I've known Ben since he was young......yes people......HE IS AMAZING!!!!!!! Also, his music partner and my son.......Josh Reid! Not only are they super talented, but, the best guys and 'Southern Gentlemen' ever! Ok, so I am mom.....Mothers know best~
HOLY CRAP! I'm blown away! I love frampton's talkbox version of the song but on an electric violin it just sounds amazing! There's just something about a talkbox and electric violin which makes a freakishly awesome combo.

Wow!! Awesome playing!! I'm looking at getting an electric violin, and wanted to know if you have had any suggestions of brand. My price range is anywhere up to 2,000 or so, and I really would like to get a nice one :-). I looked at the Zeta Boyd Tinsley signature, but otherwise am really looking for suggestions!! I checked out Jensen and Jordans as you mentioned to the other poster, but I wanted to see what else you had known of.
Thanks GMAN! Just a few thoughts for you . . . I can't talk much about other brands, being that I only own a ZETA BTS (Boyd Tinsley Signature) and a Jordan (seven-string). I've had great luck with both instruments - they are well built and reliable, and are capable of producing a wide variety of sounds. I would be weary, though, of those cheap knock-offs you see on eBay going for ~$300 and under . . .
(continued) The quality of the instrument if directly related to the quality of its components. Also, keep in mind that you will need a number of high-quality analog pedals (compressor, tone boost, delay, chorus, etc.) as well as a good amplifier (I use a Mesa Boogie Lone Star Special) to create great sounds, ie, the violin itself is only a piece of the puzzle.
hey I'm looking at getting electric violins too, Zeta used to be my first love until I saw other incredible designs like the NS WAV, Stingray and Violectra. How do you like yours? =D
Hey! I really like my ZETA. It is a well built instrument and it sits well on the shoulder, though it is a bit heavy. As you know, ZETAs use active pickups (battery-operated), but I also have a Jordan that uses passive pick-ups, which I think are so much warmer and lend better to being adapted by effects pedals. Check out Jordan violins and Jensen violins before you buy one. Don't worry about the look of the instrument, just make sure you love its sound through the amplifier!
@thereedsband thanks for the advice! Definitely like the idea of a passive pickup system, no batteries required. You play really well, forgot to mention that! =)
hm...very interesting. I will say that it's not quite what i interpreted for this song on the violin, but i'm pretty sure i'm going to be using this as a guideline for perfecting the technique. still, talkbox and violin, dude! My DREAM!
Hey Everyone, thanks for watching my video! I really appreciate your comments and would like your suggestions as to what my next song should be . . . post your ideas!
I saved this one, Hope Peter see's this someday...Thanks
