  • I Love this song , its so me .!

  • "Well I ain't really falling to sleep I'm fading to black."

That line always sticks with me.

The song tonally reminds me of Dawes' That Western Skyline--both are great songs.

  • I listen to this song everyday.

  • This is so fucking powerful.

  • where is all the pics of jason isbell ya know the guy singing this song....

  • More dads should tell their daughters to not be ashamed of what hides behind her dress.

  • For DBT fans Jason Isbell's solo/400 Unit work is getting better every album

  • I love this song so, so much. amazing.

  • a lot of truth and pure emotion in this song. even better live.

  • a rainy afternoon, a bed, this song, and some sex is all a man needs

  • this is my song for so many reasons..

  • aint got enuff thumbs to put up for this song..

  • First,to the 5 people that dont like this ,get fucked ,now thats out of the way,i dont know why everyone isnt buying this music,to busy haveing the shit shoved down them from tv and commercial radio, but theres still a lot of us out there and more every day, lets do our part and spread the music, thanks.

  • This band seems to know every feeling I've ever and will ever have. Awesome fukin band. My cuz outta Austin turned me onto em, been hook every since

  • @VoodooPolitico give credit where credit is due...im sure Jason Isbell himself has seen this and was disappointed like me...you know how it feels to work your ass off for someone else to profit off of...i know i do...i love the song but im not postin bs videos of it on youtube...but either way great song and a great live performer...much respect for guys like him

  • @chaucerg He did make there best albums in my opinion, or was on them. I don't think there's hard feelings, he's full of talent. I wish he would of just made a couple solo records like Patterson, but hell I don't know the story. I know there still great and Jason's making a hell of a go, I love his keyboard player from Son Volt.

  • Spreading the word to all my friends ......DBT one of the best

  • In a world full of bullshit and lies there are still a few with something to say.

  • @ComedySceenwriter Like Ronnie and Niel, love 'em

  • if you judge a band by songwriting DBT is in the top 5 all time.

  • this video is a big slap in the face to jason isbell...where is he? i can hear him singin but i can't seem to find him at all in the video....rediculous....dislike

  • @chaucerg relax...just listen to the music...its all gonna be allright...

  • Wouldn't it be nice if more of todays music had feeling like this?

  • My brother turned me on to these guys last year. I'm from North Alabama and alot of their songs have places i go to, or been to. Thats pretty cool. They need more air time from our local stations

  • This is a very well-written song... So much better than the "processed" crap all over the radio these days.

  • The voice of an angel.

  • I can actually hear this at a truck stop, hotel rooms, traveling isa god damn lonely love

  • So underrated, there music would touch everyones soul if they actually listened to them!

  • i am a metalhead, but this song is just fucking incredible!

  • @duckiesv

    whats metalhead???

  • @yfz4501176 a person that frequently listens to metal

  • @duckiesv me some slayer lamb of god or pantera but man these dudes are amazing.

  • Love this Band :-)

  • God this is just absolutely great. Resonates with the soul.

  • i learned this song while i was plastered.

and i still remember it. thats how i know it's a great song.

  • Fantastic!!!! somebody at work just gave me there CD

  • Always been a great song to me...just a little too close to home these days..at least you know you ain't alone.

  • im great friends with the whole band, mostly pat though

  • just excellent,F*#kin excellent!

  • Damn, it don't get much better than that. I dare anyone to find something that good on the radio.

  • @ratblues Maybe "Prolific" is the new "Epic?" I'm getting tired of the attempts to redefine the meanings of words. Teh fail.

  • drive by just rocks in all ways

  • @26MikeMull Mike Mull? 1/9? Scout for 1st LAI in the Gulf? That you?

  • awesome band! these guys were in Gruene not too long ago!

  • "I belly up and disappear...."

  • I think we can all agree that modern Country music sucks. It's up to DBT to make Country a legitimate form of music once again.

  • Very well may be their best song ever!!!

  • I love the vibe of this one. (Just with they didn't take the LORD's name in vain.)

  • At 46, I have been a Rock & Roll fan all my life and have enjoyed every sub-genre and trend that came along. But now I mostly listen to more 'organic' bands like The DBTs. After all the artifice and bombast of so many bands and styles, nothing really works for me like honest, simple beautiful songs like this. Good Lord, is this a heart-wrenchingly gorgeous song!

  • Well said, brother. Couldn't agree more.

  • @KoenHead Ditto to you! Great song! Great band!

  • @KoenHead At 15, I think that this band is simply incredible. Jason Isbell is a phenomenal song writer. I'm glad he's doing so well alone but now that the bassist quit for DBT he should join the DBT again!

  • This is seriously one of my absolute favorite songs ever.

"I'll take two of what you're having and I'll take all of what you got, to kill this god-damned lonely love..."

    Classic.

  • I love the f**k out of this. Second favorite DBT tune behind Danko/Manuel.

  • Damn it, Jason. Why'd you have to leave the Truckers? So good...

  • Love DBT, love this song. Can't wait for their Jan. 15 show in Athens, GA.

  • Prolific. A compliment!

  • One of the best written songs in any genre of all time. 'I ain't really drownin' cuz I see the beach from here...' Prolific.

  • @blinkbunnyLP I don't think they know what prolific means...

    But srsly great song

  • @blinkbunnyLP prolific? is that what you meant?

  • @blinkbunnyLP good song definately. Prolific isn't the word you want here; prolific mean high in volume, as in 'Stephen King' is a prolific writer of novels. Terrific, maybe, but I think you were going for 'profound' which means 'deep rich in meaning'.

Still, I agree; a very good song. BUT "In any genre, of all time"? No. Check out Townes Van Zandt, Guy Clark, Robert Earl Keen. THEN tell me what you think.

  • @newbiefromnewbie Hank Williams, Billy Joe Shaver, John Prine, Bob Dylan, Kris Kristofferson

  • @newbiefromnewbie I'vv been a fan of every artist you've mentioned for a long time. Jason Isbell's "Goddamn Lonely Love" is, IMO, one of the best songs ever written. It ranks right up there with Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" and "Alexandra's Leaving."

  • @blinkbunnyLP too bad the word "prolific" means "producing larges amounts of something"

  • @7channer which applies here... as the song produces a large amount of emotion, pleasure, etc. Too bad you didn't think a little deeper before you posted.

  • @blinkbunnyLP I think you meant profound... while they may be prolific songwriters, I think you meant that was a profound lyric...

  • @blinkbunnyLP You couldn't be more right! (but I don't think prolific means what you think it means...)

  • it doesn't really get any better than this

  • This song is the main reason I hate that Jason left the band. I have felt this....GODDAMN LONELY LOVE!!!

  • this song has got me through so many tough relationships

  • Hey I hear Booker T and the DBT are releasing a new cd .. with Neil Young makin an appearance on it. They will be performing in Chicago, Petrillo, on the Fourth of July! Thanks for this excellent post!

  • i JUST LOVE THIS SONG....

  • aw. my Jordan loves this song.

  • That boy can sing, cain't he?

  • I got green and I got blues!

  • i love this song

  • i love this song

  • this has always been one of my favorite songs by DBT. too bad Jasons gone, he was kick ass, but his solo work is pretty cool too.

    Great song.

  • manic street preachers

  • fuck my bad i thought i was in the search box rofl too stoned. mellow song :o

  • Wow, this song just takes me places..

  • a motel room in texarkana?

  • That is where I am from :)

  • "So I'll take two of what you're having and I'll take all of what you got"

  • Maybe Jason comes back someday... either way, bad ass band. DBT.

  • Well, he's having the time of his life with the "400 Unit", recording every one of the songs he wants to (not the ones voted in by his band-mates), and he's no longer in close-quarters contact with his ex-wife while he earns his living.

    So: what would you do?

  • Take it all, Rob. I'm so glad you're waking up! Peace♥

  • awesome song I have never heard before..oh Ya I'm waking up my Northshore girl

  • this song is haunting me for years, ever since Dirty South came out. Goddamn you Americans, for having a chance to see them perform live. Why do they never come to goddamn Europe?

  • maybe cause there goddamn American? gotta come to the states to see a bad ass American band ;|

  • Ah, but you Europeans have one up on us: The Manic Street Preachers NEVER play over here, so we're even...

  • Guys, when the times of ¿what music is the good music? will come, one of the groups I'll show to my grandsons will be DBT.

    Let there be rock.

  • I've been listening to this song a lot the past few days. Its amazing.

  • tres tres bon merci

  • very cool song/ where are these guys from/ how long have they been around?

  • The majority of them are from Muscle shoals, Alabama. They have been around since the mid 90's. There first band was "Adam's House cat". Then the "DBT" came along a few years after that. I think now most of them live in Athens, Ga.

  • Lost love is such a bitch but this song wraps it up in a warm blanket and hits all the right buttons. If you wanna listen to a great decemberists song try eli the barrow boy off picaresque or oceanside of the 5 songs ep

  • I can't believe I just got turned on to this band a 6 months ago...and I will feel that I owe the person who provided me with that first CD a huge debt of grattitude every time I listen to them.

    THANK YOU

  • @shelleylee62 every time I listen to them I ask myself this question: "WHY doesn't EVERYONE know of the Drive-By Truckers?". In my opinion they are one of the best bands of the last 10-20 years, all genres confounded. I don't get why they aren't at least a 100 times more popular. Seems like real talent has been forsaken nowadays. Sad...

  • Drive-By-Truckers = Simply gospel in music

  • you guys are great i know i seen you in tulsa at some club yr back

  • Saw jason live a few days ago and he played this. Still sounds great!

  • one of my favorites

  • not a big country fan but this blues's song rocks, heck the band rocks for country music, right on great song

  • I would never call this country. This is straight up undiluted jack daniels and tobacco juice influenced Southern Rock!

  • JASON IS THE MAN!!

  • just saw the truckers in richmond

jason will be missed, but the truckers are still the truckers (jason who)

  • A sad song song that always makes me feel right!!!

  • badass ballads man

  • everyone should have the chance to hear their words, like j.c..why is god damned a cuss?BAC=DBT

  • So beautiful... the lyrics are very high standard, as you always can expect by these guys. DBT is the best band around nowadays along with The Decemberists.

  • whoo is the decemberest, ill try and find them or could you send me a link to them ?

  • hay i found the sixteen milatary wives, your right they sound good too . right on glad you mentioned them thanks

  • Hey:) Sure, no problem. Glad you like 'em!

  • i hate to tell you man i just listened to the Decemberists, they aint no wheres close to DBT.

  • pretty different bands you are comparing thats like saying Dissection has nothing on Isis, Necrophaghist vs. Mogwai etc. two totally different worlds of music.

  • Jesus, seriously. "If you like The Dixie Chicks, you'll totally want to check out Mercyful Fate!" What the hell?

  • heheh now i am trying to imagine a pairing up of the two bands. If King covered "earl had to die" it might actually be good.

    Eaaaaarl Had to DIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  • I just saw them in Tucson on the 5th. They are NOT breaking up, Jason just left/got kicked out. It's a shame cause the stage presence of Jon Neff is incredibly low key, almost like he's not even there. I miss Jason, he's a great song writer and guitar player. But DBT is Patterson's band, really. Anybody who disagrees should see them live..... they were AWESOME. Even w/o Jason.

  • Jason wasn't kicked out of the band...his leaving was mutual on all sides. I LOVE the Truckers, but they aren't going to be the same without Isbell! It's a shame. But I can't wait for Jason's solo album to come out in July!

  • The only band for quite a while, that made any sense. I still haven´t caught them live, so I refuse to believe they´re breaking up!

  • Isbell is out of the band. They're all badasses.....

  • Patterson Hood is an incredible musician, but it really does seem like Jason Isbell is taking over the band. Two very talented songwriters. I am not as crazy about Cooley.

  • they rock

  • great southern rock band

  • a very good rock band

  • perfect

  • one of the great southern rock bands!

  • Nice photo slideshow and a hell of a good song. The Truckers are the best

  • great song & great video!

  • u wanna join my group
