who are the assholes shouting to the marshales to DO THEIR JOB in this clip ! do these prick not realise you do not get paid for standing in the rain for hours before the first car comes and for hours after all the spectators leave to clean up after them, This is done so that Proper rally fans can enjoy the sport, without Marshales this could not happen. Accidents can and will happen and it makes my blood boil when pricks blame marshales, Get a life ,
Can you define what in your opinion is a "Proper Rally Fan" in the view of a Rallyhead. The standard of the Marshalling on this stage will not be used as a "Guide to Marshalling "as they were errors made. The Marshal on the road caused the Polo driver to miss his breaking point, he should have taken into account the times between cars and moved himself out of the way. He should also have taken this into consideration as a number of cars had similar near misses. You must be a genius not to figure
well it proves this can happen to eny one as i no the driver/co driver of the astra are very experienced rally drivers but thankfuly thay where repaired and running again the next day
jesus guys lay off each other ffs!!! andy that marshall was keeping a box junction clear, the water on that road that morning could have sent any one of those cars into an uncontrollable missile, one car came close to leaving the raod just at the house and he would have went up that road so take that into consideration please
andymc_did you not read my comment about the sector marshal?????????
He was up the road, it was his job to slow the next car but he didn't, he done nothing all day, as for the arrows that's not up to us to, they were placed there by WRC officials so we can't move them. Anyway if the recci was done right they would have known what was ahead.
the arrows shouldn't have been turned. at the junction the road was straight so it is up to the drivers after that! maybe the marshals didn't do their job to the fullest extent. its hard to do your job with people that clearly know better shouting at you. or maybe they were trying to keep fags of spectators back. tell us andy are you a member of motor club?
It's the likes of you that give motorsport in ireland bad reputation. If you are a member of a Motorclub you would be fully aware of that fact and maybe stop with the school ground words!!!!!
if you knew a thing about rallying you'd have known you can't have an arrow when the turn is not at a junction. the road at the junction was straight, the right turn was after the junction so the Drivers have no grounds for complaint.
hmmm. I marshalled there in 2007. 8 hours i spent standing out in shit so don't consider telling me i'm wrong. The main road went straight passing the turn off to the left, 40-50 yards after junction the road went to the right. the main road was dead straight until the turn. you cannot have arrows pointing somewhere indicating something after the junction. drivers still have no cause for complaint- they fucked up.
its clear that the dickheads of experts on here know alot. If ye actually did you would know that flags are not allowed on WRC events which signal the stage stopped and the possiblity of services. Spectators think they know the whole story but they know nothing. I marshalled in 2007 at that corner and that road is like glass. They wouldn't have stopped a snail.
gaza you're so right, people roaring "get your flags out" fuck sake like, let us do our job, they'd be compaining if nothing happened!! i dunno, as i said it previous comments it was an accident so get over it.
Hi Daniel, Now don't get me wrong but you'd have to agree the Polo off could have been avoided, only from the point of view that he would avoid landing on the Astra, No doubt he would of gone off anyhow, due to the standing water, See my other Vid of Burkart and he Can drive! Glad noone was hurt and as I know it's not always easy being a marshal. As regards the Sector marshal, I thought that it was him in the Red water-proof jumpsuit on the Bridge, Now he did get alot of abuse from the crowd!
Oh no that defo wasn't him!! We landed at 5am on that junction and the lazy f*** stayed asleep in his car til 9am, he then just put tape around his car & walked up the road......he also left as soon as the last car went through & left the cleaning up to us :( There was 2 guys in the red jumpsuits, father & son, not sure which one was on the bridge, will watch again!!
Have you guys seen the clip were loeb almost hits an officer? I guess my point is that the ones in charge not always knows best and noone is really to blame. They are there to get some structure and keep the maniacs off of the road
thank you Smcnova, desireland - the " sector" marshal was up the road on his phone, (we have footage to prove this), not on the bridge, the " extra" marshals which included myself had to stay in position to keep the crowd that were surrounding the house from going onto the road. We have to follow orders as well you know if you are a marshal. Accidents happen but it's easy to blame someone isn't it?
Hi all, This is getting interesting. . .Me the video guy, wasn't the one shouting about the flags, that was the guy to my left, But there were more marshals on the corner other than the Section marshal on the bridge and those helping the drivers of the cars. It was these "extra Guys" that were standing further down the road that the crowd was shouting at. One last note . I marshalled all day Saturday and Sunday, Also shooting the video was difficult as my hands were freezing!
Well certainly stirred up a hornets nest with flossyeire. Its called free speech and was just a comment. I have no problem with the lad and his polo. I was just making a commet and besides just because he has an international licence does not make him any better of a driver o indeed anything special. And whats the big issue with Nova's ?. For your info I have marshalled on more rally's than you have no doubt hot dinners, and remember it is voluntary. Good commet Greenybaby1 - common sense.
It's true about the flag, but if you were there you would have noticed that the sector marshal was too busy on his phone to slow down the second car, so if you're not aware of what's ahead you've no chance. The guy that was videoing should have caught that on tape as well before mouthing about all the marshals not doing their jobs, 2 of them were assisting the first car, the sector marshal was too busy taliking & had his back facing the on coming second car, so he's to blame, no one else!
Shows how much you know about marshalling on wrc rally, you do not wave a flag. If you do the stage is stopped. Besides the second car was been driven by some guy who won the lotto and this was his first rally. It looks like a fairly long straight into the accident so I am sure he seen the marshall. Easy to see you guys have never marshalled before. Video work is so easy isn,t it....
Jes your comments are very strong and not very well considered. The video is very well shot, better job then any of the marshalls at that corner, Idiot standing at the corner of the Bridge. Yes one point you actually have correct flags are not allowed at WRC rallies. As for the comment on the Polo so what if he won the Lotto fair play, and he spent €4,000 on entry ex expenses, sure for that price he would have brought at least 10 Novas He had to have a International License to enter Nova Boy!
we were roaring at the marshalls to stop the polo but the stupid clown just stood there and looked at us!...if it had come bout 10 seconds earlier it could of been a lot worse!
Unfortunately , it was the marshall standing on the road that put the second driver off in the first place, at least that was the conclusion that me and those around me at the time came to, The marshals failed to warn the Polo driver of the accident ahead. Both cars were back in the rally the next day!
Jaysus that was lucky no1 was killed...marshalls more worried about men inside cars with rollcages than spectators standing on road and in danger.......wtf
I designed that astra, sad to see it crash ='(
I hope everybody was ok =)

The driver of the Polo was Ken Treacy, the lotto winner from Carlow and he was pissed at the marshals

Well maybe you should address the points that are being made.
WHY WHERE THE ARROWS TURNED AFTERWARDS
WHY DID THE MARSHALLS NOT TRY TO SLOW THE ONCOMING CARS.
