David Ruffin and James Brown dated Tammi Terrell. They are both alleged to have abused her. The circumstances surrounding Paul's death are sketchy, many, including his family do not believe that it was suicide because the gun was in his right hand, but he was shot from the left.

Paul Williams died after suffering chronic Arthritis (rheumatoid). He died in the mid nineties. The shot was when someone tried to steal his car and he fought for it( amazing how the movie got this right out of all of the other inconsistencies). He is seen in later videos long after the shooting and on stage as well. .

I had heard or thought I heard they were going to reopen the case. I think they said he was right handed and the place he shot himself was on the left side. They said he was (alledgedly) like $80,000.00 in debt and was possibly killed because he didn't pay up.

He was drinking heavily, kicked out of a group that he began while they were still going strong, having marital issues, health issues and he felt that he would never get it back since he was replaced. Who would kill him or have a need to? I wish people would stop it. Maybe if I saw death scene photos or read an autopsy report, I could be sure.

I had heard that he suffered from Sickle Cell disease, so that combined with the era in which he grew up, there was not a lot of awareness nor treatment on this nasty disease. I am raising a child with it and it is devastating. The pain they feel, you don't wish on your worst enenmy.
@lepoetress I didnt know for sure that Paul had Sickle Cell,I mean i heard so many rumors about him in the past such as he was dating Tammi Torell and that he used to beat her when in fact it was Eddie Kendricks who was dating her,so you never know wha to beleive.Im very sad for your son and for you.My ex sister in law had achild with Cooleys Anemia and this poor kid was always in the hospital.They didnt expect him to live past 15 but hes almost 30 now so dont give up hope.Desiree.

Actually, it hasn't been proven that he shot himself... There's apparently a lot of evidence that suggests it was someone else.
