@BahmanG- Ray Manzarek. If it weren't for The Doors i would never have listened to this band. If it weren't for The Doors they wouldn't have existed ;) this is a great song.
@blainebill39 Did you wear all black--clothing and eyeliner? I remember that tour. The keyboardist from the Doors came on stage in the LA show and performed a couple of songs with them.
And for what it is worth, I had a crush on the bassist.
@BahmanG In truth "Echo" was probably the more romantically influenced of the bands we followed! We all seemed to be enamored of bands like Joy Division, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy and the like! I personally began to diverge from that scene when I started getting into 4AD bands like "The Cocteau Twins" and "Dead Can Dance". I find it interesting that what years later was coined "Goth" we had refered to simply as "Death" or "Dirge" rock! Great hearing from you! Cheers! Blaine
@blainebill39 I think our musical taste followed the same path. In 1987, I was a deeply closeted 14 year old. Almost saw the bunnymen at the universal amphitheatre. But my dad wouldnt give me a ride. And months later I saw love and rockets at that venure, which became my first concert. From love and rockets i began exploring bauhaus/tones and tail. Until one day, i saw Carolyn's Fingers on 120 minutes and my life has never been the same. The cocteaus are still my favorite group.
@blainebill39 (Continued) and through the cocteau I got into loads of other bands. Among these, Felt is my other favorite band. So far I have met robin, simon, but, alas, no Liz. Though I did shake her hand at the first leg of the Heaven or Las Vegas tour in Los Angeles. Are a Felt fan?
oh my gosh!!! Bunnymen, still in my top 10 gigs,Liverpool royal court `83 porcupine tour,I was 15...amazing!! These peel sessions totally capture the bunnymen spirit. Ocean Rain is a great album, but i remember being a tad disappointed when it was released after loving these peel sessions versions so much at the time...and i think "watch out below" should have stayed the same and been on the album. All good tho`. Thankyou for the upload rimmel65 ;-)
I remember taping this session at the time, in summer 83. They did only 3 songs: 'Killing Moon', 'Silver' & 'Seven Seas'. Subsequently, all 3 songs went on to be re-recorded for release as their next 3 singles. I can't think of any other instance where a band did this, on the back of a Peel session. The tape I had has long since gone - shame - as far as I'm aware, this session has never been released in full.
Thank you! i love this song!!!

I believe I last saw them at Zellerbach Hall in Berkeley California back in 1987.
As a young queer man , I had this pathetic crush on Ian McCulloch. I am amazed
to revisit all of their tracks and find how beautifully they hold up!
I find their music to have been incredibly inspired!

It was so great to see your response! It's as if I had been waiting
for you to show up! I knew that it was statistically impossible for
me to have been alone in this. Yes, many of my friends, both queer
(gay) and straight, wore lots of black, eyeliner and all.

This version is much more upbeat than the album version. I can't decide which one I like more, so I won't.
