  • Excellent..Love Pink Floyd

  • One of my favorites. Awesome job...

  • this is song is made for beeing covered fingerstyle!

and oyu did totaly awesoe work

  • your guitar sounds unbelievably good

  • Real nice playing. But say, could you position the camera a bit higher, and rotated about 30 degrees to your right. It would be nice to actually get a clear look at the fretboard while your playing. Does anybody preview their video before posting, and ask themself a simple question: Could I Improve this in any way before sharing it with the unwashed masses out there in the happy interwebs... Yes, move my camera, so they can see what my little fingers are doing, not look at the back of my hand.

  • @adamsmithwastheman This video was in the days where I was trying to show the right and left hand. It's not really possible in one shot. These days I go straight on, camera at head height and don't cut my head off. It comes down to audience (yes I think about my videos ;)). The majority of my audience aren't really interested in learning the piece, they just want to hear some bloke playing guitar. Those who do want to learn it, use the tab - the video is not *really* useful to them.

    JAW

  • @adamsmithwastheman If you have the TABs in front of you... you can see the fingerings well enough to see how he is jumping from chord to chord (I often find my self reading TABs and thinking HOW DOES HE DO THAT?!!?) This video is more than enough to show you what you aren't getting from the TABs.

Jawmunji: With your TABs & video I was able to get the GBBS part of this arrangement 80% down in just under an hour. But bed was calling me. Another hour and I'll be playing along with the Video!

  • @popastone Good to hear Popa. If you are a Floyd fan, I recommend all of my Floyd pieces - each and every one of them is enjoyable to play :)

    Upload some videos!

    JAW

  • real nice man real nice

  • Thank you! I now have what I'll be playing for my Berklee audition. This is wonderful!

  • Thanks for teaching me how to play this. I already knew how to play 'Is There Anybody Out There' but now I can really impress my friends.

I want to play more songs in this fingerstyle of yours, and been watching some of your video's but most of them are just to hard for me (been playing for a 1,5 years) got any recommendations?

  • @TheSadHappyGuy No worries SD! Next one to play is Here Comes the Sun. If you don't have a capo, play it in the open position. When you've mastered that, come see me :)

    JAW

  • @jawmunji I know it's not "right" but I play "Goodbye Blue Sky" in dropped D...adds a lot of depth. Give it a try! Nice post, thanks!

  • @DickLodge68 It is in fact right to play in dropped D - and get in a big bend at the end. I just didn't do it at the time! :)

    JAW

  • @jawmunji Guess you didn't do it here....why not? The opening phase with open D sounds great!

  • Hi, I have been trying to play Is there anybody... for long time.. your video helped me a lot. Great control.

  • Wow fantastic job!! Thanks for posting it!

  • na collica quanto sei bravo!!!!!!!!

  • TUTORIAL PLEASE!

  • nice

  • why do you always put "JAW"

  • Fantastic. I can't believe there were 23 dislikes! Deaf or jealous I'm assuming. Great job.

  • that was great!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw Waters play last night and damn both of these are lost classics kudos for keeping them alive.

  • WOW! ive been playing for about a year and constantly improving and for my level of experience i thought I was good at "is there anybody out there" but after watching this makes my look terrible! thanks for giving me the inspiration to try harder and strive for perfection!! being a newbie i really needed it!

  • I watched this three years ago. I can finally play a fluid version of this. Not as demanding as your's, but this was the original version that inspired me!

  • @mediocrefunkybeat Good to hear! Post up a video response :)

    JAW

  • Great ! One of my favorite piece of music ever :-) !! A real soul feeling in the way you play it !! Thanks for sharing and it helps a lot for people who try to play as well as you do ;-) !

    Cheers from France

    Nathalie

  • @piouno Thanks, and glad I could help out! :)

    JAW

  • wow, excellant job!

  • Brilliant song, from a brilliant band - nice cover job too. Metallica Fade to Black borrowed a bit from it, but...

  • Wow dude that sounds exactly like the track, you're really good

  • Ah man! I remember watching this some years ago thinking "OH MY GOD!". Today I am a fairly good guitar player and I thank you, jawmunji, for being one of my inspirations. Again, thank you! :D

  • @Typoopie That's the sort of comment that makes it all worthwhile. I love playing the guitar, and I love to share my love for playing the guitar - so when I hear that I've helped in some way for someone else - well, it makes it all worthwhile :)

    Thank you!

    JAW

  • Thank you very much for the tabs, they've been quite helpful!

  • OMG!!! that was amazing i just started playing a month ago and learned both songs but only fingerpick goodbye blue sky i wish i could play that as good as you that was amazing you rock... and GO PINK FLOYD!!!! (bye the way im only 12)

  • great merci monsieurr !! Thank you for sharing joy and tabs ;-))

  • Quality...

  • That guy is fucking good!

  • Gilmour would be proud! Amazing.

  • i can't thank you enough for sharing the tabs, your amazing. I am a mid-life crisis guitar player from Florida into the classic rock and your really good.

    Thanks so much for sharing.

  • It's just great. Unfortunately I'm not an 70s kid, but a 90s (doesn't by far not rock as much, as the 70s)

But i'm listening to this kind of music nearly everyday.

and you played it very good

  • i just have to check this out eveyday, being a 70s kid and all.bloody love it, you should do a lesson on it for us.

  • @whitepointer2 ha, thanks man, yeah, good to be an early 70's kid ;) Lesson - nah, this stuff is easy enough from the tabs...give it a try!

    JAW

  • Amazing love that sound.......wot skill:)

  • Bravissimo!

  • bravo:)

  • Dave is that really you ?

  • this is my favorite arrangement of this song.

  • Excellent job man! I have been playing for 25 years and still can't play that song like you do... I really enjoyed watching this video!!!

  • check out my cover and see if its any good, i got my friend to place bass on it too, awesome playing btw

  • great job man!!!

  • Wonderful...Really good!!!

  • sounds great:)

  • Not bad. I used to fingerpick Is There Anybody Out there, but I think it sounds even better just picked (yes, I know it's not picked by Gilmour - but try it and see if it doesn't sound GREAT). Also, you're missing some slides and vibratos there, but not a huge deal, really. Overall, thumbs up.

Hrmm, I might just string up a guitar and post a video reply. Up to you.

  • @brautigan1 Flatpick on a steelstring usually does sound better, but it's a painful process flatpicking something like this, I even found hybrid picking a bit annoying. Yep, I never realised there were slides in there when I was transcribing this, and I've never bothered to re-learn it since.

Post up a reply, the world needs more Floyd covers! :)

    JAW

  • Hey, just wanted to say thank you ! I was strictly a pick-using guitarist ,couldn't finger-pick if my life depended on it , but your videos inspired me to start learning . Hopefully one day I'll be as good as you ! haha thanks again man and keep those videos coming!

  • @khalid7377 You know I tried for years to play with a flat plectrum, I never could work out hold to hold those little buggers :) But since I started out having classical style forced into me, I guess you can't help but fall back onto what you started with.

Besides - you have 4 if not 5 individual picks on the ends of your fingers - imagine how much more you could do with them than just the one! :)

Glad to hear I've helped you on the fingestyle path - it's a good other skill to have.

    JAW

  • amazing how do you keep the rythm with the thumb? i'm all screwed up. brilliant.. thank you enjoyed watching

  • AMAZING..

  • damn that is difficult to play D:

  • May I please say that was absolutely brilliant. I've been working on this song for quite some time. I still haven't got it just yet. Yes! This is the best version I've seen on Youtube yet. Great job!

  • Thanks! This is a great introductionary fingerstyle piece, I highly recommend it - if you are a Floyd fan that is. If you aren't a Floyd fan, then you probably won't "get it", and then you should probably take "Here Comes the Sun." Glad your a Floyd fan ;)

Post up a video response when you are done, I always love to see how everyone goes with my stuff!

    JAW

  • Nice Mayton

  • your guitar has a nice vibration to it...do you know what type of wood it is??

  • It's a sitka spruce top with Australian Queensland maple back and sides. I think I had just restrung it before I played this, so the tone is as good as it gets.

    JAW

  • @jawmunji alright very nice...very nice cover...i will definitely be learning this soon

  • very beautiful. the best version that I saw.

  • Your gonna make me cry man!

  • Best I've ever heard on Good Bye Blue Sky. Truly masterful. Thx!

  • Complimenti, grandioso :-)

  • Nice.

  • i wish i could play like that ,, my boy-friend is tecing me how to play "then"

  • Just wanted to say thanks, again. I've been using your tab and posted YouTube video and have pretty much nailed the 2nd half (ITAOT) and am about halfway to mastering Goodbye Blue Sky. Really like the arrangements and, hopefully (as in "full of hope" rather than "snowball's chance in Hades") someday you'll get time to finish of the fantastic version of Breath/Time that you're playing with. Another one that has a lot of potential is "Lost For Words", though it's mainly piano after the intro

  • @WormOfTheWorld : also wanted to mention that in the last measure of ITAOT if you really hammer the 12th fret high E as a ringing harmonic and THEN play the D-form strum over it, it sounds v. good. So does playing the D-form inverted first to create dissonance and added resolution at the end

  • Fantastic!

  • wow that was so good

  • That was beautiful, well done!!! Really smooth. One of the best I've ever heard!

    Cheers.

  • Beautiful. I've never been any good at finger picking so I've never even attempted Pink Floyd but, this makes me want to give it another shot.

  • beautiful version

    grat.

(anyway, your guitar has awesome sound:))

  • "Is There Anybody Out There?" was originally played by a classical guitarist on the song "Is There Anybody Out There?" His name was Ron di Blasi.

"I could play it with a leather pick but couldn't play it properly fingerstyle." -David Gilmour

  • Interesting, I didn't know that! (You've been reading Wikipedia eh? ;)) "the song was written by Bob Ezrin"...there, I've learnt two things today!

    JAW

  • I was remembered the liner notes from the booklet and remembered David being quoted on this song on the book "Saucerful of Secrets" but, yeah, Wikipedia helps me out when I'm too lazy to look for the page.

  • @jawmunji This is incredible. How long did it take you to learn this? I am just starting to learn guitar and if I could learn this song I would be the happiest person on earth.

  • Unfortunately "How long did it take you to learn this?" has no answer. One answer could be 1 week. Another answer could be 25 years. See, the problem is that you need the first 25 years to be able to learn it in one week. Even for a beginner; some could go from newbie to playing this in a month, if they had say a piano or violin background. Some could take 25 years...

Did that make any sense? ;)

    JAW

  • It made perfect sense JAW. I just wish i had 25 yrs under my belt so I could learn any bad ass song in about a week :)

    thanks

  • ;) think that learning this song is part of the 25 years. It's a good starter, it isn't too hard even if it looks it (no thumb independence required)

    JAW

  • damn man thats fucking awesome !!!

i want to play this 2 songs like you.

  • De bons passages, de rares autres un peu moins et dans l'ensemble, ce n'est pas mal du tout et bien plaisant. Je trouve juste le tempo (pour les 2 morceaux) un petit peu trop rapide ; qu'en penses-tu ?

  • the intro of fade to black by metallica always reminds me of the intro of goodbye blue sky

    awesome cover btw

  • OMG!!!

  • Cool cover. Goodbye Blue Sky was always one of my favorite Floyd tunes.

  • Righteous.

  • roger is that you

  • nah...i think is Dave Gilmour....all the Gilmour style...congrats!!
