@mannen782 you may have a point that some aftermarket airfilters can destroy the MAF sensors of the cars. but K&N is not 1 of them, the HKS airfilter (the mushroom type) is the one your talking about because the element used there is very thin, or the steel meshed airfilters. those are the ones that can kill your engine, you better get facts straight dude, you clearly dont know anything about performance parts currently on the market.
he will get an increase in performance by a small amount. a few bhp maybe, will feel faster because of noise. keep in mind the filter is in an airbox which means he will not get any more heatsoak. if he ripped airbox out and put the cone filter on with it exposed to heat off engine he would see a loss in power if tested on rolling road. remember that you are only changing the end part of the intake. the intake manifold and exhaust ports will only allow so much flow.
Yes adding a filter will give your car a power gain depending on the engine an the type of filter u go with, the uprated filter will provide better air flow for the engine which will give the engine more air to use which will then obviously have a power gain. It's simple the more air & fuel you can get in an out of your engine the faster your car will go.
yes.. upgraded air filters let more air into the engine, the air mass flow sensor then adds more fuel too the mix to keep up with the amount of air, resulting in greater combustion.. which equals more power being put through the engine
there you go!! instant 300whp gains! easy as that adding one as we speak!

the k&n may improve a little bit the run of the car, the way he builds speed, but it reduces the top speed!

LMFAO at some of the comments on this slagging off K&N, the most well known and respected filter maker on the planet! Idiots.

Are you kidding me?
Who would like to put that piece of shit in their new RS?
Only thing that crappy "filter" will do is fill ur engine with dust thus slowly killing it!
mannen782 2 years ago
@mannen782 dude k&n filters are better than OEM airfilters because of several good reasons.
1. the engine can breathe more easier,(thus preventing choking on the engine)
2. the element on the K&N filter is much more better than the stock filter.(try reading the facts on their website you @ss)
3. it gives an additional 3-5bhp thus improving slightly the performance of the car.

K&N filter would have a better airflow than the stock filter, so there will be a gain in power :)
