4. It's safe to assume that this is the day when they become friends. If they caught the bus, perhaps they hadn't become as good friends? Now Jarle did catch the bus, but he is alone. He has no girlfriend, no best friend, no band. Though he did kiss Yngve.
3. You probably remember the opening scene where they were at a class trip and Yngve and Helge decide to go home? Well, they have to take the train which never seems to get there. Then they see Katrine, who says that they have to take the bus. Then they tries to catch it, but aren't fast enough.
2. The last scene with Yngve and Jarle at the mental hospital is, in the book, 30 years later, but , in the film, perhaps a couple of days after the bar fight. The last sentence in the book is something like "And then I kissed Yngve." So it's an open ending and it's up to us to imagine what happens next. As for the thing about Helge, Jarle and Katrine running after the bus, this is the day they met (or at least took notice of each other).
1. In the book, Yngve has schizophrenia (which Jarle isn't aware of until 13 years later when his mom bumped into Yngve's mom) and has a relapse after the incident at the party. The following days Jarle tries to call him but no one answers the phone. He then goes to Yngve's house which turns out to be completely empty (they have moved back to Haugesund where Yngve is hospitalized).
If it's any consellation to the non norwegian speakers, I'm norwegian and I didn't understand the ending at all! I didn't understand if Y was ill or if he was injured after he jumped of the bridge, or if he was mentally unstable. Or if he was slightly retarded, he did keep saying the same things over and over again. I just didn't get it at all!
Redheads Rule YAY! He was so cute, & a good actor too:) I have never seen a movie where the gorgeous aurburn haired guy was the lead. We are highly discriminated against! Good movie I caught words here & there, but yes I agree-there wasn't near~ enough love scene with the blond guy & Jarle. Cute movie anyway-thankx
I thought he imagined the whole thing, and it was him living in the asylum (or whatever the building was) and now that he left it, he left behind his imaginary friend and girlfriend.
I loved this movie even though I didn't understand a word anyone said (except mom and no). But I think it's a shame redhead and blondie didn't end up together and do a hot sex scene at the end! Oh well, I'll just use my imagination. :) But I felt bad for the girl too ... I just don't get what happened. And who was the brunette guy with a bad temper? At first I thought he was redhead's girlfriend's brother ... man, I'm just confused.
@xtacee1990 No, it's just a way of showing that Jarle (the redhead) leaves his friend and girlfriend and all that they had together behind. That's how I see it, anyway.

@xtacee1990 Yngve and Jarle? That's left pretty open in the film. They're not in the book the film's based on.
