For some, justifying discrimination based on the way its always been can be an easy fallback position. But remember, the way its always been hasnt always been quite right. In recent history, blacks were segregated; women couldnt vote; couples of different races couldnt marry. And then, there is also the issue of separation of church and state, meaning anyone can honor their religious beliefs and at the same time support equal civil rights for all Californians.
