He didn't say "" he said science. That SCOTUS doesn't think that science and Secular Humanism are the same thing is evidenced by the fact that science can be taught in public schools (because science is not a religion) while Secular Humanism can not (because it is a religion).

That's leaving aside the whole question of why it's OK for the SCOTUS to create a religion.

Your faith is in science. My faith is in God, the one Who created Science. Faith is pretty simple. Atheists make it way to complicated, I guess because they think too much and try to figure everything out. Nobody will figure everything out. Human beings have a limited knowledge. That's how God created us so we would walk by faith and trust in our Creator, instead of trusting in what we feel and see. To an unbeliever this doesn't make sense. But God uses the foolish things to confound the wise.

Science is our best effort to understand the world, and to give up on our best efforts to understand the world and simply say "God made it so" is not faith but lack of faith. It is fear of the unknown and abandonment of our responsibility to do try our best with our limited knowledge.

Why?

Faith is the confidence that something good will occur.

You do not have to be religious and count on a magical god to have faith.

You can also have faith due to reasonable understanding of how you can make the best of even the worst situations.

Faith is not something that only exists for the religious minded, and you may even claim that people tend to be religious minded because they LACK faith in their rational view of the world, and thus need to resort to a magical one.

It is prepostorous to say that as an evolutionist, evolution didn't allow for it.

Basically evolution is the art of adapting to nature by enhancing specific skills, which give you an edge over your competitors (my own definition).

It looks a bit like how the markets work.. if a sector is too specific companies can fall down hard, due to sudden changes in markets. A great example is the upcoming of the digital camera, which wiped out the old fashion dark room kind of cameras!

Adapting can go many ways. Both naturally or manually. It is all about surviving. If we would wipe out ourselves due to great advances in technology, which gives machines an edge over us..
