jesus is our Saviour, not "just a prophet". Muslims don't believe the Bible to be as sacred as the Koran. We don't be.ieve the Book of Mormon as an extension, but as another testament.
We don't practice plural marriage.
We don't beleive Joseph Smith was the last prophet. He was the first prophet of the last dispensation of time.
lindalds 2 years ago
EXCUSES ME?
Sorry!
splitspeeds 2 years ago
Yes, we do believe the Bible as sacred as the Book of Mormon.
God says nothing about THE BIBLE in the Bible. The Bible says nothing about THE BIBLE.
Joseph Smith was not seeking power, otherwise, he would have given up LONG before he was killed.
lindalds 2 years ago
NO SORRY! YOU ARE WRONG AGAIN!
According to Robert J. Matthews, professor of ancient scripture at Brigham Young University, writing in the LDS churchs publication the Ensign (I Have a Question, September 1981, p. 16), Joseph Smith obtained the doctrine of salvation for the dead by revelation and not from the printed pages of the Bible ..
splitspeeds 2 years ago
I think that this is mostly true. However, from what I understand, a lot of our doctrines came from Joseph Smith's translation of the Bible. Whenever he came across something he was unsure of, he would pray about it and that was when he received the revelations of doctrines for our church, salvation included.
lindalds 2 years ago
My motivation is love; first and foremost for God, and because of this, for those I honestly believe to be in need of Gods truth. I believe God is glorified when His truth is proclaimed, and since I love Him, I do desire to see Him glorified. As the Scripture says, " Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God" (1 Cor. 10:31)
splitspeeds 2 years ago
I would Challenge you to seek God's words in the Bible First,
Why?
Because In Luke 16:16, the Lord clearly stated,
"The Law and the Prophets were until John: Since that time the Kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it." The time for declaring the forthcoming of the Kingdom was over; the kingdom itself was now to be declared by the Son himself!
Sorry but according to God, there is no need for Joe or Mohamed
or any other Prophet for that matter!
splitspeeds 2 years ago
That's not what that verse is saying. It's talking to the PHarisees, who refused to see what was right in front of them.

One of the most interesting evidences of transoceanic contact between the Old and New Worlds is the Bat Creek Hebrew inscription found by a Smithsonian expedition in Tennessee in 1889. (The Bat Creek Stone and other interesting oddities of archaeology, including pre-Columbian maize in India, can be seen at the Archaeological Outliers site.)
dirkhunter 2 years ago
The Smithsonian
thinks the bible is a religious document, but also says this,
But archaeologists do indeed find the Bible a valuable reference tool, and have used it many times for geographic relationships, old names, and relative chronologies.
Please stop lying!
splitspeeds 2 years ago
Anti-Mormon writers such as the Tanners have spent much effort trying to argue that the writing on the Bat Creek Stone is not Hebrew. However, non-LDS scholar J. Huston McCulloch has now shown that the Bat Creek inscription, once thought to be Cherokee, "fits significantly better as Paleo-Hebrew"
dirkhunter 2 years ago
Dude, Why is not just the Love of Jesus good enough for you?
Why can't you see that is all you need?
splitspeeds 2 years ago
Dude: Jesus said to do his works not just listen to them and sin and sin again.James his apostles said "Be ye doers of the word and not hearers only deciving your own selves" James 1:22-25. Read this he gives some good council.
dirkhunter 2 years ago
Dude: if all of these things found were from the BOM why do all the experts say the book is a fake?
It's very simple, there is no " Book of Mormon Museum of Artifacts" for a reason, and lying, wishful thinking is not going to Build you one ether.
For a church( who tells the World they are the only true church) you have nothing:
no artifacts what so ever, false prophecy from the leaders, and then( twisting the Bible to fit LDS, and then trashing it ) makes you look like a fool.
splitspeeds 2 years ago
Would all those experts be...let me guess anti-mormons? Yep they are experts alright, expert at deceiving. Now get your notebook out; Bountiful and Nahom in the Arabian Peninsula, Valley of Lemuel Evidence B of M true, Writings on Metal plates, buried plates, Genes linking Eurasians and Native Americans, Use of cement, Chiasmus in B of M. Mesoamerica fortifications, Land of Jerusalem written correctly in BofM for that time period. Dead sea scrolls with some of same ordinaces, So I have nothing??

HELLO!
Hey , you sure don't know much about your own Church do you?
splitspeeds 2 years ago
There is no way on God's green earth that Joseph Smith could have written teh Book of Mormon from his own imagination.
No
Way
lindalds 2 years ago
Now ....One has to ask ?
If Joe believed the Bible then why did he not say:
" I told the brethren that the BIBLE was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion"
Hmmm?
nice try, but you don't know Joe do you?
splitspeeds 2 years ago
Because he knew that the Bible was not perfect, and had been thru too many translations and interpretations to be that correct.
The reason the Book of Mormon is the keystone of our religion is because, like the keystone in an arch, if it's removed, the whole thing falls. If the Book of Mormon is not the word of God, then we are wrong. But it's the word of God, just like the Bible. That's why we are still strong.
lindalds 2 years ago
.....Consider the implications of this statement:
The Bible can be used to support Latter-day revelation, but not to critique it. But this then means that the distinctive doctrines of Mormonism have no organic, historical connection to the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ and his apostles. It is this disturbing fact which undermines the LDS churchs claim to preach the restored gospel.
splitspeeds 2 years ago
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Personally, I find the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be the most Biblical church.
lindalds 2 years ago
..Matthews explains that this is true of Mormon doctrine in general: the Bible was not the source of the doctrines the Prophet Joseph Smith taught. Rather, the Bible, so far as it is translated correctly, is tangible evidence that the doctrines he received by revelation were the same as those the ancient prophets obtained by revelation.
splitspeeds 2 years ago
i agree.
lindalds 2 years ago
I honestly believe that the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are false; so much so that to believe in those teachings is to deny Gods truth, and to reject the Gospel. This is not merely my "feeling," but is the result of comparing Mormon teachings with the clear truths of the Bible. You may disagree with my conclusion, but the important thing to remember is that I honestly believe Mormonism to be a false system that cannot give true salvation to anyone.
splitspeeds 2 years ago
So I ask you to hear me out as one who cares for you. I am here because "the love of Christ compels me" to share with you (2Cor. 5:14). And if my words are not enough, will you heed some wise counsel from one of your own leaders, Brigham Young? He said, "I say to the whole world, receive truth, no matter who presents it to you. Take up the Bible, compare the religion of the Latter-day Saints with it, and see if it will stand the test."
splitspeeds 2 years ago
When I was growing up, my mom made sure I went to church every week. And study the Bible. And I did. And this was the METHODIST church. And because of that study, I knew that I had not yet found the most Biblical church.
Not until I talked to the LDS missionaries. Then I KNEW that I had found the most Biblical church. I now understand teh Bible better than ever. Not just a verse here and a verse there, but every verse in it's proper context.
So, yes, please, listen to Brigham Young!
lindalds 2 years ago
So, yes, please, listen to Brigham Young?
Brigham Young . "...no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith." (Journal of D, V.7, p. 289)
Brigham Young "Shall I tell you the law of God in regard to the African race? If the white man who belongs to the chosen seed mixes his blood with the seed of Cain, the penalty, under the law of God, is death on the spot. This will always be so."(Journal of D, V 10, p110.)
splitspeeds 2 years ago
first quote, he was speaking about thsoe who thought that they had "killed" Mormonism by the death of Joseph Smith. You have the reference, so look up the entire quote, in context.
Second, it says that the law of GOD, and the white MAN of the chosen seed, meaning the priesthood, and it's the white man who's worthy of death, for raping black women. Interracial marriage was illegal back then.
lindalds 2 years ago
The LDS Church couldn't be " The Only True Church" if it was against God words about Love!
Sorry, But the Church has a past of Hate for Blacks AND EVERYONE KNOWS IT, so stop the dance!

Apostle Paul:
"If we or an angel from heaven preach any other gospel than that we have preached let him be accursed."
...the Lord said to me, 'The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart." Jeremiah 14:14
VERY SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND!
splitspeeds 2 years ago
Yes, it's simple if you read ALL of Galatians. Which you don't seem to have done.
And why should I think that Jeremiah was speaking of anyone other than the specific people he was talking about? Our prophets speak in the name of the Lord when they are speaking for the Lord. They don't tell lies. They don't have any reason to. They don't have any motivation to.
