He was just on because, they often have at least one of the regular panelist on theme shows (although usually, the celebs who fit the theme are in the outer 8 squares, with Paul Lynde or Wayland and Madame still in the center). However several years later, George did become appearing a regular on "Hee-Haw", though it has probably nothing to do with this episode.
