Those girls dancing in the back are seriously confused, this is not boogie get down song, it's a more sit and listen and sing along if you feel the same way.
I had a 'fro back in the day...you should see my school picture for 1975...I'd look stupid today with that....but back then...I was a sophmore dating a senior...lol
not so much a song to dance to, more grab a shot or two and gaze to the skies enjoying the depth of a really wonderful piece of music. At 3:20, i so wish time travel existed to go back and sit near him composing this song without any backing tracks. However really glad i'm young enough to remember music. Smoke that plastic pop fellas of today :) Fab posting, Nick
why does celine dion just steal songs and then everyone thinks what a genius she is, yeah maybe she sang it the best, but american idol, don't acknowledge it as a celine dion song! aholes!
@RetroVGamer You're TOTALLY right...it's an Eric Carmen song..I hate when others steal from the true originator. She's great singer, but this is ERIC'S composition. It's HIS...he's the genius behind it.
@jleb22 no...it's BASED on the russian composer Rachmaninov....and that's only the "interlude" section...get it..?....Eric wrote the chorus as well.... do you think Rachmaninov wrote words to a pop tune in the 1800's....?? Guess again.
@GUIDOBRAT Wrong! Not only the interlude at all. The verse is lifted straight from the Second Piano Concerto, the chords are EXACTLY the same. Go and look it up. Quote by Eric Carmen himself "I was listening to Rachmaninoff's 2nd piano concerto (written in 1901) and I heard the melody which I used for the verse. "

@jleb22 Yes man, that is known. He isn't trying to rip off Rachmaninoff at all. He is honering him by sampling from him. He isn't even trying to hide it. But I think it is a successful re-arrangment on his part. I like how he adds his mini cadenza before the final return. Atleast on the recording it is much better and more full. Here it is pretty weak and sleepy and he even hit a wrong note. Funny how Josh Groban did the exact same thing on "Remember When it Rained"
@RetroVGamer Seeing as I have not heard of a lawsuit in which she's been accused of stealing a song without acknowledgement and proper compensation, I am gonna assume she got permission and his blessing
@BobsArtGallery Wouldn't expect anything less from the infamous TOTP orchestra. The irony of it all is that the guitarist probably actually WAS asleep! Seeing as the TOTP orchestra members were all middle-aged time servers that were only getting work due to the restrictive practices imposed by the Musician's Union.

Poor Eric has a pretty dreadful audience here, that idiotic bloke talking all the way through, and most of the others seem about 15 years old..

I do hear the similarities, and both rachmaninov and Eric have amazing talents!
