Can anyone tell me at what age it is appropriate to work the dog like this....I understand they grow slowly and it is important to make sure their bodies have developed to the task at hand...thanks
This dog was born on May 18, 2006. During the filming of this video the dog is 18 months old.
By 12 months only play. Then gradually begin training with cycling with increasing distance from 1 to 10 km. The dog should be continuously monitored and at the first signs of fatigue training stops. Do not train when it's warm and sunny. During this clip the temperature is around 10 degrees Celsius. Distance is 3km.
Yes, car is lazy options, but some times there are no other options and the dog still must be trained. I don't like thick and greasy dogs, that can't run and jump, just eating and barking.
People are morons. The dog will not think you are leaving it if you train it to run by a car. Plus it will learn not to run in front of a car so will become more car smart/less likely to be hit by a car. It will have better trust as it will know you are not trying to leave it. Some people must not own dogs...
Listen people. Russian terriers need to run. They need to run fast. The more the better. This way they develop their legs. Yes, I agree a bike might be a better option, but a car is not a bad option either! Especially if the owner of a BRT has knee problems and hence cannot run or cycle!!! So, there you go, "morons" and "lazy idiots"! BRTs are the best dogs EVER!!!

I am looking into the possibility of getting a BRT -- this video shows that they move much better than I realized...a real endurance runner!!

Well, at least you had the effort of trimming the dog so it doesn't overheat.
Car is still a lazy option. I run in the deep snow with my russian terrier and there's a real exercise.
