Reengineering our culture to fit an ideological/political mold seems to be the basis for our failing public school system.

But, I still have to disagree with the use of Wikipedia as a reliable source of information. It can be used to chop and revise history even more than textbooks. It can be used as a tool to slander and destroy the reputation of an otherwise upstanding citizen. It can be used to perpetrate lies and deceit and ambush the very intellect that we as a society would like to foster. Free thinking without the prop of MSM or political pundits is a by-gone virtue.

I understand your desire for high standards of balance, importance and accuracy in our school systems. I deeply resent the importance placed by teachers' unions on their skills. They are mostly glorified camp councilors. Personally I feel that the sciences and math are hard to fake. I wish I could go back in time and tell all of my school teachers that after reading, riting and rithmetic taught to the tune of a hickory stick, they were full of shit. I learned most of what I know on my own.
