This song is pure genius, even if the chorus does sound a bit like the old "I Love New York" commercial -- still it's gorgeous. The video is also great, showing that love is not about having the affection of the many who don't matter, it only can bring you down further if you don't have the affection of that special someone.

Goodbye Cruel World may not be his best work but there are some real gems on the album so i would definitely recommend it, especially now with the extended extras like 'Turning The Town Red' (the b-side to 'I Wanna Be loved') and an incredible live version of 'Motel Matches'.

P.S 'Turning The Town Red' was also the theme tune for a TV series called 'Scully', Does anybody remember it?
