When Sasuke was eight, Itachi went evil and killed his entire clan, except for Itachi. Now Sasuke is about sixteen and he finally kills his brother like he's been planning since the massacre of his family. so yeah.

He was poisoned by Tobi, to make sure that Itachi will die 100 % after the battle with Sasuke. Tobi knew Itachi could tell Sasuke the truth, Itachi knew everything about Tobi, so he had to be removed. One way or another.

This show teaches a lot to everyone who watches it, like in this clip "family is always there for you even if you dont think they are". and theres many others.
