  • In this matter I rather trust the text of the treaty itself, and what I have learned about lobbyism in the EU.

If I really had to make up my mind on the advice of one of the two groups above, I would opt for the group that is not in power - the NO group.

Also, you miss out a couple of important ones on the NO side, such as UNITE, or 140 local councillors.

How do you know what most independet economists think, and how you know they are independent? Do you know their stock options?

  • You can't just unite tens of countries under one union flag but not centralize it. "Yes" Lisbon treaty is necessity for that size of a unity. Otherwise some people like you will always pop up on internet and reject the rapid progress of EU without seeing the broader picture.

  • hallo, deine videobotschaft ist aktueller denn je, interessiert dich das thema noch? kann man den beitrag ev verwenden?

    we shall overcome !

  • bravo! *stands applauding*

  • thanks

  • The EU must surely be the world's first "democratic" institution where the ONLY directly-elected body ( the Parliament ) has NO POWER TO LEGISLATE (with the possible exception of Zimbabwe).

The EU has all the institutions of a real state in place (Eurojust,Europol, the Euro,Eu Parliament etc.) the only thing missing are us... THE CITIZENS !

This is what the Lisbon Treaty is really about, and why it's important to stop it in the name of democracy and freedom.

  • I agree with you, the EU is a far cry from democracy. The money that pays for thousands of lobbyist heavily influences most of its institutions, especially the Commission, but also the Parliament. Therefore, I am certain that we will only get more democracy if we get more direct democracy.

  • ya know what...?

after all the hundreds of years of dominent power over the world our british goverment is really starting to fuck it up for "their people"

i'm starting to think about selling up and moving out of this shithole i was born into!!!

how can we be a democratic society without our supposed leaders giving us a referendum!!

someone...please tell us the people of britain what to do! (besides a major revolt against the goverment-which i doubt the majoroty would have the guts to do

  • The treaty is bull, its just another attempt to control citizens, keeping tags on everyone, like oyster cards and the barclays oyster, ID cards, Eye scanners etc. It takes a brave guy to come out and do this, most people that come out and talk sense that people listen too are usually killed afterwards, JFK, luther... there have been a number of guys that have said things about JFK's death witch have been killed... there is a secret society somewhere which some of our world leaders are part of!!

  • So true.

  • Us Irish are proud of our free country which we fought for long and hard against British tyrany.Thank God we aren't British,(look what's happened to their democracy.)

  • "Fuckireland25" i say f**k you! if u are so concerned of why only 4 million can decide the faith of 500 million people then why doesnt YOUR government and every other government give the people a chance 2 speak! if they are so concered about this well then let them have a referendum! oh ya but they know including your government that the vote would be a big NO!at least our government gave us that choice and gave us our vote! so i say F**ck you u french arshole! at least our gov respect our vote

  • now they're debating behind closed doors! i say fair fucks to ireland voting no! ireland has always been known as a neutral country, and the lisbon treaty would take that away!! what i think at the end of the day, over all....it boils down too, money and people for war!!! and we aint haven it!!

  • being irish, i am proud of ireland voting no! Most irish people didnt even know what the lisbon treaty was because it wasnt made clear....obviously for a reason! they're hiding something! and now ireland has voted no, there are still debates and arguments as to why irish people voted no! they gave us an option, vote yes or no. if we voted yes, they'd be ok, but we voted no and now they're giving out!!! whats the point of an option??

  • Great video!!! Thanks Ireland for voting NO!

  • Thank you SieBer00 for shedding some light on this, what seems to be one of Europe's darkest secrets. They made this treaty so incomprehensible and then simply told us (the Irish people)to vote yes.. Perhaps the no vote is only a spanner in the works but I for one am glad it's there!

  • Super video!!

  • I wonder if every country in Europe had to have a referendum to vote on such matters, instead of small groups of people, who can be easily bribed, how many countries would have voted YES? If bribes have changed hands, then some very wealthy influences are at play. And this is going to mean some interesting things are going to happen over the next while, either Our (irish government) is going to try something dodgy under pressure. Or bad things will happen for Ireland.

  • Hey 25 you need to grow some balls....some people cannot be bought....Obviously you are not one of them!

    The Irish cannot be bought!!!

  • ENOUGH OF OF THE LIES YOU EVIL PIECES OF SHIT

this is a grate day for liberty & humanity

    THANKYOU Ireland,

    you are the peoples champion!

The lies of the EU dictatorship must be defeated, the treason of our politicians must be exposed and all our fundamental human rights restored.

    thankyou

  • FUCK YOU! How only 4 millions people can kill the European Dream! And Thx France for the 50 billions dollars we gave you for your development. Pfff

  • Typical French arsehole.

  • he's Austrian you ignorant excuse for a human being.

  • It was a reply to a comment on this video dip shit.

  • oh my god i just realised you were probably calling that eejit "fuck ireland 25" a typical french arsehole, i thought you were talking about the guy in the video..!!!

    im really sorry..!!

  • Have you even read the lisbon treaty?? If every european country would have had a referendum, the treaty (96% european constitution) would have been thrown out- like at the european constitution referendums in 2005, where france and the netherlands voted no. Oh and FUCK YOU "FuckIreland25"!!!!!!!!!!

  • Looks like a resounding NO to Lisbon...excellent....let the party begin!

  • Lies Hydra, Can't believe people like u are peddling the same lies that have been torn apart by the facts, like EU tells us how many immigrants we take in, or will force abortion and conscription on us. Ha, you guys tell us the same crap at each and every EU referendum, and guess what, our country is still functioning better than it ever was. The EU has shown to be great 4 Ireland, and great for preventing wars and killings that occured only 60 years ago in Europe. You doomsayers never change!

  • Bill of fundamental rights - means that EU tells Ireland how many immigrants both legal & illegal Ireland must take in. That these people can be hired for a minimum wage which means Ireland must compete for these wages or lose their jobs.

Ireland do the Europeans a favor & vote No

"Not a superstate that is dilluting the national identity." - Barroso -President of the European Commission

  • True video, VOTE NO FOR DEMOCRACY. Our Irish Commissioner did not read the Lisbon Treaty as he cannot be blamed for the undemocratic contents of the Treaty.

Ireland`s right to further Referendums will be removed with the Lisbon Treaty. Any questions put to any Irish political parties are ignored and silly one liners are given. Stupid "Good for Ireland Good for Europe" NO it is not for the ordinary citizen of Europe.

    USE YOU VOTE FOR DEOCRACY

    VOTE NO

  • Does anyone know who this guy actually is? He is currently campaigning in Ireland on this treaty, which is a little suspect and somewhat dubious. But I suppose he can thank the EU for freedom of movement...

  • Get lost NWO trash.

  • Our ancestors fought for 800 years so that the Irish people would have their own country, their own constitution. Under Lisbon, EU law and EU Constitution over rules Irelands (and those of the other countries too), and it is only cuz of our constitution that we are the only country with a right to vote, this vote can be boiled down, in Irelands case to just "do you want to give away your freedom and scrap your Irish Constitution", among many other reasons like those in this vid, i say vote no

  • Ah the lisbon treaty the nazis would be so proud

type rockerfella reveils 911 fraud to arron russo in the box above

  • Realising the EU intends to silence opposition Andrew Duff MEP & a committed EU Federalist opposed the silencing of opposition on the basis of democratic principle!

"Whatever one's views about their politics it cannot be argued that these small groups do not represent a strand of European public opinion," he said.

"If the European Parliament is to be the legitimate forum for post-national democracy, all sorts of minority opinions have to be given effective, if proportionate representation."

  • I was always brought up to never trust a short austrian with a funny haircut LOL but a lot of what he says is very true say no to treaty

  • YEAH

  • EU membership is entirely optional. A country can withdraw at any time. People need to understand that context.

  • Actually, what Lisbon does is to introduce a measure which allows a member state to pull out of the EU rather than any mechanism at present. So Lisbon enhances a states ability to "withdraw at any time"..

  • So in other words your either in and we(the EU) make the rules or your out and you can make ur own rules (like north korea) outside the EU. Who would want to leave the EU ? Mabye 20 years down the line things will be different but as it stands the EU is working perfect.

  • Official mechanism or not, countries have always had the ability to withdraw from the EU. This is fact.

  • Ive searched for anyone to give me a reason to vote yes and all i can find is "trust me" This is an undemocratic "treaty" with ZERO merits.Vote NO !

  • colmmernagh, why is it undemocratic?

  • Because im being asked to make up the minds of 500 million people.

  • No you're not. You are asking to make up your own mind. No one is asking you to make up your mind for others, and neither should they. And with reference to your EU post, the EU can never work perfectly, such a huge international organisation cannot hope to work perfectly, which is why we progress from the past. And yes your first sentence (apart from the reference to NK) is essentially correct.

  • If Ireland ratifies this "treaty" then it will come in to force for all of europe.Which other countries have been asked to vote on the "treaty" ? , zero.France and Holland have all ready said no to the previous treaty. So yes i am being asked to make up the minds of 500 million people.

  • Yes, as a requirement ALL countries were asked, and most have already said yes. France and Holland argument have nothing to do with this btw. And yes noone would probably want to leave the EU, what's your point exactly?

  • Most of who said yes ??? were you asked ??? no, was any citizen of europe asked ? no! thats Undemocratic, remember a government is NOT a citizen.A number of things could have countries want to leave the EU like unjust wars, uncompromising taxes, laws, bogus trade agreements, deals signed without the say of an indivdual country. You do know that the treaty is about creating a country called the european union.

  • No it doesn't create a "country called the european union". And yes they were asked and they DEMOCRATICALLY ratified it through their mandated representatives in parliament (which is why they votes for them, to make such decisions). That's how democracy works in most other countries, and if you don't like it lump it, cause its how they like to run their countries. It's not for anyone outside to say it's illegitimate. And frankly, thats almost exactly how we like to run ours.

  • OK, you obviously havent looked into the subject enough, the EU will have a seat in the UN , it can sign treatys with other countries, every country must increase its military spending,it will create a European army,it has the power to change any treaties currently signed by member states. Its law out weights member state law = European country.

  • You're wrong, nowhere does it say military spending must increase (a lie being thrown around quite often it seems, or at least a misinterpretation of the relevant article), no army is being created (please point out where this so-called army is being created, and its law has ALWAYS overruled state law, that has been the case for us since we joined back in 1973, nothing changes there with repect to that. Its a legal entity but not a country, It's hardly even a confederation..

  • Your first statement is complete nonsense.

Such an important decision should and must be put to all the people of europe in a referendum, the reason it isnt is because they know it will fail.

  • no it shouldn't just because you think it should. Every member state has a right to enact law according to their own rules and regulations, and wishes. what foreigners think about how a people run their country should have nothing to do with it. Frankly, its none of our business what others do in their respective countries.

  • Its totalatarian.Ireland is lucky our courts are still independant.Even people who voted Fianna Fail want a no vote.

  • Its no "totalatarian", we have to respect other people, not make decisions on their behalf or say they should do this or that. And sorry, but what country's courts are not independent?

  • Right,this conversations over,are you stupid.

"respect other people, not make decisions on their behalf"

thats what im being asked to do,3 million people making a decision for 500 million.

What part of that do you not understand.

It will create a euro army (read the poxy treaty) do some research and get back to me.

  • Am I stupid? You're the one going on about things that have nothing to do with the treaty. There will be NO army created, member states will not be required to increase military spending, and you are NOT being asked to decided for 500 million people. You are being asked to decide for just yourself, and the irish for just the irish. Everyone else decides for themselves. I don't know where you get your info from but I'd suggest you research the facts first, then think a bit, it's hard but it works

  • geraghd Your comments sir are disingenuous there may not be an army but there is to be a Rapid Reaction Force (is that REPRESSION force as in Mireille Marty's exposition on Corpus Juris page 42?). Funding of this WILL increase military spend for some REGIONS since Countries cease to exist. Eire is not being asked to vote for 500M the only peoples with the privilege of a democratic vote on the surrender of their independent sovereignty OUT OF 500M we must hope that they have the wisdom to vote NO

  • You are the one who is disingenuous. You imply that there will be an EU army which is patently misleading. An EU army is one raised, funded, and controlled by the EU. The Rapid Reaction force and any other proposed structure clearly will not be set up nor controlled in this way. All member states armies will be exclusively under the direction and control of the respective member states. Countries will not "cease to exist" what are you talking about?

  • geraghd Centralised & standardised purchasing, a standardised uniform, a badging & ranking structure that is centralised - at least now you concede the EU has an army and no longer deny that admitting the Rapid Repression Force.

Do list the other facts you are having trouble understanding - since I HAVE read all of the so called treaties, including The Treaty of Elysee also having read EUropaische Wirtschaft Gemeinschaft by Funk. Perhaps I can help you to understand the truth.

  • national sovereignty has ceased to exist because the unelected and unaccountable politburo (commission) together w/the council can already OVERRULE national parliaments whenever they want. There is no dmeocratic parliamentary control on politburo/council. National parliaments no longer have legislative powers, those powers reside in Brussels. The EU is a DE FACTO supreme government of Europe, and no peoples ever asked for such a thing to be created. DEATH TO THE EU and JAIL TO ITS SUPPORTERS

  • Ok, so how will you be voting ? yes or no ?

  • colmmernagh Do remember when you cast your vote if you are one of the very few who are privileged with ANY meaningful democratic say out of some 500Million that those who advocate the EU are all too often the parasitic politicians, their salaried advisors (brain cells) staff, apparatchiks, lobbyists, consultants, agents & assistants all with their snouts firmly in the troughs on the gravy train fighting like rats in a corner to maintain this pampered role as salesmen & women in support of Evil

  • your rhetoric greg, and vitriol doesn't really help when you try to make 'reasoned' arguments.

  • geraghd I must appologise if you are failing to grasp the facts which I am using and I am VERY vitriolic about the obscenity of the concept of the EU and angry at its lack of any meaningfull democracy, the profligate abandon with which they squander the hard earned taxes of those unfortunate enough to be enslaved in vassal states. I have presented fact after fact in a reasoned manner for 15 years to be confronted with lies & distortions by those who are funded from the gravy train with OUR money

  • Please listen again to what this chap has to say in the video.

  • watch?v=rXCzWTVHjrs

  • Sure its not perfect, nothing is ! but its good enough. And as i said, why would anyone want to leave the EU and be the outcast (like north korea).

  • Read.. it helps you through life.. If you don't know, don't vote. And clearly, you don't know.

  • couldn't be arsed to be honest. Im sure wiki will let you in on that little secret. or maybe read a politics book or something on modern democracy..

  • Im talking about referenda, if you don't know German political history over the last century and why the country does not have referenda at federal level, then there is no point in arguing here until you read a little about referenda in Germany

  • No, what you haven't explained is how this treaty gets rid of our veto on direct taxes and defence policy.

And democracy comes in many forms, which you patently do not understand when you believe all other countries should vote by referendum.

The previous treaty was rejected by the french and dutch, and approved by the spanish and luxembourgers in referenda, whats your point exactly? This is a different treaty and how other countries might vote on it has nothing to do with how we should vote.

  • oh jesus, right if you don't understand modern democracies and politics, and why some states might require referendums on certain issues and others a wary of popular sentiment (which is what Hitler abused) then you really have no place in this debate.

  • You remember that whole Hitler thing don't you? You know, millions dead, big world war just over half a century ago. The Germans since then, don't really like referendums, and they are happy (as they should be, as anyone else might be) with elected professional politicians making informed decisions on their behalf.

  • Yes, in breach of a constitution that we approved and enacted, therefore, we decided that amendments to the constitution should only be enacted via referendum, unlike other states which suits us and them fine. And you are not correct on defence and tax, its a lie, unless you have legal advice to the contrary that you can show us, or indeed the relevant paragraph in the treaty.

And I'm Irish, I just happen to be living in England.

  • begorrahspawn, I have looked it up, and perhaps you might want to study come constitutional law and politics before you come on here spouting nonsense. We have decided to have a referendum on such things as we approved a constitution that dictates such a requirement.

and everthing you've said on defence and tax is patently false btw.

  • Dear Sir, Thank you for the trouble you went to put this together. I am an Irish citizen who had already decided to vote NO. However the people like your good self, that do not have a vote on this treaty, will be in my thoughts as I put my NO vote into the ballot box. Best wishes form Ireland.

  • As I understand it, only Ireland are being given an opportunity to vote on acceptance. This is because we have a written Constitution which protects us against so many of the wrongs proposed by the Treaty. Remember, on 12 June we have not just to vote on the Treaty but we also have to vote to change our Constitution to 'allow' the Treaty to operate. If we do that then we hand over everything our people have fought for over the last few hundred years. For God's sake and our kids vote NO

  • People I know who are voting yes, dont have a clue what its about, and refuse to change their minds. People campaigning for a no vote are called "conspiracy theorists" and "paranoid". keep uploading videos flood the net with a no vote view. VOTE NO FOR A FAIRER EUROPE.

  • How other countries vote on this Treaty has nothing to do with us nor has it anything to do with the EU. So he is completely wrong and misleading on his first point. I haven't yet listened to his other points... yet...

  • Good job of using quotes from the Treaty to make your points. This 'treaty' will make a farce of democracy.

  • Excellent video. Well put.

At the moment, I really couldnt guess which way it will go. Surprisingly, and in my opinion, the Irish media have been fair enough in giving equal voice to both sides. This could change however.

  • The Lisbon Treaty is not about gay marriage. I am hetero and I strongly believe that gay people should have the exactly same rights as everybody else. They are just as "normal" or not normal as the rest of us. But the treaty will not affect that anyway, because the forces behind this treaty care about money, not about gays. The treaty will affect everybody's lifes, gay or straight.

  • If Ireland votes yes to this treaty, they are handing over their independence and freedom which our forefathers died for. Yes, they will bring in gay marrige, but thats not the worse... what about the militarisation and privatising of medical care. can you or your family afford to pay treatments yourselves?? there will be no middle class anymore, just rich and poor....why are other countries protesting for a refferendum if this treaty is so fantastic?? why arent they allowed a refferendum?

  • I wil be votin Yes to the Lisbon Treaty so wil my family. The No campaign has been handin out leaflets outsid churches trying to win over Irish voters by saying that the Treaty wil bring in Gay Marriage. They are feeding on peoples fears + prejudices which is morally wrong.

Regarding Irish neutrality we have Russia remilitarising + threatening Europes oil supply lines, a USA that is hyperpuissant. We as Irish people can no longer stand on the sidelines while European borders r being threatened

  • 1 Gays must have the same rights as heteros; the treaty will not affect that. 2 If our answer to superpowers like the US will be militarization, we will discard the very idea of European integration: peace. If we model the US, we may as well end up having another Cold - or even Hot for that matter - War. This time the opponents would be the US and China. I have a better idea: let Europe show the world that there is another way, based on the will for peace, without mutual threats and global fear.

  • I agree with your first statement.

However, we are not following the US, we are European and we do things our own way. We are showing the world that there is another way, that Peace and diplomacy should be paramount, however what do you do when you have countries like Russia who don't listen to diplomacy and are actively threatening the safety and security of our Oil supply and European economies. Our diplomacy and values of peace will be no good up against countries such as Russia.

  • 1) Oil is ending and we need to look for other energy sources such as light and wind; not only because it is ending, but also because climate change will force us to. What good will be politics - be it yours or mine - when our planet will refuse to sustain us? 2) Do you believe that Mr. Bush, when he says "We bring democracy"?, wants just that? I do not, I also don't think that you do. Nor will other countries believe that we want peace by threating them.

  • Also, have you thought about where the money for this armament should come? In 2004, the American defence budget reached EUR 351 billion; the 25 member states together: EUR 160 billion. That means, Europe would need to more than double military spending to impress the US. Where do you take that money from? Schools? Hospitals? Are you ready to sell water supply and public transport to finace that?

  • Moreover, the treaty sets firm links to NATO, and therefore the US, who direct NATO. That means, even if we step up our budget, the US will tell us what to do.

I hope I could help in spreading at least some sort of doubt.

  • Unfortunatlly Youtube does not access enough of the population to make a large difference. We need 50%+ of the votes.

  • Thanks for your videos my friend we need more people like you to help us fight the treaty. Please come to Ireland for a few days to tell the ordinary people that are been brain washed by the popular media. We need help in this as time is running out. The Irish people are not stupid but just miss-informed by the Government, the political classes and the national medial. Any help would be appreciated. Also writing to our online newspapers would have some good effect it they publish the letters.

  • On accountability and democracy: Depends on your comparison. If you want to compare EU Nice Treaty now with EU Lisbon Treaty, you may even say yes. But if the question is whether you as a citizen will get more democracy, the answer is a clear NO. Why? Because when the Lisbon Treaty is passed, the EU will be responsible for many more policies than it is today, and since it's workings with Lisbon will still be appallingly autocratic compared to national democracies, you will lose out as a citizen.

  • I am on the side of voting 'no' - at the moment. The 'yes' voters say that it will make the workings of the EU more accountable and more democratic - is this true? I find this difficult to believe seeing as Ireland is the only country with a vote on this in the first place!

Where can we view the treaty ourselves?

  • Ratification of the treaty is up to the people in each country, it has nothing to do with the EU or us. People (like in Germany) have decided they don't want referenda (and for good historical reasons!) so didn't have one on any EU treaty. This has happened since the foundation of the EU.

  • Since the Irish referendum is the only one in the EU, it does have a lot to do with the EU. The Irish carry a heavy burden. Their decision will be valid for 480 million people.

People in Germany did not decide not to want referenda. In fact, Article 20 of their constitiution - "Grundgesetz" - allows them to decide per referendum - all Art 20 needs to be used by the public is a normal piece of legislation, everyday plain secondary law, to make it usable for the German people.

  • No it's not, it's valid for just 4 million people on this island. The other 480 million people will ratify this as they see fit if they want to. We have effectively decided we want a referendum, others decided not to, its not up to us to judge or involve ourselves with how they run their respective states.

  • NO the head of each state in all the European countries except Ireland, signed the treaty without giving the people the choice. They did not choose not to have one, how could you get a country to choose whether they want it or not, it would take a referendum to even figure that out. You have been lied to by the government, dont listen to them. Even the "Independent" bodies in the Lisbon treaty are totally biased, because the government funds them and set them up.

  • All heads of state signed the treaty including Ahern, but it can't be ratified until it is approved democratically by the member states. Which is has been in all member states who voted on it so far, and Ireland and a few others still have yet to approve it. Nuktu, you're talking crap. No government lied to us.

  • "it is approved democratically by the member states." but thats the point its not being approved democratically by all member states , only Ireland.

  • Nuktu, please tell me what undemocratic structure is in place that prevents other member states from being approved democratically. It is all done perfectly democratically, and perfectly legitimately, in each member state.
