What metters is not the processor, it is the graphics card. Wii still using a lower hz on their processor, because Wii don't need to run other programs, like Windows bullshit and ant-virus, it's just the god damn game.
Interesting. I wouldnt expect the Wii to be capable of such a powerful shader. Seems like we're getting an engine that can really make something out of the Wii's hardware.
The Wii doesn't use a pixel shader. The Xbox uses a standard shader modal. The Wii uses a TEV that lets you make custom shaders without the restrictions of a shader modal. TEV is more capable but takes longer and cost more to use and program so most developers don't use it.
That last statement says it all.
Whether or not you think a game looks better is a matter of design preference, not system capability.
You could produce NG on the Wii with ease but not Other M on the Xbox.

Are you kidding me lol,the xbox 360 is in second place for selling. The ds has the lead then wii then xbox 360 you dumbass, And in japan and many places the xbox 360 is starting to sell more than the wii in that country like europe, japan and china. The xbox 360 will have the lead in the middle of 2009.

ediot? By the way The Conduit has the same graphics as Halo 3. Delete Xbox 360 live accounts, thay's stupit. That's like saying Wii doesn't have DVD but you can mod that if you want, we don't talk about cheating we talk about the console right of the box.
excuse me, I did not steal his video I just barrow it for a bit prove wii true power from very talented developers. I was going to put it in favorites in few days, but sense you mention it I went head and did it anyway.
Doesn't inspire confidence in them when developers, after seeing the Quantum3 demo or Conduit footage turn to High Voltage and ask "So is this all running on a Wii?"
In regards to this, it looks similar to any day/night cycle in Zelda:Twilight Princess I wish I could see more of what they were doing.
people listin PS2 can hold 65,000,000 polygons per second, xbox 160,000,000 polygons per second, Wii freakin 500,000,000 polygons per second. yeah also check Power PC something that PS2 and xbox(original) didn't use last generation.
That Wii polygon number is impressive. If characters can have 7x the detail in Wii games, it is a wonder as to how 3rd parties haven't proved that yet.
HVS has proved that with the Conduit. An FPS for the Wii they were 3the first third party to put effort into wii and make a game that looks almost as good as top-notch 360 games.
The fate's of Square and Rare are two completely separate things. Square preferred the PSX's disc format over cartridge. You can bet if Nintendo stuck with Sony and didn't leave em in the cold: 1) The Final Fantasy franchise would've been continued on a Ninty console and 2) The Playstation would've never been born. With Rare, some of the key members of the group left to create Free Radical, prompting the selling of the company to MS, since Ninty knew Rare wasn't nearly the same as they were.
They could only do so many with effects turned on, gamecube could manage 25 million pps, PS2 20 million and Xbox 15 million pps but the Xbox had superior shaders to the PS2 though Gamecube is left to be determined no thanks to PS2 ports, there was a definite quality gap between it's first party exclusives and it's third party games.
Wii may be capable of producing 100 million pps with the effects turned on, the 360 can do 120 million, Factor 5 says it can pull of shaders we see in 360 games too
Guys dont give him thumbs down. Why would you do that. His comment only proves that the Wii can handle good graphics. Why thumb him down? He actually complimented the Wii. i'll give you a thumbs up
Actually it's not impossible. The PS2, when given the right input, gave some extremely pretty titles like God of War, Jak and Daxter, and Shadow Colossus. The Wii is practically on par with Xbox, which was superior to the PS2 in every way. Plus, since developers have stated that developing for Wii is fairly simple, it only makes sense that some of them can get around a couple " limitations "
actually i looked it up the is 2-3 times more powerfull than the original xbox its just that game developers get sooooooo lazy so we dont really see games that go further than the gamecube's graphics
It is above the Xbox. It just uses ATI which is harder for 3rd parties to work with. i mean, Just look at The Conduit. A wii FPS with graphics that Xbox couldn't even handle. Infact it looks on par with a regular 360 game with 8 months of development left.
Yeah, but i dunno why people say it looks worse than black, either they are blind or ignorant, i mean some environments look ps2ish, but the game isn't even done yet, and the quantum engine is very young, it still has time to be optimized and improved, the engine that burnout had was well done over time and black used that same engine. Over time we will see the quantum engine become so great the games will be on par w/ xbox 360. Hardware has many exploits, might as well use them to our advantage
Finally, SOMEONE who actually UNDERSTANDS. Well atleast I have COD:WAW for Wii. I own a PS3 and got the game for that as wel. i mean the graphics turn you on sure. But after playing a good FPS on Wii the PS3 controls definitely turn you off. And BTW those of youwho thing the environements look PS2ish. Guess what I used to think the same way until I saw the game myslf at PAX. The environments could use a little bit of work but seeing it upclose is a whole different story. Don't make my mistakes.
@nooblet911 You got that in reverse. The Xbox couldn't run Mario Galaxy ever, even if you cut the framerate down to 30 FPS from 60 FPS.
Highest "real" polygon count:
PS2: 1O mil ever in a real game.
Xbox: 12 mil ever in a real game at 30 FPS
Gamecube: 20 mil in a real game at 60 FPS with all special effects on as well.
That game was made by the people who made the engine we are looking at. They were one of the few who actually put effort into games on Nintendo systems.
that's debatable. while I agree that mario galaxy looks above gamecube quality (if not terribly much), I also think conker: live & reloaded (bad fur day n64 remake) on the xbox looks really good too. besides, mario galaxy looks so good because they didn't use any anti-alliasing.
@nooblet911 Starfox Adventures looked better than Conker. It has more detailed environments and better fur rendering and that was a Gamecube game. It also had better shading effects and more dynamic lighting.
/watch?v=fCEon7_Ndxg
What a console can and can not do are a matter of fact. You can produce everything from the Xbox on the Wii hardware but no where close the other way around.
You are confusing design with capability. Xbox games look good because of effort. Few put effort in the Wii.
xbox has a gpu based on the geforce 3 while gamecube has a gpu based on radeon 7200. radeon 7200 was not shabby and the gc gpu is clearly better than the gpu in ps2, but it's not quite up to geforce 3 in xbox. and wii is just a overclocked gamecube with some more ram, so it's basically the same thing as gc just with some extra power. the wii doesn't exceed the xbox's capabilites by any means by a large margin.
@nooblet911 That is entirly false. ATI has nothing to do with the gamecube GPU and it was based on nothing that they made. ATI bought the company that made it but that was only after it had been made. Whatever source you got that from lied.
What the Xbox GPU was based on means absolutely nothing. It is what is regardless of what it was based on.
What it could do is what it could do and what it couldn't it couldn't.
nintendo officially stated that the graphics chip in gamecube had a lot in common with the radeon 8500, except it didn't have fully programmable pixel shaders and truform like the latter. so it was more like the low end radeon 7200.
@nooblet911 No it isn't. Can you read? The Radeon is an ATI chip and the Gamecube's GPU was not made by ATI, it was made by ArtX who were acquired by ATI in later years after the GPU for the Gamecube was made.
I've have read a lot on the Gamecube and I have never seen Nintendo make any comparison to a Radeon. I get the feeling that you are making this up as well.
artx were acquired by ati shortly after they developed the gc gpu and their tech was used in the following ati gpus. the gpu in gc was manufactured by ati. the gc gpu reminds a lot on the radeon r100, feature wise.
the gc cpu was compared to radeon 8500 by some journalists and gamers alike.
@nooblet911 The processor in the Wii is more than 3 times stronger as RandyWells89 pointed out. PowerPC processors get 3 times the performance Intel processors on average at a lower clock speed in all tests. The GPU is definitely at least twice as strong. I can/'t really say if its 3 times as strong or not.
The Wii also has a larger amount of RAM that is way faster as well.
that means close to nothing. the graphics on the wii look by no means three times better than xbox. also wii has a bit more ram than xbox, not a large amount. you're exaggerating wii specs and you keep doing that for some reason (wii fanboy?).
@nooblet911 Yes they do. You don't know what you are looking at so you wouldn't be able to tell.
Its just like with people who liked the look of PS1 games more than the N64. That is design preference, not graphical capability and what you are looking at aren't the graphics of the Wii, you are looking at the graphics of the games.
The game do not make themselves. They only look as good as the effort put into them and most Wii developers put in no effort.
n64 was stronger than ps1 and sega saturn combined, but didn't reach full potential due to hardware bottlenecks like tight carts and small memory cache.
the wii is a "gamecube turbo" so to speak. the graphics in wii games like super mario galaxy 2 and metroid other m are pretty much the best wii can do. it doesn't have any "secret potential" or anything like that.
@nooblet911 The Wii's GPU is it not an Overclocked GC GPU and has never been. It is simply based on the design of the GC GPU for backwards compatibility. It like the Geforce 8200 and the Geforce 8800. They use the same architecture but are completely different.
The Wii has over twice the performance of the Gameucbe. Clock speeds don't mean anywhere near as much as they did in 2001. The technology in the Wii was designed to get high performance with a lower cost.. The Wii does HDR. Xbox doesn't.
so it may not be exactly a overclocked gc gpu, but it's still derived from the gc gpu. same with the gpu. it's not totaly new architecture and whatnot. it's like PowerPC 733 compared to PowerPC 500 or radeon 7500 compared to radeon 7200.
where did you hear wii does hdr?
I've heard wii probably couldn't run doom 3 as good as xbox could.
@nooblet911 The Wii has done HDR is 3 games. If you don't even know this then you don't know anything about what you are talking about.
Where did you hear that the Wii coudln't run Doom 3, because its creater said that the Gamecube could run it power wise but it didn't have enough memory.
The Wii has more memory than the Xbox as well as more horsepower and shader capability with its upgraded TEV..
@nooblet911 No it doesn't. I don't know where you got that from but it is the exact same game except for the mirroring. The graphics are 100% the same ones with no changes at all.
@nooblet911 I played the game myself. Also, that is one game. How the hell does one game (as release game that was a port no less) speak for the system as a whole?
Also, bloom is a special effect that was just as present in the Gamecube version as they were the same game. The actual graphics (textures, polygons, color pallete, drawing) were 100% the same ones.
Though once again . Why does this matter? That game was not made for the Wii. Skyward Sword is the first Zelda game for the Wii alone.
@nooblet911 You mean rogue leader. It hads way better graphics and better performance than Rebel Strike and no, the Wii can do so much better than that.
1.5 times the clockspeed on a smaller die + 3 times the transistors + twice the pipelines. The Wii's GPU has over twice the performance capability of the Gamecube and the console has over 3 times as much "functional" RAM with a lower latency as well as WAY more storage capacity.
I still doubt we will see much better looking games than mario galaxy 2 on the wii. and mario galaxy 2 looks a lot like the first one in the first place.
if games are not representative of the graphics capabilities, then what is? tech demos?
I don't think it really matters at this point since companies that pushed nintendo consoles to their limits like rare and factor 5 are now either defunct or went to competing companies while nintendo don't care for graphics that much (see skyward sword).
@nooblet911 You jumped from one point to another while talking like they are the same. You're comparing the games, not the system.
As I have said more than once. What you think looks better of not is a matter of design choice, opinion. A game does not determine what the system can do, the system determines what the game can do.
You may not like the design of Skyward Sword but I guarantee you the Xbox couldn't run it.
You apparently don't even know how to discern the graphics technically.
I doubt skyward sword wouldn't run on the xbox. it's not like it has terribly advanced effects and ultra-detailed textures or anything. infact it looks a little sparse compared to ninja gaiden black on the xbox, regardless of the graphics style.
and you're arguing with me for no reason. wii is a upgraded gamecube, get over it.
@nooblet911 Wii superior to the xbox and so was the GC in areas, get over it.
The detail in that ever individual instance in Skyward Sword too high for the Xbox. It couldn't push that many polygons on screen at once in a functioning game for anything on earth.
The special effects in the Xbox were built in. In other words, it could do only specific affects to a certain amount. It has nothing to do with system strength.
The Conduit would be impossible on the Xbox because of all of the EMBM.
and xbox had a fair share of spectacular shooters like doom 3, far cry instincts and chronicles of riddick and ebmb is nothing it can't do. it's safer to say that all the normal mapping in doom 3 would be too much for the wii.
@nooblet911 Doom 3 on the Xbox was no where near spectacular. The Doom 3 Xbox version was horribly downgraded with a lot of content removed and horrile fframe stutter that rarely reached even 30 FPS and the creator said that memory was the only reason the Gamecube couldn't run it. Something the Wii has more of than the Xbox.
The Wii has the same Far Cry except its a lazy unoptimized port.
@nooblet911 Of course it does. It was a release game that was not optimized for the system in anyway. Just like Fireblade for the Gamecube. Why even compare them? Their is not quesiton that the game was bad as it had no effort put into it.
Your comparing a game that was made with effort towards the end of one consoles life span by people who knew how to use the system to a quick port on a new console that no one knew how to program properly yet.
@Tkscz Of course. I sent him a picture of the PC version of Doom3 compared to the Xbox versision in the exact same spot to show how horribly downgraded the Xbox version was while still not keeping 30 FPS but he just ignored it.
Every port of a PC game to the Xbox was horribly downgraded.
The Wii may not be HD but its miles ahead of any last gen system. We just need someone to actually use it since Factor 5 doesn't seem to be continuing any of its American games. Check out FAST Racing League
@nooblet911 Crazy shit. I find it very erry they default graphic asset in most Wii games look like Team Fotress. I'm not sure about HL2. But Portal and TF2 can make a perfect port for the Wii. Since you probably don't know The Wii can do portals with no problem.
@nooblet911 Let me ask you this before anything. Do you have any idea how the tech inside of consoles work? That's all I want to know. If you do then you shouldn't be making this argument, if you don't then I have a lot to explain to you.
I'm not a tech expert but I do know that xbox is based on the geforce 3 gpu, pentium 3 (or celeron) cpu and has 64 megs of ram while wii is based on the gamecube gpu (comparable to radeon 7200?), gamecube cpu (power pc) and has about 88 megs of total ram.
@nooblet911 The thing is the Gamecube's CPU as much stronger than the xbox's as everyone knew PowerPC basically stomped both AMD and Intel of the time. Hell the 360's tri-core is a PowerPC. So there is no doubt that Wii's CPU is far beyond the xbox's. GPU wise the two were pretty equal with the XB having some advantages over the GC, like having a shader model rather than custom shaders. The Wii however has double that of the GC along with it's GPU having it's own CPU and the TEV having 16 PLs
yeah, that's believable. however some xbox games still look very close, if not better, than wii games. see dead or alive 3, panzer dargoon orta and so on for proof.
@nooblet911 That statement provies it. WHehter or not you think a game looks good is all a matter of preference in design, not tech. You know absolutely nothing about tech so you wouldn't know that. Go someplace else with some fellow fanboys, and romanticize and dream about your preferred last gen system outperforming the Wii.
@nooblet911 Again the reason for this is that the xbox support shader model 2. This made making shading, lighting, mapping, and detailing much easier and cost effective. The Wii however was like the game cube, it needs it's shaders to be custom made with coding by scratch. That cost more than what developers are willing to spend on the Wii and they're rather make games with no detail, than take their time and use some money to make it look better.
@Tkscz Your wasting your time. He doesn't want to understand and refuses to see systems he liked being outperformed by a Nintendo system in anything.
For him, how powerful a system is is based on whether or not he likes the games on the system or whether he thinks the games on the system look good to him.
He wants to believe that the Wii is weak and no amount of explaining will convincing him otherwise.
Now this is a good looking game. ds-x2(.) com/images/reviews/fastracingwiiware/2.jpg
@nooblet911 No you aren't. You don't know a damn thing about tech. Everything youve said shows it because it was all horribly wrong and sound like nothing but a big headed fanboys presumptions and desires.
@nooblet911 The Wii doesn't use a pixel shader.

@RandyWells89 You really eantertained me, nintendo console with good graphic. Xbox prcessor = 3.2 GHz , wii processor = 729 MHz isn't it quite difference. You are telling bollocks here.
I believe it is real. People dont even know what they are talking about! Factor 5 is a great company, and are very well known by making gorgeous games (graphically) on Gamecube, such as the Star WARS SERIES ETC..(GOOGLE it!) Even though i heard rumors that Lair such on PS3 etc... but Factor 5 understands how to use the Wii, for some of the Wii architecture is build off of gamecube hardware.
Just like High Volatge software and their game called the Conduit. Amazign graphics 16 player online, lan support, Wiispeak, Wi motion+ and people mistook the game for a 360 version until they saw the cursor move areound the screen instead of just standing in the middle.

RandyWells89 3 years ago 2
That Wii polygon number is impressive. If characters can have 7x the detail in Wii games, it is a wonder as to how 3rd parties haven't proved that yet.
Poor Factor 5. PS3 killed them.
TCrusada 3 years ago
HVS has proved that with the Conduit. An FPS for the Wii they were 3the first third party to put effort into wii and make a game that looks almost as good as top-notch 360 games.

fannboygh 2 years ago 3
The fate's of Square and Rare are two completely separate things. Square preferred the PSX's disc format over cartridge. You can bet if Nintendo stuck with Sony and didn't leave em in the cold: 1) The Final Fantasy franchise would've been continued on a Ninty console and 2) The Playstation would've never been born. With Rare, some of the key members of the group left to create Free Radical, prompting the selling of the company to MS, since Ninty knew Rare wasn't nearly the same as they were.
DeadOmega 2 years ago
They could only do so many with effects turned on, gamecube could manage 25 million pps, PS2 20 million and Xbox 15 million pps but the Xbox had superior shaders to the PS2 though Gamecube is left to be determined no thanks to PS2 ports, there was a definite quality gap between it's first party exclusives and it's third party games.
Wii may be capable of producing 100 million pps with the effects turned on, the 360 can do 120 million, Factor 5 says it can pull of shaders we see in 360 games too

regulator619 3 years ago 3
Actually it's not impossible. The PS2, when given the right input, gave some extremely pretty titles like God of War, Jak and Daxter, and Shadow Colossus. The Wii is practically on par with Xbox, which was superior to the PS2 in every way. Plus, since developers have stated that developing for Wii is fairly simple, it only makes sense that some of them can get around a couple " limitations "
dbgtlegend 3 years ago
actually i looked it up the is 2-3 times more powerfull than the original xbox its just that game developers get sooooooo lazy so we dont really see games that go further than the gamecube's graphics
oldsnake8592 3 years ago
It is above the Xbox. It just uses ATI which is harder for 3rd parties to work with. i mean, Just look at The Conduit. A wii FPS with graphics that Xbox couldn't even handle. Infact it looks on par with a regular 360 game with 8 months of development left.
regulator619 3 years ago 3
Yeah, but i dunno why people say it looks worse than black, either they are blind or ignorant, i mean some environments look ps2ish, but the game isn't even done yet, and the quantum engine is very young, it still has time to be optimized and improved, the engine that burnout had was well done over time and black used that same engine. Over time we will see the quantum engine become so great the games will be on par w/ xbox 360. Hardware has many exploits, might as well use them to our advantage
WhiteWingedKnight 3 years ago
Finally, SOMEONE who actually UNDERSTANDS. Well atleast I have COD:WAW for Wii. I own a PS3 and got the game for that as wel. i mean the graphics turn you on sure. But after playing a good FPS on Wii the PS3 controls definitely turn you off. And BTW those of youwho thing the environements look PS2ish. Guess what I used to think the same way until I saw the game myslf at PAX. The environments could use a little bit of work but seeing it upclose is a whole different story. Don't make my mistakes.
regulator619 3 years ago
yeah it is above Xbox, and poeple fell to realize that xbox use Intel pentium 3 where the Wii use the PowerPC series.
PowerPC is 3X more powerful than the pentium 3
RandyWells89 3 years ago 20
Precisely
UltimaStrife19 2 years ago
that's just theory. I haven't yet seen a wii game that wouldn't run on the xbox, but I have seen xbox games that probably wouldn't run on the wii.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 You got that in reverse. The Xbox couldn't run Mario Galaxy ever, even if you cut the framerate down to 30 FPS from 60 FPS.
Highest "real" polygon count:
PS2: 1O mil ever in a real game.
Xbox: 12 mil ever in a real game at 30 FPS
Gamecube: 20 mil in a real game at 60 FPS with all special effects on as well.
That game was made by the people who made the engine we are looking at. They were one of the few who actually put effort into games on Nintendo systems.
krizzex 1 year ago
that's debatable. while I agree that mario galaxy looks above gamecube quality (if not terribly much), I also think conker: live & reloaded (bad fur day n64 remake) on the xbox looks really good too. besides, mario galaxy looks so good because they didn't use any anti-alliasing.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 Starfox Adventures looked better than Conker. It has more detailed environments and better fur rendering and that was a Gamecube game. It also had better shading effects and more dynamic lighting.
/watch?v=fCEon7_Ndxg
What a console can and can not do are a matter of fact. You can produce everything from the Xbox on the Wii hardware but no where close the other way around.
You are confusing design with capability. Xbox games look good because of effort. Few put effort in the Wii.
krizzex 1 year ago
xbox has a gpu based on the geforce 3 while gamecube has a gpu based on radeon 7200. radeon 7200 was not shabby and the gc gpu is clearly better than the gpu in ps2, but it's not quite up to geforce 3 in xbox. and wii is just a overclocked gamecube with some more ram, so it's basically the same thing as gc just with some extra power. the wii doesn't exceed the xbox's capabilites by any means by a large margin.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 That is entirly false. ATI has nothing to do with the gamecube GPU and it was based on nothing that they made. ATI bought the company that made it but that was only after it had been made. Whatever source you got that from lied.
What the Xbox GPU was based on means absolutely nothing. It is what is regardless of what it was based on.
What it could do is what it could do and what it couldn't it couldn't.
krizzex 1 year ago
nintendo officially stated that the graphics chip in gamecube had a lot in common with the radeon 8500, except it didn't have fully programmable pixel shaders and truform like the latter. so it was more like the low end radeon 7200.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 No it isn't. Can you read? The Radeon is an ATI chip and the Gamecube's GPU was not made by ATI, it was made by ArtX who were acquired by ATI in later years after the GPU for the Gamecube was made.
I've have read a lot on the Gamecube and I have never seen Nintendo make any comparison to a Radeon. I get the feeling that you are making this up as well.
krizzex 1 year ago
artx were acquired by ati shortly after they developed the gc gpu and their tech was used in the following ati gpus. the gpu in gc was manufactured by ati. the gc gpu reminds a lot on the radeon r100, feature wise.
the gc cpu was compared to radeon 8500 by some journalists and gamers alike.
nooblet911 1 year ago
I mean gpu*
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 What is that supposed to mean? They compared it? You can compare anything to anything. It is what it is.
I've expained the fact to you and you still persist. If you "want to believe" that is is stronger then go ahead.
Talking to you is going to go nowhere. Hell, the video we're posting on shows the Wii doing more than the Xbox could.
The only thing the Xbox had that the Wii can't do better is FSAA which was built into the Xbox GPU. The Wii is physically more powerful.
krizzex 1 year ago
I didn't say xbox is stronger than wii, I just said that the wii is by no means three times stronger than xbox.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 The processor in the Wii is more than 3 times stronger as RandyWells89 pointed out. PowerPC processors get 3 times the performance Intel processors on average at a lower clock speed in all tests. The GPU is definitely at least twice as strong. I can/'t really say if its 3 times as strong or not.
The Wii also has a larger amount of RAM that is way faster as well.
krizzex 1 year ago
that means close to nothing. the graphics on the wii look by no means three times better than xbox. also wii has a bit more ram than xbox, not a large amount. you're exaggerating wii specs and you keep doing that for some reason (wii fanboy?).
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 Yes they do. You don't know what you are looking at so you wouldn't be able to tell.
Its just like with people who liked the look of PS1 games more than the N64. That is design preference, not graphical capability and what you are looking at aren't the graphics of the Wii, you are looking at the graphics of the games.
The game do not make themselves. They only look as good as the effort put into them and most Wii developers put in no effort.
The Wii has the specs. No one uses them.
krizzex 1 year ago
n64 was stronger than ps1 and sega saturn combined, but didn't reach full potential due to hardware bottlenecks like tight carts and small memory cache.
the wii is a "gamecube turbo" so to speak. the graphics in wii games like super mario galaxy 2 and metroid other m are pretty much the best wii can do. it doesn't have any "secret potential" or anything like that.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 The Wii's GPU is it not an Overclocked GC GPU and has never been. It is simply based on the design of the GC GPU for backwards compatibility. It like the Geforce 8200 and the Geforce 8800. They use the same architecture but are completely different.
The Wii has over twice the performance of the Gameucbe. Clock speeds don't mean anywhere near as much as they did in 2001. The technology in the Wii was designed to get high performance with a lower cost.. The Wii does HDR. Xbox doesn't.
krizzex 1 year ago
so it may not be exactly a overclocked gc gpu, but it's still derived from the gc gpu. same with the gpu. it's not totaly new architecture and whatnot. it's like PowerPC 733 compared to PowerPC 500 or radeon 7500 compared to radeon 7200.
where did you hear wii does hdr?
I've heard wii probably couldn't run doom 3 as good as xbox could.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 The Wii has done HDR is 3 games. If you don't even know this then you don't know anything about what you are talking about.
Where did you hear that the Wii coudln't run Doom 3, because its creater said that the Gamecube could run it power wise but it didn't have enough memory.
The Wii has more memory than the Xbox as well as more horsepower and shader capability with its upgraded TEV..
krizzex 1 year ago
how should I know it can do hdr? all I have seen is some excessive bloom in zelda twilight princess.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 Twilight princess was a straight Gamecube game. The Wii version was a just a port. Nothing about it had been altered.
krizzex 1 year ago
wrong, the wii version has better graphics (bloom), is mirrored and has new features.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 No it doesn't. I don't know where you got that from but it is the exact same game except for the mirroring. The graphics are 100% the same ones with no changes at all.
krizzex 1 year ago
no they aren't, the wii version has bloom while the gc version doesn't. check some reviews if you don't believe me.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 I played the game myself. Also, that is one game. How the hell does one game (as release game that was a port no less) speak for the system as a whole?
Also, bloom is a special effect that was just as present in the Gamecube version as they were the same game. The actual graphics (textures, polygons, color pallete, drawing) were 100% the same ones.
Though once again . Why does this matter? That game was not made for the Wii. Skyward Sword is the first Zelda game for the Wii alone.
krizzex 1 year ago
if you want to know what's the best wii could do - think "rebel strike plus"
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 You mean rogue leader. It hads way better graphics and better performance than Rebel Strike and no, the Wii can do so much better than that.
1.5 times the clockspeed on a smaller die + 3 times the transistors + twice the pipelines. The Wii's GPU has over twice the performance capability of the Gamecube and the console has over 3 times as much "functional" RAM with a lower latency as well as WAY more storage capacity.
krizzex 1 year ago
I still doubt we will see much better looking games than mario galaxy 2 on the wii. and mario galaxy 2 looks a lot like the first one in the first place.
if games are not representative of the graphics capabilities, then what is? tech demos?
I don't think it really matters at this point since companies that pushed nintendo consoles to their limits like rare and factor 5 are now either defunct or went to competing companies while nintendo don't care for graphics that much (see skyward sword).
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 You jumped from one point to another while talking like they are the same. You're comparing the games, not the system.
As I have said more than once. What you think looks better of not is a matter of design choice, opinion. A game does not determine what the system can do, the system determines what the game can do.
You may not like the design of Skyward Sword but I guarantee you the Xbox couldn't run it.
You apparently don't even know how to discern the graphics technically.
krizzex 1 year ago
I doubt skyward sword wouldn't run on the xbox. it's not like it has terribly advanced effects and ultra-detailed textures or anything. infact it looks a little sparse compared to ninja gaiden black on the xbox, regardless of the graphics style.
and you're arguing with me for no reason. wii is a upgraded gamecube, get over it.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 Wii superior to the xbox and so was the GC in areas, get over it.
The detail in that ever individual instance in Skyward Sword too high for the Xbox. It couldn't push that many polygons on screen at once in a functioning game for anything on earth.
The special effects in the Xbox were built in. In other words, it could do only specific affects to a certain amount. It has nothing to do with system strength.
The Conduit would be impossible on the Xbox because of all of the EMBM.
krizzex 1 year ago
gc was not superior to xbox in any way, you're just lying here. neither is wii much stronger than xbox.
nooblet911 1 year ago
and xbox had a fair share of spectacular shooters like doom 3, far cry instincts and chronicles of riddick and ebmb is nothing it can't do. it's safer to say that all the normal mapping in doom 3 would be too much for the wii.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 Doom 3 on the Xbox was no where near spectacular. The Doom 3 Xbox version was horribly downgraded with a lot of content removed and horrile fframe stutter that rarely reached even 30 FPS and the creator said that memory was the only reason the Gamecube couldn't run it. Something the Wii has more of than the Xbox.
The Wii has the same Far Cry except its a lazy unoptimized port.
Chronicles of Riddick? Are you kidding me?
The Wii is way stronger. Get over it.
krizzex 1 year ago
far cry on the wii looks like absolute trash. the xbox version looks miles better.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 Of course it does. It was a release game that was not optimized for the system in anyway. Just like Fireblade for the Gamecube. Why even compare them? Their is not quesiton that the game was bad as it had no effort put into it.
Your comparing a game that was made with effort towards the end of one consoles life span by people who knew how to use the system to a quick port on a new console that no one knew how to program properly yet.
You are grasping for straws.
krizzex 1 year ago
@krizzex Are people still stupid and actually believing those bullshots of doom 3 are running on the xbox?
Tkscz 1 year ago
@Tkscz Of course. I sent him a picture of the PC version of Doom3 compared to the Xbox versision in the exact same spot to show how horribly downgraded the Xbox version was while still not keeping 30 FPS but he just ignored it.
Every port of a PC game to the Xbox was horribly downgraded.
The Wii may not be HD but its miles ahead of any last gen system. We just need someone to actually use it since Factor 5 doesn't seem to be continuing any of its American games. Check out FAST Racing League

nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 There are none. Stop trying to use dual logic too justify the your stupidity.
krizzex 1 year ago
@nooblet911 Crazy shit. I find it very erry they default graphic asset in most Wii games look like Team Fotress. I'm not sure about HL2. But Portal and TF2 can make a perfect port for the Wii. Since you probably don't know The Wii can do portals with no problem.
halfmanhalfman 1 year ago
@nooblet911 Let me ask you this before anything. Do you have any idea how the tech inside of consoles work? That's all I want to know. If you do then you shouldn't be making this argument, if you don't then I have a lot to explain to you.
Tkscz 1 year ago
I'm not a tech expert but I do know that xbox is based on the geforce 3 gpu, pentium 3 (or celeron) cpu and has 64 megs of ram while wii is based on the gamecube gpu (comparable to radeon 7200?), gamecube cpu (power pc) and has about 88 megs of total ram.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 The thing is the Gamecube's CPU as much stronger than the xbox's as everyone knew PowerPC basically stomped both AMD and Intel of the time. Hell the 360's tri-core is a PowerPC. So there is no doubt that Wii's CPU is far beyond the xbox's. GPU wise the two were pretty equal with the XB having some advantages over the GC, like having a shader model rather than custom shaders. The Wii however has double that of the GC along with it's GPU having it's own CPU and the TEV having 16 PLs
Tkscz 1 year ago
yeah, that's believable. however some xbox games still look very close, if not better, than wii games. see dead or alive 3, panzer dargoon orta and so on for proof.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 That statement provies it. WHehter or not you think a game looks good is all a matter of preference in design, not tech. You know absolutely nothing about tech so you wouldn't know that. Go someplace else with some fellow fanboys, and romanticize and dream about your preferred last gen system outperforming the Wii.
krizzex 1 year ago
@nooblet911 Again the reason for this is that the xbox support shader model 2. This made making shading, lighting, mapping, and detailing much easier and cost effective. The Wii however was like the game cube, it needs it's shaders to be custom made with coding by scratch. That cost more than what developers are willing to spend on the Wii and they're rather make games with no detail, than take their time and use some money to make it look better.
Tkscz 1 year ago
@Tkscz Your wasting your time. He doesn't want to understand and refuses to see systems he liked being outperformed by a Nintendo system in anything.
For him, how powerful a system is is based on whether or not he likes the games on the system or whether he thinks the games on the system look good to him.
He wants to believe that the Wii is weak and no amount of explaining will convincing him otherwise.
Now this is a good looking game. ds-x2(.) com/images/reviews/fastracingwiiware/2.jpg

@nooblet911 No you aren't. You don't know a damn thing about tech. Everything youve said shows it because it was all horribly wrong and sound like nothing but a big headed fanboys presumptions and desires.
krizzex 1 year ago
also xbox's pixel shader capabilites exceed wii's. xbox has fully programmable pixel shaders while gc and wii have fixed pixel shaders.
metroid other m on the wii looks nice, but I'm not sure if it really looks better than ninja gaiden black on the xbox.
nooblet911 1 year ago
@nooblet911 The Wii doesn't use a pixel shader.
