  • theborin i got my oscar i feed him earthworms bloodworms minnows goldfish and crickets from my back yard yes u can

  • hey nice fish umm if u feed them crab do they choke and die of hard shell and is it hard for them to digest it?

im goin to get an oscar can i feed them worms from the back yard.like earthwarms. if i do feed them earthworms will they eat them? do they eat any small living things? plz help

  • These crabs are still quite small, so their shell is not really hard. The oscar, as I have observed, completely crushes and mashes it's food before swallowing it.

I listened to my oscar one day, with the filter off and room completely quiet, I could hear her grinding the food up!! It was so cool.

  • where can i buy them

  • If you mean crabs, I just get them from the local beach! I have never seen a pet shop sell them though, they don't keep very well.

  • @greyghost84 beach??? arent those crab live in saltwater? i dont think its healthy to feed a freshwater fish a saltwater crab

  • @Lilsaintaz well dur. First, spell correctly.

"Don't those crabs live in salt water?"

There's nothing wrong with feeding an ocsar of this size a couple of crabs once or twice a year.

Come back when you have some facts! *eyeroll*

  • I have earthworms out the back of my place, in our compost, and I feed her those, she loves them!!

So, yeah, feed yours those as well! It took mine a while to decide they were edible, but when they do, they love them! She ate 20 last night, as well as pellets!! :)

  • cool where did you get the crabs???

  • Down at a local beach...pretty clean beach too!! :)

Just picking over small rocks, usually find hundreds of them!!

  • awesome i dont live neer the sea is nice???

  • Yeah! I guess I'm really lucky, I only travel 5 minutes and I get to the ocean! :)

  • see this is what you shud be feeding your fish, not mammals :)

i support you using feeder crabs ;D

although tis a bit wierd to film feeding tiem and put it on youtube ive been wondering about this lol, u dun see ppl filming ppl eating ther dinnaz lol.. just curious o.O

  • haha, well, I guess, people are just not fascinating enough to be seen eating...but if someone wants to eat a plate full of little crabs like these, live and wriggling, then I'd film it!! haha

  • lol :D

  • nice fish!! ITS SO BIG AND NICE AND COOL!!

  • Gorgeous fish!

  • Thanx! :)

  • I noticed you have some kind of either fake or live plant in your tank. Does your Oscar not destroy them? I've heard they do so I don't know if I should plant my tank.

  • Yeah, I have had both fake and real. The real ones I only put in for her to destroy, the only last a few days!! o_0

I have a few fake ones, they seem to have lasted a little longer, I think they're just harder to break! So, fake are the go, but for a bit of a toy, I put in real ones from time to time!! :)

  • cool! how big is that tank? how many gallons?

  • Um, the tank is currently a five foot tank. He'll be in a six foot when I get that ready! :)

  • haha look at him go! Your oscar looks happy and healthy!

  • Thank you. I love him very much!! :)

  • i would like to eat your fish with some chips

  • My dad says the same thing!!

  • kuwl video, where u get this food from and how do u keep it?

  • I actually go stright to the cleanest beach I know and other oscar fish lovers do the same, and lift up small rocks and there they are!!! There's always plenty of them, and it only takes about 20 minutes to get quite a few!

I just keep them in a small tank with a couple of rocks and sea water which I change everytime I get new ones. They don't take long for my O to eat!! :)

  • Lol my oscar eats like a pig!
