  • SICK DUDE!

  • very good

  • YOU NEED MORE VIDEOS! :D

  • This is by far the BEST "Bonham-Tuned" Vistalite kit I have heard. Not to mention the Supraphonic snare sounding like 100% perfection. Acroman, please keep the vids coming. All the true drummers appreciate them.

  • @broskydosky Thank you very much broskydosky, Ya I need to think about putting more on here!

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video... You need the sheet music you are not playing that right,, sorry :(

  • Awesome!!!

My name is also Bruce McGregor haha

  • Awesome playing man! I thought I was the only person that played Bonham with left hand on the hi-hat and snare with the right. Love the kit!

  • I want that drum set so bad, I'll sell my soul If i have too!

  • Hey fuck the dildo that said don't quit your day job man, the kit and you brother sound great!!!!! John would be honored!

  • @troubleforu69 Thank you very much troubleforu, I really appreciate that!, Rock on!, Bruce

  • DONT QUIT YOUR DAY JOB!!!!!!!

  • @whokeithmoon Hundreds of encouraging comments acknowledging my hard work and dedication to my hero John Bohnham. Then a guy like you comes along with your immature snide criticism. I guess we can all assume that you feel the need to make it all about yourself, because your too insecure to show any appreciation to anybody's honest efforts!. Good luck in life!

  • @whokeithmoon 4 real!!

  • congratulation!!!:...... woooooooww.... sound bonham pefect.... GRaba mas videos.. slds desde chile!

  • @MegaTutin Hey Thank you Mega Tutin, Rock on man!

  • Wow, that snare is tasty! Great playing, BTW. What did you use to put Bonham's "three rings" logo on the front of the bass drum, or did it come like that?

  • Could you give me the rundown on your cymbal setup?

  • @Aspergian Sure, well in this video I'm using one18" Black label 2002 med crash, one 20" Black label 2002crash, one 20"red label 2002 med. crash, 15" Black label 2002 soundedge hihat. 22" black label 2002 med. ride. I''ve since added the 24" red label 2002 ride. Hope this helps!. Bruce

  • @acroman28 Thank you, Bruce. Hope I can see more YouTube videos of yours here in future.

  • @Aspergian Thank you too Aspergian, Rock on dude!

  • sounds wicked... check out my vids with an original lugwig anber vistalite kit.... doesn't sound as good as your, but still beautiful!

  • @cjparrott hanks, wicked is a good word...lol!, yes these drums are beautiful, I want to checkout your original set

  • Left Handed!Right Footed!

    Amazing...

  • If I was to listen to this video with my eyes closed then I would think its John Bonham playing. That is in terms of playing and drum sound. Your the only one ive seen on youtube to actualy pull the proper sound Bonham had out of these vistalites. Fantastic :)

  • @Jord121995 Hey Jord thank you so much man!, accually I take that same approach when tuning and mixing. Rock on!, Bruce

  • that's sounds GREAT! =D

  • Nice kit! Rail consolette and bass drum cymbal stand... That a Gibraltar Rail Consolette...?? Sits pretty high! Hercules Stands? Please top by my website - bonzobrosdrums com. Keep up the good work!

  • AWESOME! you got the snare drum perfect!

  • ok this is straight up bad ass

  • @mrozzy1231 Hey wow thanks mrozzy, I love this live version of the immigrant song

  • @acroman28 haha hell yahh man im 15 and i can watch that a million times before i wanna listen to new music haha'

  • @mrozzy1231 You Kickass mrozzy1231, Ya, I can listen to live Zeppelin all day long!. Keep rockin' my friend!

  • That fill at 41 seconds is unbelievable and the footwork starting at 2:02-- Nicely done my friend!

  • @DannySkidmore Well thank you so much Danny sorry it took me so long to reply, ya the fill at 41 seconds is just a triple down the toms, the foot work is just replicating the same pattern Bonzo played in this live version.

  • What kind of Paiste 2002 cymbals?

Do you use felt on your bass drums?

Does the snare 42 or 21 on the buttom?

    Thanks

  • Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE make more!

  • Fantastic sound and playing man... saw your other video and just watched this one.

Can I ask if your using any felt strips on the bass drum? I can't tell from this view, but the kick's boom sounds pretty well controlled!

I've been trying to find out more about Bonham's use of felt strips on his vitalite kit, seeing as people always mention he did use them live with this kit, but I can never see them in pictures!

    Cheers.

  • Oh and one last thing, have you had any problems with the shell mounted ride? Does the Ludwig mount cope with the 24" well? I have one in the post to be delivered and am just a little concerned about drilling and installing it, I'd hate to crack my bass drum haha.

Apologies for the bombardment of questions!

  • @uberpirox No I have not had any problems with the ride cymbal mount but that's only because I added bracing to keep it sturdy. In my opinion the ride cymbal mount doesn't cope well at all with the massive 24" Paiste 2002 ride, and I don't understand how bonzo seemed to get away with it. goodluck!. Rock on!, Bruce

  • @uberpirox Hey man thanks for the comments!, Yes indeed John used felt strips close to the bottom of the kick about 5", and he used the thick felt on both sides except for the vistalite which he used only one on the batter side, even though Ocletree say's he used them on both sides, if you watch the SRS there are several shots where you can clearly see he has a felt strip only on the batter, perhaps whatever the three rings were made out of served as muffling for the resonate side.

  • @luap1236 Thanks, yes I can see a Zeppelin tribute band coming on...Tee Hee!

  • @Curran9415 Thanks, but please don't kill me...lol!

  • That snare is EPIC - details?

  • @NouveauNick EPIC?

  • @dangerousdeadlydavid hey thanks dangerous, very cool. rock on!

  • sounds great....but thats not bonham

  • @derwoody1 No disrespect meant to your critisism, but I'll have to disagree with you my friend

  • @derwoody1

  • Nice Bruce!

  • @ParkerSwenson Thanks Thomas

  • Do you have felt strips on the front bass head ? Or just on the back.. Im trying to set my kit up ..

  • @bencantona You want felt strips on both sides, goodluck, rock on!, Bruce

  • Very nice job! This the best that I have seen of this! They sound great! Do you have a felt strip on the lower part of both bass drum heads? Also is your bass drum cranked up pretty tight where you can almost bounce the beater off the head(don't mean on this song but like for 16th note bass drum triplets)? Are you using a speed king? Was wondering how you were able to transcribe the note to note? Did you slow it down to hear everything or take out the all but the drums or just have good ears?

  • tight man very tight

  • @bigstones74 Thanks man. Rock it!, Bruce

  • you play left.,a la mike bordin, fnm.another force of nature.

  • amazing

  • Wow,fucking wow..brilliant,.what a beautiful loud kit..love it man...

  • @sticksbass Hey thanks!, I got the lights from my neighborhood music store for about $80.00

  • @sticksbass At Gutair center

  • @acroman28 Yep!

  • Awesome bro. Love the sound of that kit, great tuning, and you added a little of your own to that classic. Are you hitting a supraphonic snare? It's KILLER!!!

  • @dav3502 Thanks dav, ep a supraphonic foresure!.

  • great your tuning is amazing your a good drummer future youtube drummer right here may you have many veiws my friend lol....

  • @fattkattz55 So kind of you fattkattz, Thanks bro, rock on. Bruce

  • You need some kettle drums or tympanies to your left.

  • @jaytube2112 Lol oh yes Timpany!, and don't forget the Paiste 38" symphany gong!.

  • how do u tune ur snare drum it sounds just like Bonzo's

  • @losdrums try using a ambassador tom head on the bottom

  • killer

  • @1511zack Hey thanks man.....Rock on!!, Bruce

  • cool kit. what mic kit that you're using? are those Zildjians cymbals?

  • stunning sound!!

  • @madanimal101 Thanks!, Rock on!, Bruce

  • @madanimal101 Thank you felloe Rocker!

  • @madanimal101 Thank you

  • the kit definitely sounds bonhamish

  • Yes I too have the Bonham passion you speak of, Save you pennies and grab a Bonham kit. Rock on!, Bruce

  • i wish i had enough money to afford a reissue of this kit, i love bonham's drumming with a passion, its so intoxicating

  • Bravo!!

  • @bcancun123 Thank you!

  • Hey Major, thanks for the compliment. When you tune your 5 piece you might try tuning them is such a way that they sound great when you stand back and let a friend hit them, verses that they may sound bad when your right over them playing them yourself. Hope this helps. Bruce

  • dude, i wish my drums were tuned this nice. how would u tune one with a 22 inch bass 16 inch floor 12 and 13 rack tom and 14 inch snare

  • your drums are tuned perfectly.

  • @sinkinglamb1994 Hey Thanks!. Rock on!, Bruce

  • @acroman28 im getting the less expensive version of a bonham kit, the ludwig 5 piece epic pro beat, i hope i can get them to sound like this.

  • hey man this is a great tribute cover. what mics would you be using in this video?

  • @sharmuta666 Hey thanks man I used Senhiesser and sure mics on the kit. Thank again, Bruce

  • i need help getting that sound out of a standard drum set. (22 X 16, 16 X 16, 13 X 11, 12 X 10) i've tried going high on the tuning, but i think i go over and end up with a shit sound. i also have no resonant head on my bass drums... is it required for that big, round sound??

  • @ChroniclesOfSpring Hi Chronicles, Both heads intact is essential for the right sound your looking for, also when you pitch your toms way up they might sound bad when you right over them playing, but if you have someone hit them while you stand back 10 feet or more you might be surprized how great they sound all of a sudden. Rock on!, Bruce

  • Dude great version I have the same kit !!! killer!!

  • @ludwig12344321 Hey thanks Ludwig. Rock on man!, Bruce

  • @ludwig12344321 sure you do faggot

  • Thats kind of what I was wondering. Back then too in his neighborhood all those bands that became legend sort of paved their own roads.

Most of em had little backgrounds. Drummers I am talking about here.

  • Drum SHOP.... oops ;p()_

But seriously... Those Hydraulic Heads are really good for a guy like me who seemed to have mega trouble tuning a bit.

;p) Their big loud and they seem to have a nice rich dead thunderous tone!

  • Hi McGregor..How it going Bud? Today I changed out my Heads from the Remo Dots to the Evans Hydrualic Heads. I also had the drum shot order me some real Ludwig Wooden Hoops for the Bass Drum. This Plastic set is Ca ca. Your Drum set really sounds good guy!! Im impressed. Does any one here actually know who Bonham's Teacher was back in the day or how he learned as a kid or before Zepp?

  • He learned by himself, only occasionaly asking other drummers around his neighborhood some advice, though using every occasion to do so. But he basicaly learned independently.

  • The ole Vintage trick eh?....

Can you tell any difference in sound or weight from the modern day 402?

  • Hey Bruce:

What is your other Brass Ludwig Snare exactly mate? I have that Aluminum 402 and I got it sounding very nice. But what is the Exact Black Beauty model to look for other than a Pre 61 or 62. Realisticly speaking that is... ;p)

    What do you have...?

  • I have sold the Black beauty with a trade for another 402, but this one is vintage.

  • 26x14: Would you call the drum a one trick pony? Or will it sound clean with some double kick pedals? The reason I ask is because I have a 22" vistalite kick, and was thinking of building a 26x14 or maybe a 24x18. I am a little leery of the bigger kick response. (I do not play death metal, but some double kick stuff).

  • No t at all, the 26" is kickass and does it all, listen to my kick and decide for yourself. Rock on!, Bruce

  • what is the cymbal on the bass drum mount?

  • Hi 493 john, It was a 20", but resently a bought a 24" 2002 ride.

  • sounds great!

  • Thank you stickbass, Rock on!, Bruce

  • Hi rockeroftheband, the rack tom is the same pitch and tone as John Bonham tuned it, but thanks for your compliment on the rest of my kit. Rock on, Bruce

  • The tuning sounds great as well as the playing. What cymbal is on the high left? The cymbals sound nice too! Just wondering what kind and size they are?

  • Thanks Drumnut, Ya I use Paiste 2002's all around, the crash on the high left is a 20" med crash. Rock on, Bruce

  • nice shirt

  • JC Penny.....$3.98....lol!

  • Hey Bruce yes i did find one.I also sent you a PM.

  • I play with my ride cymbal pretty low. I know JHB played with it like you have yours, up high like a crash, All the cymbal rails for the kick mount seem to be one size and that is very long. would I need to modify that as well.....or maybe just suck it up and just raise the throne

  • Lol, no I think Bonzo played his pretty low as well everything in the most comfortable reach, never high in the air like for show. you sound like your doing it right, just stay comfortable.

  • Thanks for the reply, Bruce.

My name is Rob actually.....just couldn't think of witty name for you tube.

So you hammered it untill it was on the exact arc as the 26 incher. I'm bidding on a rail consolette on ebay. I often wondered how it would fit on such a big drum. I've seen them on smaller kits. One guy stated that one size fits all , which sounded like bull to me.

I also read the you should use a special drill bit made for plastic. Did you? I would die if i cracked the drum

  • Hey Rob, I think the one size concellet works fine for different size bass drums even though the arcs don't match for the bigger bass drums, but on wood it really doesn't matter, but I wanted a perfect fit for the more fragile vistalites. I just used a regular drill and was very ginger with it so's not to chip the plastic as the drill went through the other side.

  • Thanks yankeeredneck, Accualy I'm a righty but I play open instead of cross, I lead with my right, Bonzo led with his left. Roack on, Bruce

  • That is dead nuts brother. Your snare sounds perfect as does the rest of your kit. I have the same kit. Just one question... Are you a natural lefty?

  • What kind of ride do you play with on your left? That is a weird way to play but it obviously works for you..... No complaints here. One day I'll ask you about your recording equipment... Great job...

  • Fantastic playing. Great groove and feel.

Love the mounted tom and ride. I have the same kit, but with virgin bass. What special precautions did you use when drilling holes into bass for hardware ????

Kinda leary about cracking scratching etc...

  • Hey thanks scunt, Ya I was just very careful when drilling the holes for the rail concellet, and the ride cymbal mount. I also made sure I shaped the arc of the concelett, to match the arc of the 26' kick drum by slowly hammering it flat enough to match so the stresses would be equally distributed. Had no problems thus far. Thanks, rock on, Bruce

  • Burce. watching your vidio i got fired up again about getting that set.I found one on e-bay it got here a couple of days ago and its in almost new condition.I'm having

trouble finding a -clear 26in reso head for the base drum, hopeing you can tell me where to find one. Looking foward to to your next vidio.

  • Hey lynsuefa, did you have any luck finding the 26" remo clear Ambassador?

  • Bruce, where did you get the parts and did you install them or have it done.

Thanks for all the good info.

  • Hi Lynsuefa, I ordered the parts from my local music store, and installed them myself...carefully!.

  • Hi Lynsuefa, No my bass drum came as a virgin. I added the rail conselett, and the Ride cymbal mount. hope this helps. Rock n roll, Bruce

  • Hey Burce, I wanted to know if your kit came with a base drum mount for your 14in tom and and bracket for L-arm cymbal holder or did you add them. Having to use fewer stands is a plus.

  • thanks man. also, what snare side head do you use?

  • Hi Bonham fan, I use an ambassador on the bottom, pitch it way up, and pitch up the batter head but not too much where you lose the dynamic sound between the top head, and the bottom. thx, Bruce

  • thank you so much man, you helped me out a lot!

  • Hey bonham fan you are very welcome.. are you getting that Bonzo sound out of your snare?

  • i think i finally am! thanks

  • Hi bonhamfan, Thanks for your approval on my Bonham tuning. for me it's been alot of trail and error. but I think listening and studying the dynamics of Led zeppelin's dvd's and the Jeff Ocletree video really helped me. I use Remo emperor on the Batter side, and Jeff say's he used a diplomat or ambassador on the bottom, but I'm not sure that's correct. let me know if this helped. rock on, Bruce

  • also, what heads to you use on the snare?

  • what is your secret to getting that perfect bonham snare sound?

  • Hey Lynsuefa, Yes it's an lm402 6.5x14 suprafonic, and I've spent time and care to get the Bonham sound on the snare and the rest of the drums. Yes I agree Joe drums might be proud, as I feel my atempts on the Bonham sound are alot closer than his...no disrespect to Joe drums.

  • Bruce, don't know if you useing the ludwig Lm402 6.5x14 but your snare is tuned as close to Bonham's as i'v ever heard.

    Joe Drums would be proud.

  • Bruce, great job- there are some pretty tough licks and trickey timming in that live version and you nailed it just about perfect,

    Keep up the great work.

  • Hey thanks lynsuefa, rock on bud!

  • you are absolutely amazing!

  • Hey right on Aviation94!, thanks so much for the compliment!...Rock on!

  • Hey thanks, I got them at Guitair center. the light react to sound.

  • Hey cool lights, where did you get them and how did you get them to triggered? By the way solid playing.
