  • @Loveyourdisk He's a rescue, he was no doubt abused.

  • @TheMuffinBurgler Who could abuse a creature like that.............i feel a deep pain inside when I think about someone doing such a terrible thing..... I wonder what that person would feel like if a 800 pound male gorilla decided to abuse him/her...............

  • That's incredibly sweet. =) What a well-tempered bird.

  • You should call him Moet Presley

  • This is adorable

  • What kind of Cockatoo is he? Too small to be an Umbrella. So cute. Reminds me of my friend's bird, Mulligan. <3

both of them r soo cute :)))

  • THis plucking was from recently having lost his owner, his aviary and his mate in a short time frame. He refeathered shortly after this as he settled into our house, this was spring 2006. He stayed feathered until very recently when his hormones have kicked up. Our girl Ducorp's Too wont give him the time of day. He's now trying to court our female eclectus.

  • i have limited understanding but they often do this when they are sad/bored and so on right ?

  • sad, bored, upset, mourning, hormones, emotionally disturbed, feeling neglected. he was fresh out of mourning for a lost mate.

  • ok =), i am considering getting a parrot my self (me and wife), but from my research this spies can be tempramental i think

  • You should join a chat grop - rare-cocka2 at yahoo groups or other such species specific ones. Lots of info and question answering there.

  • i don't like yahoo tho =P

  • @fannoj Generally speaking most cockatoos can be teempermental once they are sexually mature. As much as I love my cockatoo, who I rescued last year, they are definatly a handful! Might I suggest getting an eclectus, an african grey or even a mini macaw! They make great pets for older couples, and while being smaller they are still able to go outside and are a bit less 'spooky'

  • waw :D i lik'e your Cockatoo :d

  • Although I'd give fair warning and say to be careful around a child, the girl seems respectful of the bird, and is calm, and the goffin cockatoo is calm and relaxed with her also. Not all cockatoos will attack children. It depends on the bird and the child. My u2 is great with most children, but if I see he is nervous, or the child is too hyper then I won't permit them to interact. It s all about paying attention to those cues, and common sense.

  • Sorry, EDIT *the ducorps cockatoo* is calm with her.

At first glance I mistook him for a goffin's

  • THanks - i appreciate all the visits and concern being expressed. Moet (and Diego, our female) are Ducorp's Cockatoos, a rare breed.

  • this birdy looks like la Roux~lol:) nice video, nice girl!

  • you should be carful with the child near him. Cockatoo's are known for attacking young children for no reason! it's happened with mine many times thats why i don't bring her to class with me (i work with kindergarten). They just don't like little kids so watch him around the children!

  • Thanks for the warning. So far its all ok, almost 4 yrs. He has adored her since the day we got him, 4th hand. All our parrots are gentle with her, trusting her or getting themselves out of reach on their own.

  • ok i just wanted to warn you i've been looking into getting another bird and all the experts say that i can't have them around children because they do attack. I don't bring my cockatoo in with me but when i have little kids in the house he is very tense and scared. Im sure your birds don't mind her but im just saying be carfull cause bird bites are bad.. trust me i've been biten a few times by my tempermental bird... oh by the way cute video lol

  • aww so cute wen the little girl kisses the birdy :)

  • Both of your little ones are cute. glad he got his feathers back.

  • It's speaks so awesome :O

  • he isn't any more - see our other Moet videos for full feather. see his history story in prior comments.

  • Hi hkburke. Is Moet a rescue? Poor guy is a plucker. :( Cute vid...thanks for sharing! -John

  • That's adorable!!

  • Plucked birds always break my heart. It's so good to see him in a loving home. Wonderful video. Great to know he's happy and fully feathered. Beautiful family!

  • His crest is always 'switch on'? haha, looks like a gel hair style, so cute.

  • Love it!

  • I was wondering if he means to do the thing with his head feathers. Is that something parrots do to show appreciation?

  • He is a Ducorp's COckatoo and they show lots of feelings by raising their crest: interest, fear, excitement, curiosity,....

He seems to be unique in the head bobbing while looking at you - really as if saying YES!

  • He is also unique in the rubbing of his crest feathers on Kaity's face - I havn't seen that before.

  • Enormously cute. I love to see kids caring for animals, more like them please :-p. That would make a good generation. ^^

  • Thanks! SHe is growing up thinking that parrots are the BEST pets! Moets continues to LOVER her, play with her, and just flew to her shoulder.

  • GREAT job on taking care of him after so much loss and change!

  • He is soo cute. Love it.

  • Has she always plucked?

  • We had just adopted him and flown him home with us from vacation. He had lost his mate, owner & aviary in the few prior months and had been mourning heavily. He plucked more during the 2 flights home. He is fully feathered now!

  • How adorable!
